What a true find! This restaurant checked all the boxes for me. The location and view was gorgeous, the food was some of the best seafood I've had in a very long time, and the service was extremely attentive and quick. Cannot recommend a better place to try. The chowder and blackened seafood was off the chain! Kitchen 251, you guys have found the perfect trifecta in a dining experience. Way to go! read more

The food is great! well seasoned and cooked to perfection. We've been coming here since it opened since I visit the island often. However the pricing is out of hand now. I bought a grilled fish basket with two sides, no drink (labeled mkt price) and came out to $35 with a $4 tip. The fish fillet are average is size. I do not think the basket was worth $30+. The prices have definitely jumped up. This was my favorite place in Fernandina but sadly we might have to start cutting back due to cost. read more

Delicious food. Imaginative dishes for specials. Service is perfect. Bar is beer & wine. Regular menu is always executed perfectly. TRY and leave room for dessert. Key lime pie, pecan pie, bread pudding have all been outstanding. It is very small and often loud. The deck is great in nice weather. I would think the chicken would be less than the seafood. We ordered the shrimp basket with fries and collards. The shrimp are large. The collards were good needed a little more seasoning for my taste. The fries were good and hot. This was $25. I would not order this again. What can I say: very disappointed with Kitchen 251; ambiance is amazing specially the waterfront view simply great! Service was really too good for me, our order was extremely efficient in that all of our food came out at the same time; we ordered the corn chowder, Cesar salad and crab cake sandwiches . Having all three dishes come out at once was very disappointing: the Cesar salad was not, it was an ordinary salad, crab cakes were way undercooked for our taste. The best thing was the corn chowder, which we felt we needed to eat quickly before the crab cakes get cold. Disappointing beautiful Friday afternoon . I will say , they did take off the Cesar salads. This little restaurant is putting out some great Cajun dishes. The atmosphere and service are perfect fits for the menu. Comfortable and warm, home made with large portions and very friendly staff. You're going to either have a burger, a sandwich or a fried fish platter, that's the mainstay of the menu. A little cramped inside, space wise... and seemed to have an active bar as well. I feel bad for leaving a subpar review since it seems to be highly rated on Yelp. It was my first time here since we stopped by earlier to join the Amelia Island Boat Club and wanted to grab lunch before heading out on the water. The soups were highly recommended so I had a cup of the crab and corn chowder. The soup was not thick enough and was runny. There were hardly any crab and mostly small pieces of soft corn. My husband had the chicken salad that came with 2 tortilla. He didn't really like it because he felt it had too much romaine lettuce burying the chicken salad. The service was friendly. Nice ambiance. Probably wouldn't come back for food. If we did, we probably would just grab drinks during Happy Hour. read more

After spending the morning on the water at Fernandina Beach, we ate lunch at Kitchen 251 at the Amelia Island Marina. We started out with some crab cakes. Delicious crispy exterior with hardly any breading. The crab was truly the star. I followed that up with Shrimp and Grits. Perfectly cooked shrimp and grits swimming in a Cajun-inspired broth with smoked sausage, peppers, onions, and a touch of heat. This place is laid-back coastal restaurant/bar featuring various iterations of seafood. We had an appetizer of fried green tomatoes that were delicious and plentiful for two. The crust was crunchy yet not so heavy that it overpowered the tomato slice. Tomato's were cooked perfectly through but not soggy or too hard to cut into. I ate a light portion having a corn and crab chowder that was rich, plentiful, and tasty. The soup base was sturdy with a blend of puréed corn, and a bit of cream and it surrounded the pieces of kernel corn and crab throughout the soup. Delicious! My partner enjoyed the blackened scallops basket with collard greens and red beans, rice and sausage as his sides. The basket had a 9 full plump scallops that were blackened with seasoning to perfection. His only note was that a couple of the larger scallops might have needed a few seconds longer on the grill. Otherwise they were wonderful. The service was prompt, friendly, efficient, and attentive. The place is situated on a coastal creek with a marina overlooking the marsh. Just beautiful except for a moored boat flying the colors of a craven candidate for president. read more

Hush puppies and bread pudding were delicious! Cons - Food is overpriced. Our bill without tip was $180 for two adults and four kids; we all got water only - no soda, no alcohol. I stopped in today to see Chef Michael in his newly opened brick and mortar restaurant. Chef Michael is well known around the Fernandina Beach area and has a lot of experience in this business. The menu includes local seafood, served in lots of different ways, soups, salads, sandwiches, sides, desserts, beer and wine and a daily blackboard special. The restaurant is located in the same spot The Galley was. They have done a nice renovation but one thing that they haven't changed (thank goodness) are those awesome water views and amazing sunsets. I had the basket with blackened local shrimp, hushpuppies, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. It was all really good and plentiful. My lunch basket had 12 shrimp in it. His special sauce is so good. We were looking for a dog friendly outdoor spot for lunch and Kitchen 251 was the perfect solution. It's located on the marina with beautiful views. They have a large deck with servers who bring you food from the gourmet food truck. The food was great. Our only complaint was that their special was fish tacos and the server told us they were $18, but she charged us $24. We would have ordered wings had we known it was $24 for the tacos. The prices are a bit high, but the views are lovely and the food was good. read more

We were heading to old town Fernandina when Waze waylaid us, taking us on a convoluted route. As we pulled off the highway to recalibrate we noticed a small outpost off to the side that had a bunch of cars next to the small marina. We decided to investigate and we were pleasantly surprised. Before we decided to stay and give it a try we did a quick check on Yelp. With only 9 reviews, but all practically glowing, we were still a bit hesitant to alter our original dinner destination. Seeing a couple exiting and heading to their car we decided to get an opinion. What we learned, while not locals, was that they were informed by others about this place and gave it very strong review, so we decided, why not? Upon entering the very nice, but not large bar/restaurant we were warmly greeted by the owner / chef Mike. He immediately made us feel at home. After being seated window side facing the marina and towards what was becoming a beautiful sunset, we were again greeted by our young waitress Ashley. She was wonderful, enthusiastic, helpful and another bright spot to get us started off in the right direction. The menu features plenty of land and sea options but the special on the blackboard behind the bar screamed 'don't miss me' so we jumped at the chance for the stone crab claw appetizer. They also have an entree with them, but the 4 on the starter were just enough to get us underway. For our main dish, we had a tough choice to make, but ultimately went with the 3 fish platter option. We had Mahi Mahi, fresh local shrimps and oysters, the former grilled, the latter lightly fried. They also offer blackened but we had done that the night before. We were very pleased with that choice. All of the fish were prepared fresh and cooked to a perfect temp and condition...not too much for too little to be soggy. We loved them all. Now the sides. There are plenty of options but we wanted to go off the beaten path of French Fries so we opted for the Tomatoes and Okra, and boy were we pleased. Stewed, but again not so much as to be mushy, just the right texture and subtle seasoning. And I cannot forget, or say enough about the hush puppies. Wonderful. The only down side is that you only get 2 and since we were sharing, we should've ordered another side of them. While to date only minimal reviews might have deterred us from experiencing Kitchen 251, we were so glad that we went all in. One final mention, while not a large place they do also have a very nice water facing patio that in warmer temps would be appealing. read more

The shrimp was fresh and sweet. The staff is very polite, and the place is a laid-back atmosphere. The gentleman playing that afternoon in the heat of the sun was excellent. I think his name was Cory (I could be wrong), I actually didn't plan on staying, but his music kept me for a while just to relax and enjoy the music. They're closed on Sunday and Monday, but it seems as if the owner is looking out for her staff. read more

Went to kitchen 251 for the first time! Had the fresh catch fish sandwich! It was cooked perfectly and arrived right off the grill. My friend had the shrimp salad tacos. Very good. While a bit pricey, the food and service was excellent! It was hot so we dined inside. The views from every table inside were great! I will definitely go back and try the outside dining! This restaurant used to be one of our favorite restaurants to go to. It had great food and great views of the harbor but now it is surviving on its past reputation. The prices have gone up and the serving sizes have gone down. The shrimp (if you can find them under the mound of French fries) are few in number and smaller than they used to be. The food is usually "just warm" by the time it is served. The traffic going out is horrible and you take your life into your hands if you try to go towards Amelia Island. All in all, it's not worth the effort to go there. read more

Our first time at kitchen 251 and I hope not our last. Our food and service was great. I had the fried mahi-mahi-mahi and it was awesome, the hush puppies were great and we then order a side of hush puppies to have more. My wife and a friend had the special which was grilled mahi-mahi with grilled shrimp on a bed of rice and they said theirs was awesome as well. I had the key lime pie it was good and my wife had the chocolate turtle cheese cake and she said it was marvelous. Our waitress was Hannah and she was a great waitress, friendly and kind. The outdoor deck is one of the best views around and the food is pretty darn good too. Menu keeps changing and they have happy servers. Can't beat the view. But getting in there is a struggle for a guy in a wheelchair. They have a great ramp and access but it's always cluttered with stuff from the kitchen and it's just too much trouble to keep getting them to clear it to make the ramp usable. Haven't been in a while for that reason. read more

I have been waiting for the restaurant to finally open as the 251 food truck was amazing and I knew that Chef Michael was going to have a home run or catch the big one if your fishing. There is inside and outside (pet friendly) patio seating which looks over the marina and the high grass marsh area. In the evening now there is simply no reason not to sit outdoors and enjoy the view and the weather. Tonight their was live music on the patio, a one man Jimmy Buffet singing guy who was not that off key but still entertaining. My meal consisted of the shrimp basket with 2 sides, baked potato and mac n cheese, which I shared. There were also delicious hush puppies that needed no butter...but whatever...butter it was...more deliciousness. Shrimp were local and so fresh and good. I usually count the shrimp, but not this time, but it was alot of shrimp. The mac and cheese was very chefesque meaning you could tell that was his recipe. Interesting and good, I would put it in my top 5 of all time. I could have passed on the baked potato for more mac and cheese. There was no room for dessert and I actually felt I overwhelmed myself with all the goodness that I ate....oh I forgot to mention...the appetizer of hand cut onion rings were awesome AF! read more

Stopped in for lunch on a whim and so glad we did. The food is excellent-my husband got the Mahi and shrimp creole and he said it was perfectly prepared. I had a cheeseburger and fries-burger was cooked just right and their secret sauce really added a nice kick. We also tried their key lime pie (was so delicious) which our very nice waiter told us was made in house.
