I don't want to be too harsh because I know how hard it is to keep a restaurant going, especially as the price of everything keeps going up, buuuut, this is the third time in as many months that I've been disappointed in this location. The menu is very different, the sizes are smaller, and the quality has gone down. The last time I was here was still the old menu, and it was decent, but the service was atrocious. It took forty minutes to get two salads and a sandwich to go, and the restaurant was empty except for one couple dining in and another takeout order (who ordered after me but got their food before me). There were two front of house employees and at least three people in the kitchen. Today, the menu was really different, many new options were not enticing, and the size of the sandwich that I was really glad to still see on the menu was half the size it used to be. I mentioned that the menu changed and how sad I was about it, but then the cashier didn't mention that the sandwich was going to be much smaller than what I was expecting. I would have happily bought more food if I had known, but now I just feel tricked and disappointed. Major bummer. :( read more

This small hip eatery is a locally owned restaurant. It is super casual and you order up at The counter. They did forget my pico de gallo with my omelette. Overall I would say it's a decent restaurant for the area. It's pretty much self-service but they do come and clean up your plates at the end. Would recommend for breakfast. read more

Two weeks in a row we chose to use the restaurant to order food for families that are sick with cancer and a family welcoming a newborn baby. One from a call in which was paid for and scheduled, one from online and speaking with a team member after. Both times the food was not ready or even in the works and essentially had to be searched for because the orders were not found or shift change had occurred. In both instances the staff was very rude and far from accommodating, had no remorse for their lack of customer services simply even stating at one point "I'm one of the managers do you want the order or do you want a refund" after I had already shared with her my frustration. It is my fault but I felt like the restaurant deserved a 2nd chance only for the 2nd encounter to be much worse than the first. As a small business owner who works to give small business vs chains my business , I would not recommend giving your business to a place who's staff has no empathy or concern for anyone other than themselves. read more

Usually when I come here I end up getting breakfast. Their breakfast in my opinion is okay. I do usually tend to choose IHOP over this place. Today my husband and I tried the chicken salad for the first time and we were both a bit disappoint, especially since this is what they were known for! I got the avocado chicken salad on sourdough and it was very dry and had no flavor. Would not recommend trying this one! However I did try the one my husband ordered, he got the buffalo chicken salad. I would recommend this and I would personally get this the next time. With that being said overall this place is okay. Food seems basic to me. Not terrible, but not the best. (I've tried this place 3 times and I end up saying the same thing) Maybe I just haven't tried the right thing here? In the many time's, that I've eaten here, today I was disappointed in the service and the food. My fried egg had runny white, my ham was somewhat cold and had more fat than previously eaten, my coffee cup was chipped and when I asked about getting another non-chipped cup, the girl said that was how a lot of the cups were. I hope that this was just an isolated incident. Also, when the coffee ran out I asked about it and was told that the staff would get around to it. After several minutes, I asked a different girl and she promptly went and got a new, refilled container of coffee. I plan to return and hope things will be better and hopefully will find chip-free coffee cups. read more

I got the senior breakfast "deal". The ham and bacon so so minus is best rating I can give. By the time I got my breakfast it was like warm at best. Potatoes are like cubed French fries. Mine were cold French fries.(Yuck) The Place was Jamed but I think I prefer ihop. Bacon had liquid smoke over smoke flavor. I asked for extra crispy but mine was not so I got Wierd chopped up ham. Doesn't even rate ho hum. IHOP next time. Don't think there are very good breakfast places in Longview, which is reason for so many people here. People seem to socialize in this place. Visiting Longview Texas and decided to order a quick lunch to be delivered. My daughter got a Cobb salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing and I chose a BLT with pasta salad. We also ordered broccoli cheese soup. My daughter said the salad had a "weird taste," but it had blue cheese crumbles in it so maybe she didn't like that with the raspberry dressing. The BLT was large, with a lot of bacon. It fell apart in the to-go box because there was no wrapping or anything holding it together. But, it was easily put back in place and it was very good. The pasta salad was very oily. It had a good taste, but just very greasy. The soup...They must have been out of broccoli cheese soup because, although the receipt had "ask soup" on it, no one called to ask my second choice. They gave me what must have been chicken tortilla. I'm so glad they were out of our first choice because this chicken tortilla was some of the best I've ever had...big pieces of chicken and corn in a nice creamy soup. Yum. I'd definitely order it next time. All in all we'd go back. We just might forego blue cheese crumbles and the pasta salad. read more

I placed a last minute order for a tray of mini croissant sandwiches for the super bowl today at the Longview location. I haven't eaten at Roost in years and the last time was under different ownership at the Tyler location. We got Honey Walnut, Thai Peanut and .... southern, maybe? It is way more food than we needed buuut that's a good thing because I've already eaten three & set a few aside for lunch tomorrow. I can't pick a favorite but I can tell you it's all delicious. Kari recognized me as I walked in the door and met me in the dining room with my order. They had a line of guests waiting to order breakfast & I didn't have to wait to take my order home! It's a definite plus that the food is good, but.. when you've got good people, everything else just seems to fall into place. Thanks to Kari, Manny, & their team for a great spread. I had gotten the Jalapeno chicken scoop salad, cause I thought there was no celery in it. But as I was eating it, I just so happened to look down and saw celery pieces in it. The food tasted good. But all i'm asking is for a lil honesty. Online menu says "3 slices" for french toast plate. In person and online ordering says 4 slices. i'm thinking sweet better than i expected. So that's what i order. First off, it came way latter than my sides. But then i get it - it's two slices, cut in half. That's not what was offered but that's how they do it here I guess. If they took me to the back and showed me that's how their bread comes in some weird triangle shape, then fine I'd give it to them. But you're being dishonest. Just call it a half slice and it be all good. No one anyone calls a half slice a whole slice except here. The person dropping the food off offered to bring another slice (I guess two slices by their definition) when I ask curiously if the order was correct. So at least that was nice. I got pancake combo with eggs, potatoes, and bacon. The made my pancakes chocolate chip and they were delicious. My pancakes were fluffy, light, chocolatey and so delicious! They're huge and I couldn't finish all of them. The eggs and potatoes were OK, nothing some salt and pepper couldn't fix. I wish they had put a to more seasoning on the eggs and potatoes. The bacon was perfection though. The service was good and my food came out quickly. I would recommend giving it a try. read more

I heard about the chicken salad and had to check it out and wasn't impressed, and it's way overpriced. Nothing special about this place.

I love eating here! Sometimes I eat in house and sometimes I eat to go. Either way is fine, no issues. I enjoy eating here for breakfast lunch or dinner. Lol I get the Texas breakfast. It's a perfect mix for breakfast! They have great tuna and chicken salad my husband says. As a family our kids enjoy here too and get excited. Highly recommend!
