Keith Johnson and his All Stars were hands-down the BEST wedding music I've ever experienced...although I might be biased since they performed at my own wedding hee hee :D We chose KJAS after scouring every last detail of the local offerings. The reasons we choice them are 1) They actually have a legit website with info, pricing, and samples of their performances, 2) Those samples show how talented they truly are, 3) They aren't limited to cheesy wedding standards. They have lots of soul, 90's R&B hits (love it!), and also stay apprised on the newest Top 40 jams. I'm giving them 5 stars because: 1) They delivered to a T, 2) Working with Keith was great. OMG, wow is all I can say! I was absolutely thoroughly impressed with KJ All Stars. This was easily one of the best vendors I hired for our wedding, they were absolutely extraordinary! They were professional, showed up early and looking sharp, set everything up, and executed flawlessly. First let's talk about the talent. It was beyond what you could imagine, the band sounds incredible live, and Keith's vocals are out of this world. I received so many compliments that night on the band and on Keith's incredible voice. What I was particularly impressed with is how they are chameleons and can easily change genres to fit the crowd. They played music that really went with our requests and the crowd was DEFINITELY hyped on the dance floor! The tender moments were perfect, I actually need a recording of Keith singing "Let's Stay Together" like he did for our first dance, b/c he and the band were BREAKING IT DOWN!! He was also a great MC and was able to move seamlessly from our First Dance to the Daddy Daughter Dance, etc. In terms of organization, they get an A+ again. The manager Chris was very responsive and professional via email. The entire process was perfect for a busy bride, mail a deposit check, then when it gets close to the wedding, highlight the song list with your favorites, then sit back and let them wow you! I didn't have to hold their hands, they knew what to do! I would also add that if as a couple you are torn between DJ or band, KJ All Stars is the PERFECT option. Not only are they a fabulous band, but Keith is also a fantastic DJ, and the times that they broke from performing live music to play some recorded hits were really seamless and a huge hit, especially with our younger crowd. I am sure they will play live music and then DJ in whatever percentages you want, so you could get a great combo of both because they do both flawlessly! KJ All Stars hit all the notes (no pun intended), and if I had a wedding again to renew my vows they would be the first vendor I would rehire. We had such an amazing time with KJ Allstars!! They have such a great soulful sound combined with an awesome pop sound that truly creates a magical time out on the dancefloor! We really loved that they allowed us to come and hear the band in person in the studio before our event. Stop looking and book them! They brought great energy throughout the night, played a fantastic range of music, and kept the party going well into the night! Work with management to get CLEAR timelines for when they need music lists (father/daughter, first dance, mother/son, ceremony music) as we had to scramble 2 weeks prior to the wedding (which my husband also commented on in his post, b-man r). It all ended out fantastic, they even brought their horn players in for our procession song of 'Signed Sealed Delivered' which got the party started right away!! Planning/coordinating: At the beginning of trying to set up the dates was a bit confusing because I had a difficult time reaching Chris through his number. Since I booked the band about almost a year before my wedding date so therefore the wait was a drag. Before deciding which band was used, Chris offered us to attend one of the weddings that they were playing close to where we lived. So that was very nice of him. Once I saw the performance from the band, I felt in love with their energy and vocals. One week before the wedding we just had a brief conversation over the phone to what we would like for the night and the run down. Wedding night: Chris sang a solo of "Always and Forever" for me and my partner which I did not planned or expected. That was a WOW moment for everyone. The dancing for the night was amazing. Got everyone to the dance floor. Some of my guests complaint about their knees hurting the next day from all this dancing. They did so well with our song choices. Since they really hyped up the crowd and we only booked the band till 10pm, Chris offered to continue to play music through his ipod while they are cleaning up. That was very thoughtful of him and which he extended our party till 11pm. Feedback: Next time if I have a chance to work with them again, I would arrange their breaks a bit better with more communications. There were a couple of down times during dinner but they redeemed themselves with the solo and the dance at the end of the night. Overall: Great job and thank you for the fun times. We hired the KJ Allstars to play our wedding this past September and it was the best decision we could have made. We worked with Chris to set everything up and he also was our lead singer. Chris was professional, patient and prompt leading up to the wedding and on the night of the event, he absolutely killed it. Would definitely recommend the KJ All Stars without hesitation. We hired them for our wedding, and the band nailed it. They were professional, full of energy, and did a great job of reading the room and adjusting their set list accordingly. We're still getting comments from friends and family about how much they loved the band. I often found myself following up multiple times over the course of a week or two without any reply back. I needed a DJ last minute for our company holiday party and KJ All Stars not only made the process painless but they delivered a DJ that made EVERYONE get down on the dance floor. DJ Dre is the man! We had a brief phone call regarding the type of music I wanted for the event and with having to go into deep detail, he know exactly what I was hoping for and completely OVER DELIVERED come party time. It was incredible. We are still talking about how much fun we had and how the music was just absolutely perfect. Choosing KJ All Stars was, by far, the easiest decision we made for our wedding. I remember when we decided to book them. It was right after we left the audition. I looked to my fiance at the time (now husband) and said, "Let's cancel all of the other auditions that we have lined up. No need to look any further." It's one of those things where when you hear the band in person, you'll just know immediately that they're the ones. We hired them for a 6 piece band. Keith has tremendous vocal ability. During the beginning of dinner service, you could see the amazed looks on our guests' faces because Keith was really throwing it down, belting out notes that just made you take notice and appreciate what you were hearing. When it came time to get the party started, KJ All Stars got it started effortlessly. Jessica also performed with Keith that night and was as equally talented. I remember our guests asking for repeated encores of Jessica's rendition of Prince because it was that good. If you want a fun wedding, this is THE band to hire. They can sing anything and I mean anything. They can even sing songs I don't like and make me like them. What they have on their playlist doesn't even begin to do justice to the breadth of music they can cover. Really amazing artists. They are very talented, play all the best songs, and keep the dance floor a non-stop party! They are one of the only bands that you can actually hear before you buy. We were able to visit one of their rehearsals which was a great experience in itself--felt like a private concert for me and my fiancé. So fun! They are very flexible with packaging so you can pick how big or small you want the band depending on your needs. And you can use different musicians at different times throughout your event. We hired the guitarist for our ceremony, a 3-piece for our cocktail hour, a 9-piece band for the reception, and then a DJ for the after party. We hired KJ & the All Stars for our vineyard wedding in Healdsburg and they were amazing! We were having trouble finding a motown band that also played pop & hip hop. We were trying to stray away from the typical cheesy wedding band. They were perfect and played a wide variety of motown, r&b, classic rock, pop, hip-hop and top 20 hits. We hired the All Stars for our Carmel Valley wedding, and we could not be any happier that we did! Below are the reasons why you should also hire them, especially if you like Motown! Professionalism: We worked closely with their manager Michael and from a business perspective, he was nothing but accommodating and professional throughout the process. Michael was always willing to speak with us over the phone and address any questions/concerns we may have had (in fact, he took a call with us on his vacation!) and he made sure we had a final touch base in the month leading up to the wedding. Quality Performance: We didn't want The All Stars to leave the stage at our wedding! The band is incredibly talented, and they really know how to work the crowd/work off the crowd's energy. We were so appreciative because they were willing to learn 4 new songs for us (and had no problem infusing custom lyrics into one of the songs to carry out a family joke). They really rocked the party, playing something for everyone from ages 21-71. They were as good playing Blurred Lines as they were playing Earth Wind & Fire, 80's and Motown. Best. Band. Ever. The Allstars Band/KJ All Stars are amazing!!! They played at our winery wedding in May 2014 (at St. Francis Winery and Vineyards), and we absolutely could not have asked for a better band. Interestingly, we were a little apprehensive beforehand - we were not able to preview the band in-person, so we selected them based on online sound clips. I cannot stress this enough - the online clips do not do them justice!! Just as we requested, the band played low-key, background music during dinner after our wedding ceremony. The music was really nice and pleasant without being overwhelming. Later, they played our first dance song, which, if I understand correctly, they learned just for our wedding. They performed it perfectly! Then, they really got the crowd going with party songs. They read the crowd wonderfully and played off of them to make sure everyone had a good time. The lead singer even got out on the dance floor and danced with us while singing! Every single person at the reception had a great time. Two words: Hire them! I hired KJ Allstars for my wedding and didn't really have much time to go over details such as time line and music selection with them, so I was a bit nervous before the event. However, as soon as I walked into the reception hall and heard them playing, I was completely at ease. EVERYONE loved the music, and asked me for their information. I was worried no one would get up and dance, but 30 minutes into dinner and everyone was on their feet. More than half of the guests were older Asian people, and even they loved the band. We had KJ All Stars for our wedding in the Santa Cruz mountains in July 2015. They were excellent at the wedding - the female singer was great, their song list was diverse and fun (and appealed to a broad set of ages), the band was responsive and kind during the actual wedding, and our guests had a great time (many commented afterwards how much they loved the band). We searched a lot for a great reasonably-priced band with a broad song list in the San Francisco area and this was the best option we found -- we're happy we did. We're not giving 5 stars for a few reasons, namely: a) They were pretty unresponsive over the months before the wedding whenever we emailed with questions which was stressful for us. We basically had to chase them down through phone calls to get them to respond; b) when we first booked them at their live audition, they said they'd work with us to craft a playlist tailored to our preferences - in actuality we had to badger them several times to get them to even send us their list of songs they could play, and once we told them the songs we hoped they'd play or not play they didn't really stick to that in the performance; c) Keith himself didn't sing very much, almost at all, and he had been a large part of the reason we had initially booked the group. d) when we did interact with them in the weeks before their wedding, they (namely Keith and Chris) weren't very kind, patient or understanding in addressing our concerns about who would be the lead singer and what the playlist would be given that Keith wouldn't be singing as much as initially promised. Their response to us was basically always "don't worry about it, we'll figure it out", which was honestly not very reassuring to hear in the days before our wedding. The live audition with them a year before the wedding was great - Keith and the band sounded really good, and they gave us the impression that they'd be easy to work with and responsive. However, our experience after that audition did not live up to the expectations they set then. We don't know whether the fact that Keith didn't sing much was just something that happened on the day of our wedding, or whether it's an on-going thing, but certainly recommend that people thinking of booking them do a live audition and really clarify who the singers will be on the day of the wedding. So overall, we had a very good wedding experience with this band on the day-of and our guests loved them, but they were definitely less responsive and kind in the months leading up to the wedding than we would have liked, which caused us more stress than with any of our other vendors. I think they could be great for people who don't have strong preferences about the actual songs that'll be played on the day-of, and who don't have a desire to be in touch with them in the months before the wedding. If you're looking for a great band that'll sound good on the day of and has a diverse playlist that appeals to a variety of audiences, the KJ All-Stars are a great option. read more

Like the many great reviews I have read about performances by the KJ All Stars Band, I also cannot say enough nice things about the group. We had experienced their music and presentation at a wedding a year earlier, but I swear they were even better this time around. We used them for the wedding ceremony, cocktails and dinner, along with the after reception dancing. Each part was done exceptionally well, without even a minor hiccup, with total professionalism, enthusiasm and perfection. They arrived in plenty of time to a facility a long way away and made it a very special night. All of our guests have commented about the band making ALL the difference. As the night progressed and the dancing got more and more fun, the guitar player and vocalists came out into the crowd like they were part of the party. At no time did it feel or look like they were just there for a paid gig. Instead they make you feel like they were looking forward to the night as much as you were. I have worked with Keith and his band for many years. I met Keith in 2008 and was impressed by his knowledge, experience, and professionalism. I hired him to play for a corporate event during a healthcare conference. I asked for 4-5 hours of non-stop dance music. In the past, other bands insisted to start slow or play slow songs during the event, ignoring my request and the tempo of the crowd. Keith took care of all the arrangements including the song list. Our daughter had only one "must have" for her wedding and that was a "good band". What we got with Chris and the All Stars was a great band! Everything from the audition to the final song could not have been better. Chris was extremely accommodating all through the planning stages and made the whole process easy. All of the band members were fantastic musicians that made the whole night so very special. My wife didn't want to let them go home! He band performance for our wedding reception was fantastic! We had three members for the cocktail hour and a six piece band for the reception. They had a ton of energy and were great at getting our guests out on the dance floor! Really great variety of music and the band members are really talented. The only negative I have about the All-Stars is that they were sometimes slow to respond to emails. However the band did such an incredible job that we didn't hesitate to give them a five star review. read more

I cannot express enough what an amazing experience I had with KJ Allstars at my wedding. From acoustic ceremony music to a New Orleans style second line brass band march to boogieing until the end, I don't think there is anything that they can't handle. Every guest we have spoken with has, without fail, noted what a kick a$$ band we had. From the first dance to the last, our entire party was on the dance floor the entire time.
