My first appointment with Des Peres Smiles was phenomenal. I have driven by this office coming home from work and didn't think much of it, but it's actually a great office and very close to my house. The staff were great -- from the receptionist Shannon to the tech Allison and finally, the dentist Dr. Nicole Niewdach. She was knowledgeable and kind, and she along with Allison were very gentle while operating on me. I felt like I was in great hands. The office was very clean as well. I first went in for a consult and scans that were sent off to SureSmile, and during that appointment they really took the time to listen to what I specifically wanted to improve. Then I went back in to review the 3D model and treatment plan, which was actually really cool to see. That appointment felt very conversational and relaxed, and they were happy to answer all of my questions and concerns without making me feel rushed or pressured! I haven't seen this doctor since moving to Chicago almost a decade ago and he still spent 10 minutes on the phone with me explaining the information to pass along to my current dentist and advising me on what needs to be corrected. I also have tons of old dental work and over the past 25 yrs, other dentists have tried relentlessly to get me to remove old molar fillings and replace for no reason other than the "look". I never felt this pressure from Dr. D. He asked me if any were painful or bothering me, explained that if I wanted to get them replaced someday i could, and moved on. In this environment, I had to remind myself that I wasn't waiting for my masseuse to come out; I was waiting for my dentist. Entering the back of the house, I felt like I was in an episode of the 2010 television series, V. Each dentist chair was set in its own pod-like room, complete with a flat-screen LCD TV overhead and massage settings in the chair. My hygienist graciously asked what channel I wanted to watch while I had my teeth cleaned and wanted to know if she should activate the massage feature on the chair. . .well, hells yes! Dr. Mathew performed the ultrasonic teeth cleaning, a method with which I was previously unfamiliar, but for which I am now a total fan! She was extremely informative and educational in her approach to my dental health, all while being very sensitive to my comfort level. My dental hygienist was very friendly and personable, and really seemed to make my comfort her top priority. It's no wonder this place has been featured on St. Louis Magazine's Top Dentists list for two years running. They have transformed what once was a hellish experience for me with my former dentist in to a thoroughly enjoyable experience that I will no longer fear. My wife and I went down to our daughters friends wedding, and my daughter tripped and chipped her front tooth. She was devastated and in from out of town so the first thing I did was call Dr. Schneider at 10:30 pm on Saturday night and he said to meet him at the office at noon Sunday (today). We got there and Dr. Schneider took great care of her and we were in and out. We were so impressed with the personal attention that he gave us and the results are incredible.
