Update 12.12.21. I knocked down two stars... all for the back office team. Dr. Strohmeyer himself is an oustanding, excellent dental practitioner of his craft, but the back office leaves a lot to be desired. Got a $300.00+ surprise billing several months after I received service. Not keen on receiving those types of surprises. I understand their stated "rationale" in dealing with insurance but given the situation, not having a financial compromise in place was very short-sighted. Dr. Strohmeyer should start paying more attention to this, otherwise I suspect more reviews like this will manifest itself. Make no mistake -- back office is decidedly a three star outfit but Dr. Strohmeyer and his dental team are 5 star for caring, skill, proficency and treatment. After a few visits to Dr. Strohmeyer, all that anxiety was gone. Not only is he fabulous, but his entire staff is absolutely wonderful. Dr. Strohmeyer and his staff are total rockstars. Seriously, these people are amazing -- I've been petrified of going to the dentist since I was a small child, and I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment. I cannot say enough nice things about the team here. Kathleen is the Best. Hygienist. Ever. The woman is a genius, and she's also really, really friendly. My last hygienist made me cry, and this one makes me want to bake her cookies (sugar-free, of course). Even though she had some bad news for me (I have cavities), she made the cleaning/checkup totally painless. Dr. Strohmeyer is really nice, and super professional. He talked me through all of the options for my treatment plan (okay, so maybe I have more than just a couple of cavities) and actually made a root canal not sound that terrible. Let me say that again: he made a root canal not sound that terrible. The front desk staff are awesome, as well. Not only were they great about scheduling my next appointments, but when I mentioned that I might be changing insurance plans soon, Ann started writing down phone numbers of the best dental plans she knew of. So yeah. I've found my dentist. Please try not to swarm the office with appointments, because I have a few more cavities to get filled. And that root canal. read more

Thanks to Jenny A.'s recommendation, I've been to Dr. Strohmeyer's twice now, and have been super impressed with the fellow, his operation, and facilities. Here's a list of observations you might want to consider if you're looking for a dentist: 1. Dr. Strohmeyer is very thorough and doesn't cut any corners during your visit. You'll be wearing eye protection even during a routine exam, and he starts your checkups with a quick head and neck exam. 2. The office is extremely clean. All the equipment stays covered at all times, and I'm not sure I could find a dirty spot in the place if I looked. 3. The support staff is very efficient and friendly. Dr. Strohmeyer's assistant and the hygienist are both professional and warm. 4. Customer service is spot-on. When they were a few minutes late for an appointment, they expressed their apologies later that evening and offered to compensate me for my time, explaining that they take my time and their own punctuality very seriously. 5. When you start up as a new customer, the dentist asks whether you prefer to prioritize value, inexpensiveness, or top-of-the-line care in his recommendations to you. This means that he can advise you based on your particular budget and insurance from the get-go. For a graduate student like myself, this flexibility is very valuable. My last visit, I had a cavity filled. My last filling was done on a baby tooth, so it's been a good while since I've had the procedure done-- I was pretty anxious! The professionalism of the staff, though, made everything go quickly and smoothly, and I was so comfortable I practically fell asleep. Now that's high praise for a dentist. I can't believe I'm actually giving a dentist 5 stars, but I truly am. I have had horrible dentist experiences and despite the good reviews on here, I was still skeptical. And while nothing about going to the dentist is comfortable, I at least felt confident that while here, my teeth were being treated well, I wasn't getting scammed out of my money, and they truly cared about me...well, my mouth, at least. :) The assistants were wonderful and sweet, and the dentist actually surprised me with his "next-door neighbor" demeanor. A nice guy. I ended up getting my teeth cleaned but then went back and got them to replace a cap on a chipped tooth. They did a fantastic job and really paid attention to detail. I've already recommended them to friends and I certainly recommend them to anyone who asks. read more

Yep...this place is too good to be true. Thank you Yelp, for helping me find my new, improved, and permanent dentist :) Just like everyone else, dental visits FREAK me out. So much that I'll skip a couple years here and there as well as push certain procedures off :-/ Which backfired by the way because I ended up having to get a tooth extracted. I've been here twice for cleanings before having to go in yesterday to get my tooth pulled. Both cleanings were pleasant, but yesterday's story was different....I was convinced: no way, no how will today's appointment leave me feeling any ounce of "good." Low and behold...1. I'm alive 2. Did he really pull a tooth?? are you sure?? The infected tooth was taking a long time to numb, but he was extremely patient and continued giving me local anesthetics until I was absolutely positive I was ready and could only feel pressure and no bit of sting, pinch, pain, anything else. The shots usually bother me, but he does some sort of "cheek pinch/shake" while he is giving the injectable so I didn't even feel it. Before I knew it, it was over and completely painless. He explained everything he was doing, kept asking how I was feeling, etc. The whole process took about 30 minutes from the time I walked into the office to the time I checked out. His tech. Awesome. Hygienist. Awesome. Staff. Awesome. And to put 2 cherries on top...: I got a gift card at checkout for a free frozen custard sunday. Something about my dentist "rewarding" me with ice cream made me feel....well, special. LOL. Annnnnnd... He called my cell that evening to make sure I was doing okay. I would also like to credit my gf, Jenny A, for discovering Dr. Strohmeyer. Best. Dentist. Ever. This is despite going to the same dentist throughout my entire childhood (a close family friend.) This is also despite my previous positive review of the practice I went to in Chicago for the better part of seven years. Andy D pretty much nailed it spot on with his analysis, but he left out the thing that I was impressed with the most. I had a crown done on a Friday just after lunch early this past summer. Later that evening, around 8:30, Dr. S. called to make sure that I was feeling okay and didn't have any problems. He really goes out of his way to make sure his patients get the care they deserve even though it takes time out of his day with his wife and kids. Again, impressed. His assistants also do a great job of figuring out my benefits which are very complicated. I'm one of two employees in St. Louis for a national company that is based on the west coast, so my dental coverage doesn't really have a network. They do a great job of estimating what I will owe in advance so I can work it all out financially with my FSA account. read more

Really great dentist! Went for a cleaning a few weeks ago and was back this morning to get a couple of cavities filled. Dr. Strohmeyer is very nice and does great work. His staff is really great as well. I've been to their office 3 times and have been entertained by him and his staff every time :) It's nice to laugh at the dentist! Also... one of my absolute pet peeves at the dentist is when they yell at or are mean to their dental assistants while working on my teeth, so I was pleased that he was so nice and courteous to not only me, but to his staff as well! He even remembered that I was a singer and was asking me about what artists I like to cover when I play gigs. They staff is also really great about explaining all the treatment options and helping you understand what insurance will cover verses what will be out of pocket. I need to thank the Yelpers of St. Louis for helping me find my new dentist! I saw Dr. Strohmeyer this morning, and he was fantastic. I had the most comprehensive X-Rays and cleaning I think I've ever had. And I've definitely never had the dentist himself clean my teeth - that was awesome. He also does a full checkup of your gum health - and while it kinda hurts like a bitch, he explains why it's necessary, which makes it a little better. The entire office was super friendly and clean. First and most importantly, I had a TERRIBLE dental phobia, and Dr. Strohmeyer has made it better. I have been to many dentists and hated them all. I'm sticking with Dr. S.! His office is conveniently located, and parking is easy. There are a few reserved spots in the big parking lot, and one or more of them is always open. They just remodeled their office, and it's large and clean. Everyone who works there is nice and friendly. He listens to a variety of music, so you never know what you'll be listening to. I was so dental phobic that I didn't see a dentist for years, which led to the need for crowns and root canals, which made my phobia worse. When I first saw him, I had had a temporary crown on for two years that was only intended to be on for a month or two. I've been going there for about two years and he fixed all the problems in my mouth. I just had a cleaning this week and no further procedures are needed! I even recruited my husband to start coming to him too. I highly recommend. The only bad thing I would say is that all of the hygienists are a little too rough with the cleanings. Hannah is the best one there for the cleanings. Still, A+! read more

I went here with a semi-emergency situation. My previous dentist had retired and I had not settled on a new one to this point. Going to a new dentist can be a traumatic experience...umm, well going to the dentist period can be traumatic. I will be not be looking past Dr. Strohmeyer's office from here on out. To start, his staff was kind enough to squeeze me in on short notice even though I wasn't a current patient. After a thorough examination Dr. Strohmeyer went out of his way to explain to me all of my options. And if that was not enough, a temporary cosmetic filling solution was offered to get me through an upcoming event. Which by the way was not painful what-so-ever even though drilling was involved. I have to be one of the worlds biggest dental chickens. I was only in St Louis on a temporary job assignment, and needed dental work done. Went on the Yelp site, and found Dr Strohmeyer. I read the reviews and decided to take a chance. I am so happy that I did. The entire experience was one of the best dental experiences I've ever had. Everyone was so considerate, and understanding, and even with my tight schedule, they were able to get the most immediate work done all in one visit. Great dentist! Very Thorough exam. Very clean facility with nice staff. Appointment was made quickly. I only waited about 5-10 minutes in total. I came back for a filling. He did a great job and made a note to talk with me during the filling to keep my mind off things. There was a small bit from the filling that needed to be shaved off prior to my leaving, and he was more than happy to take care of it. This second time I came to his office, I barely had time to put my bag down, and I was already in the back. Literally about a 15 second wait time! Highly recommend. read more

Dr. Strohmeyer goes out and f his way to make sure you are comfortable during what many consider and feel as a bad time. Through his superb knowledge and bed side manner, Dr. Matt makes you at ease. I've had all of my teeth pulled and through a variety of different dentists and the pain afterwards has ranged from mind numbingly kill me now all the way to pain free after a day (which has been the case with Dr. Strohmeyer for my last 2 visits where extracted 5 teeth between them. He even called me that night just to make sure things were going good and remind me to call him if I needed anything at all.
