Kloter's Ice Cream Barn is located in the Kloter Farms complex. Parking this time of year, mid-week was ok. I believe weekends (or even hot weekdays) in the summer would be a nightmare for parking. Order and pay at one window. Pick up at the next. Interesting flavors for hard ice cream. I ordered two scoops, one each of Caramel Apple Crumb and Beez Neez. The cost was $7.51 (plus optional tip). I thought both flavors were deliciously decadent, especially the CAC. This time of year, yellow jackets are out in force, and they dive-bombed my ice cream. I think they were p o'ed that I was eating their cousins (Beez Neez), maybe? In any event, great ice cream that is not made on -site, and a bit pricey, but worth a splurge every once in a while. I overheard the owner an older woman speak to the young kids who work there in a very awful way. She said "are you stupid or just slow" so loudly that the entire line could hear. The people who run this place are supposedly religious people, but clearly their nice persona around town isn't all that nice, especially to their employees. The ice cream is way over priced. They rip off the public. It's pathetic to speak to minors in that way as a boss! I feel bad for the teens working in that environment. read more

My peanut butter swirl hard ice cream was loaded with peanut butter. More than any other similar ice cream I've eaten. They have nice outdoor picnic tables to eat there. There is a playground nearby. Kloter's Ice Cream Barn is nestled into a family owned business that sells barns, playscapes, garages, etc. The staff is always friendly and there are sometimes family events on the weekends, with a fun little train ride around the property. Their ice cream is always delicious, with choices of hard, soft and even dairy free (the raspberry sorbet is excellent). You can even have it on top of a homemade waffle cone! I would suggest going on a rainy day, because you get double punches on your loyalty card (you're welcome for that little gem). On colder nights they will light up the fire pit to sit around. One of my favorite ice cream spot. Great flavors of ice cream and they also have doggy ice creams which makes it easy to bring your dog. I like the chairs setup around the fire pit. The only feedback / drawback is that they are closed on a Sunday during summer which I think should be relooked as I'd expect a lot of more folks drive in during weekends. This is a fun place to have an ice cream. Flavors are a bit mild though. Especially cotton candy flavor was disappointing. Kloter krunch was my favorite here. It was kind of a vanilla and caramel mix. Pumpkin flavor came second. Toasted coconut and cup a coffee were decent flavors. read more

Small shed with take out ice cream from three different locations: Pralines, Kreider Farms, and 1 other place that I do not know of. Their ice cream is decent, but nothing to write home about. The place itself is pretty cool because it is a huge furniture outlet, and the portion where the ice cream shed lies is where they sell their sheds and gazebos. Therefore there is a bunch of comfortable outdoor seating options all around. No indoor seating however. They did not have my go-to flavor, chocolate chip, which was disappointing; however I really enjoyed the Kloter Krunch flavor that I tried. I don't think that their waffle cones were home-made, but they were still delicious and tasted a little like sugar cookies. 4/10 read more

Wow this place was a zoo,even in October. The line was round the outdoor seating area and out to the gazebo. Guess all of Ellington had the same idea I had at the same time. Turns out there was a fund raiser for local first responders which was cool. The ice cream was great, obviously or why would that many people be in such a silly line on the last day of the season. Somehow they didn't run out of ice cream thankfully. When it came time to eat, you can lounge outside in one of their super comfy Adirondack chairs while the ce cream is enjoyed. I have been taking my kids on an "ice cream tour" of CT this week. It was surprising to find this gem in the heart of the Kloter Farms retail establishment, for whatever reason I was not expecting that. Anyways, we ordered our ice cream, the woman who served us was really nice, very patient with the kids (they order their own). I got one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of strawberry, the chocolate was excellent but the strawberry was by far the best I've had. The kids each got soft serve which they were very happy with. Nothing is better than ice cream on a hot summer day. The ice cream selection here is pretty extensive getting your basics along with some unique flavors and combinations. They have both soft serve and hard ice cream along with some frozen yogurt. Got a grasshopper pie which consist of mint frozen yogurt with crushed Oreo and chocolate chip pieces. The price is a decent. $3.99 for a cup for frozen yogurt. Good enough size getting you by easy. The area is nice having good amount of seating behind the main furniture store. Easy to miss as the sheds and tables give the vibe that it's a furniture store, which it is but this hidden gem is a nice escape from the busy world. I've seen a wide range of ages coming here to enjoy their favorite flavors. Not many people know where it is but once you find it you'll be coming back. They have a punch card for ice cream tempting you to come back. Limited hours 12-9:30pm and only open in the warmer months. read more

I was really surprised about my experience at Kloter's Ice Cream Barn. I expected a little stand by a gazebo. Turns out they have a special area just for ice cream. I was not able to tell if they make their own or buy a batch but it's good. My favorite part of the experience was sitting in an Adirondack chair by a gas fired pit. Place has gone downhill. Usually enjoy the ice cream but the service/pricing has ruined it. Went there for two scoops of ice cream and now that they added 2 vegan ice creams if you want 1 vegan scoop and 1 regular as a two scoop they charge you for two separate one scoops making it 3-4$ more. of course they don't tell you that in advance. When i questioned the logic as to why it isn't just charged as a two scoop of the more expensive one was just told "sorry thats just what we do". My theory is didn't want to admit the messup/call a manager to get a refund. Won't be going there again anytime soon. read more

Kloter's has ALWAYS been my go to ice cream place. It's local, and the flavors have always been great...until I just had my first one of the year. I have to say, I was pretty disappointed. I ordered peanut butter avalanche, which is fantastic because of the peanut butter chunks swirled throughout. Not this time. It seemed like it was just chocolate, until I found one good size chunk of peanut butter. Waffle cones are made fresh daily and usually crunchy. My cone was stale and soggy in the bottom and looked like the mixture was not mixed properly before it was made into a waffle cone. The staff that they have had in the past seemed to care about pleasing the customers more. These guys didn't listen at all. Two - two scoop waffle cones with one scoop coconut, one scoop avalanche. Sounds simple right? Nope. One cone had peanut butter, the other had coconut. I sure hope it improves. After all, it is the beginning of the season. I'll still give them four stars, because this is the first bad cone and mix up we have ever had in all the years we've been going. read more
