    Chocolate peanut butter

DON'T DRIVE BY THE GAS STATION- it's in the gas station store! An ice cream shop in a gas station store? INTERESTING! We took the kids to the ropes course nearby and promised them desert. There is a side window. Two girls working. One taking order and making order whole the other was cleaning. I have to say it was a slow process but I like that it was a well cleaned establishment. I had chocolate peanut butter ice cream in a cup. It was ok. Nothign to rave over but hit the spot. My daughter had watermelon. She liked it. The girls were nice. Average price. Nice eating area with a small kids table for patrons behind the gas station. (Have to say we did not see anyone cleaning the tables and it's still Covid times.) There is a bathroom inside the station open for patrons.

This is probably the only place to get ice cream in Tolland. Luckily, they serve both soft serve and hard ice cream from Shady Glen. The prices are very reasonable: $1.99 for one scoop and $2.99 for two scoops. They were generous portions too. Sprinkles are an additional $.40 though. I've heard people joke around because it's at a gas station so don't expect a great scenic view.

Decent little ice cream shop located in a gas station convenience store. Prices are average and they serve soft serve and normal ice cream.

I believe weekends (or even hot weekdays) in the summer would be a nightmare for parking. Order and pay at one window. Pick up at the next. Interesting flavors for hard ice cream. I ordered two scoops, one each of Caramel Apple Crumb and Beez Neez. The cost was $7.51 (plus optional tip). I thought both flavors were deliciously decadent, especially the CAC. This time of year, yellow jackets are out in force, and they dive-bombed my ice cream. I think they were p o'ed that I was eating their cousins (Beez Neez), maybe? In any event, great ice cream that is not made on -site, and a bit pricey, but worth a splurge every once in a while. And a comfortable seating area, w numerous tables, Adirondack chairs and benches. 4.5 stars

The people who run this place are supposedly religious people, but clearly their nice persona around town isn't all that nice, especially to their employees. The ice cream is way over priced. They rip off the public. It's pathetic to speak to minors in that way as a boss! I feel bad for the teens working in that environment.

BTW - Turns out it's super close to Exit 68 off Route 84. So it shouldn't have taken me this long. I'd call Camille's pizza Modern Wood-Fired Thin Crust. I ordered one with pepperoni, sausage and fresh peppers as opposed to roasted ones (which is an option) for pickup. The restaurant was nice. If you're a Prince (the musician, not the one stripped of his title -- too soon?) fan you may love the purple hues. The crust was good chewy. I loved the pepperoni. They cupped and crisped, but in a slightly different visual way than many cup and crisp pepperoni. Very cool. Tasted great too. The fresh peppers ended up being red rather than green. This is a personal preference, but I prefer green. I like the flavor of the green juice better on a pizza. I also think the green color pops better since the sauce and pepperoni are both red. I liked the pizza, but I didn't love it. I couldn't figure out why at first. I think the primary reason was the sausage. It wasn't bad. I just didn't connect with the flavor. And also I prefer larger pieces, than the smaller crumbles Camille's used. If I had this pizza without the sausage, I would have liked it better. I do have a favorable impression of Camille's though. I would definitely return. 4.25 Stars

The gas may be pricey, and the store nothing special, but the X-tra Mart in Tolland, CT on Route 30…read moreis THE spot for soft serve ice cream. I grew up in the same area this store is located and have head pretty much all the ice cream within a 20 miles radius...outside of that I can't say I've had ALL the ice cream, but I've had a lot. Even outside of Connecticut, the Tolland X-tra Mart has some of the most phenomenal soft serve ice cream you've ever had. They don't offer a lot in terms of flavor...pretty much your basic vanilla, chocolate of twist. You can get "flavor blasts" which are vanilla ice cream with a twist of some other flavor (cheesecake, grape and pineapple are a few examples) but I don't highly recommend them...not because they're not good, but because good ice cream shines without any fancy flavors added in. There is also the usual array of toppings...sprinkles (jimmies), or a dip....but only one cone option other than the basic cone; waffle. Now, I know I've painted a rather dismal picture....afterall, most good ice cream places nowadays pride themselves on the sheer variety of flavors, toppings and cones they offer. But if you're looking for something a little more simple...I promise you, you will not be disappointed. The ice cream here is creamy, and flavorful, and always perfect. I didn't know just how good soft serve ice cream could be until I started becoming a regular at this unassuming X-tramart. Give it a try...you'll probably become one too! Two tips for those who want to give it a try; -Give a shot to their soft serve sundae....it's simple, just ice cream, hot fudge or caramel (you pick), whipped cream, nuts, sprinkles and a cherry, but it is amazing. The pure goodness of the ice cream underneath all those toppings makes it a far-above ordinary experience! -If you're planning on going on a hot summer day (the perfect time for ice cream!) be aware that the lines can get LONG. The ice cream here is hardly a secret among the locals, and especially between the hours of 4 and 7 there can be an impressive amount of people for such a small establishment. I'm giving X-traMart five stars based on its ICE CREAM...I can't really speak for it's service station portion! Even despite it's simplistic variety, what X-tra Mart HAS, it does very well.
