I had to end the quotes here because I'm sure some unholy sounds came out as I ate some of the best ice cream I've ever had. What happened? We came to Milkcraft a few years ago. It was vibrant and lively inside, with lots of people trying an assortment of cool and unique flavors. The Vietnamese coffee ice cream was great. We came again today after a nice local lunch, looking for a small sweet treat to end the day. The inside was dirty. The ice cream freezer had years of ice and grime built up on the inside. It was half empty and the flavors remaining were fairly mundane. We tried the most interesting looking one - a milk and cereal creation. I haven't been to Millcraft in a few years and it was interesting to find out that they no longer serve the nitrogen mixed ice cream. I was in the area and craving a milkshake so I popped in with a friend. I got a sea salted caramel and Vietnamese milkshake and it was so delicious! Not too thick to where you need a straw, but not overly watery either. I got a waffle cone and escaped.. my wallet $12 lighter. The ice cream was soft (which I expected) but on a lukewarm evening, my ice cream quickly melted onto my lap and hands and just everywhere. I think practically speaking, that experience could be improved. Honestly despite the fact it's photograph-able and probably good-looking on social media, I don't think I would come here or EVER get an ice cream in a waffle cone ever again. I say that... but with the following two exceptions: 1. Either it would need to be much smaller or 2. I ordered a scoop of the strawberry sorbet, and as you can see in the photo, it was a little bit more than what I would call a scoop. Really gone down hill. My daughter and I Went in tonight and the building was sweltering. The AC was not working and it was unbearably hot. I felt so bad for the staff. When people in line questioned the temperature they said they thought it was going to be fixed soon. On top of it there was no outdoor seating where the temperature was much more comfortable. They used to have outdoor seating, but they had no tables or chairs outside set up so it was just two or three tables inside, but it was much too uncomfortable and hot to stay in the building. The ice cream inside the cooler area was all softening and really melting. My daughter and I both got the small, one scoop in waffle cones and it came to over $20 for the both of us. I was handed melting ice cream that was not solid! I'd be embarrassed to serve people ice cream at $11 for 1 scoop that was turning to liquid! Lastly, the staff all seemed new and very disorganized and confused. They rang me up for my daughter and my ice cream and then we stood at the end of the counter waiting and nobody was bringing us our ice cream. Nobody was scooping our ice cream and they continued to take other people in line's orders. One person was Taking the orders at the cash register and taking the money and there were like at least four other workers that weren't scooping the ice cream for the people that already gave their orders and paid. I saw them scooping the liquidy ice cream out of the refrigerator area and putting it into containers that they were bringing into a different refrigerator. Then one of the workers dropped the entire big huge tub of ice cream on the floor. She looked like she considered putting it back in, but because people saw she walked into the back with it. I 100% do not trust that she's not going to put that huge tub of ice cream back in the refrigerator. Once the people that saw it happen leave. Very unsanitary, considering it fell on the ground! She did not throw it away. She brought it into the back area. You know that's getting put back in the refrigerator. My daughter finally got her ice cream after we stood waiting even though it wasn't that busy. I continued waiting for mine but all the employees gathered around the register and no one was scooping mine. I had to then ask for mine. I'm telling you they seemed to have no system down for how to handle customers. I won't be back. Much better places elsewhere. read more

Omg!! I learned about this place in another city and never went. This is a very cool little place in a busy area. If you can, pick non-peak times so you can find parking easily. It's on a street with other great places to eat and mainly street parking. We had to circle a bit but eventually found parking. Inside it has a rustic feel and very open so you can see the magic happen which is a treat in my eyes. I like to know how much food is made. The staff were very pleasant and patient while you choose from an overwhelming menu of ice cream goodness. I took the liberty to look at the menu online and quickly picked Bourbon Breakfast that has frosted flakes and real Bourbon in the ice cream. Not a lot but just enough. The waffle cones are made right there and they put them in a holder so it's like you are eating a very tasty breakfast dessert. Very clever! The Red Velvet was amazing also. Cookie Butter Blue- blue speculoos cookies and cream butter. Ok, if you're anything like me, you might also be asking, "What are speculoos?!" On the morning of December 6, Belgian people will find their shoes/stockings filled with gifts and sugary treats. December 6 recognizes the third-century patron Saint Nicholas and the generosity he showed to those around him. He left such a lasting impact that over time his character inspired Santa Claus. Ok...back to the ice cream....lol It was delicious. I ordered it in a bubble cone-a caramelized HONG KONG style waffle made from scratch to order. This blue ice cream was fresh out of the smoking mixer. Nitrogen cold smoke that is. It was definitely a sight to see. The story goes: Milkcraft small batch creamery began with an inspiration from a stroll down a via in Capri, Italy. Their goal was to create ice cream from scratch and express their passion for artisanal flavors. Relationships with local farmers. Pursuit of the purest all natural ingredients. The s'mores was rich and chocolateee, the bourbon was just to die for, and a coffee flavor which was very strong. I am addicted! The flavors were so delicious. I didn't get the bubble cone because they weren't coming out good that day. I did get the waffle cone which was delicious. You can also get it in a large size drinking cup. I totally didn't like that they put two huge scoops in the cup and you have to eat one scoop before you can get the next. I did not know this place was back! First I'm going to be straight up and say I'm very particular about my ice cream and milk craft satisfies my concerns. I just got the PB&J flavor in a small and it was fine. Good quality ice cream but I didn't really taste the banana or the jelly so that was a little disappointing. You have to try the bubble cones when you go as they are unique and worth trying. It's a small spot so don't really plan on sitting and eating ice cream there. Service is thoroughly unremarkable. It is not close to GLASTONBURY to come there and perhaps they don't care if people travel to come to the restaurant. A very chic ice cream shop/experience nestled in West Hartford Center. When you walk through the front door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the liquid nitrogen being poured into the stand mixers. The air around condenses causing a fog to form that spills off the counters as if it was water. The interior design is clean and warming. The seating inside is very limited and most of the open space is used as a waiting area while your order is being prepared. There are fewer flavor options than you'll find at some ice cream shops but they are thoughtfully curated and paired with toppings that accentuate the ice cream. You can opt to have the ice cream served in a cup or in a Bubblecone, which is very similar in texture to a Belgian waffle. My two top flavors are the S'mores Campfire, topped with toasted marshmallow cream and graham cracker crumbs, and the Blue Cookie Butter topped with speculoos crumbs. The chocolate ice cream in the S'mores Campfire is rich with a deep cocoa presence - perfect for any chocolate lover. The speculoos ice cream in the Blue Cookie Butter encompasses the flavor or speculoos (some might know this as a Biscoff cookie) marrying together cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom with a buttery cookie base. Unfortunately most times I visit they seem to run out of a flavor or topping (this visit they didn't have any marshmallow topping). Milk Craft is specialty nitrogen ice cream, this makes it extra creamy. If you go to this location in the summer, you'll see the line is forever long to just get inside, the seating inside, however is very limited. The vibe inside is quirky, with a really fun chalk work wall and a few nice seating options, and good music. My favorite is to sit at the bar, this is only available to two guests. Getting seating inside during peak season is very unlikely. This place is always filled with teenagers, it's their go to ice cream. They only have a handful of flavors, their most popular is The blue butter cookie, I've had this one before, there is no need for it to be this obnoxious blue, but that's what they do. It's already mixed, it has to stay blue. This is very, very sweet, you can feel the sugar crunch in your teeth, if it was 10 notches less sweet, I'd probably like it better. Their waffle cones are also very popular, they make them as you order. I haven't had one, as they seem very large. The most recent flavor I got is the Sea Salted Caramel. I really enjoyed this one, it was sweet with a little kick of salty, and the dreamiest texture of creamy. It was topped with kettle corn and caramel sauce. This ice cream is very rich, I would never get more then one scoop. I wish they would offer an option smaller then a scoop, maybe a kids scoop. If you're sharing, then it's ok, I usually struggle to finish my one scoop. My friend that I was with got red velvet, and this is a nice option too, a tiny bit less creamy then the one I got, not overly sweet and still pretty original. This place offers unique ice cream, I can see it not being everyone's first choice. I enjoy going here occasionally and trying a new flavor. I was there last night ready to order with no one behind me. The main cashier with a pixie cut was rude and snarky when it came to my husband deciding (first timer).
