Best Ice cream for the area, and lots of treats to show off on social media. Not the best ice cream in the state. Went to this ice cream stop out of the blue. Didn't know what to expect, but had to drive a bit out of the way to get here. The location is very well designed, one entry, one exit, which takes you to a nice open dining area. The store is small, there's a couple seats inside but not much. The servers were young and new, but they were able to scoop ice cream. We got the ice cream flight, 5 small scoops of ice cream to try. Small scoops is a relative term, because even their single scoop was mounded into its container. We got the ghram slam, chocolate Caramel cookie dough (that's one flavor), the blue monster, key lime and strawberry cheesecake. The ice cream base was good. Was very sweet and a little whipped. Wasn't as rich as other ice creams I have tried. There was plenty of flavor coming from each one, each tiny scoop had lots of cookie or candy bits in them. Price was good, staff was nice, and it has a wow factor with pretty plates and giant shakes. The ice cream is good, but there are places around that are a higher quality and have that more dense, decadent ice cream that I like. Also the base is just a tad too sweet. In a small farm town.. You will find one the cutest ice cream places around. They have a very instagram friendly environment, with cute lights and ice cream /cow theme decor. They have many flavors to choose from, local made ice cream. They now include vegan vanilla ice cream. Which is great if you are dairy free. They have those milkshakes similar to the sugar factory. Super fun themes. Like mermaid thyme. Handmade whipped cream made in store. They sell chocolate bombs to bath bombs. My son order a banana split and I kept it simple with a 2 scoop cotton candy. Extremely cute ice cream shop that gets their delicious ice cream from Maple Valley in MA. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and they have a lot of yard games outside for families to play as well. Unfortunately they do not have a ton of flavors, but their selection is decent. The milkshake is probably $0.75-$1.00 more than I would expect for their size. Our ~$11 for a milkshake and a kid cone seems steep. All that said, the fun options they have for cone, sundaes, etc. puts them in a different league than many other places. Ice Cream: They have a bunch of flavors, including the traditional ones and some fun ones, make floats, milkshakes (including custom ones from any of their flavors, malted and specialty ones. Plenty of sundae options as well. Can't wait to try more. The almond joy and pistachio ice cream were delicious. Area: A ton of parking in front, even more parking in back in the Town Hall parking lot, fun outdoor space with games and tables, and a nice center of town where you can stroll over to the gazebo or just wander the sidewalks for a bit and lie to yourself that you'll burn off the ice cream, like we did. I was so excited to go get ice cream. Very few places in the Tolland area offer more than just dairy free vanilla. I checked the website and The Scoop Ice Cream Cafe advertised that they offered SEVEN dairy free flavors. I get to the cafe and ask what they had available for dairy free that day because the website also said that the flavors available change. Much to my surprise, they didn't have a single allergy friendly option available. If you advertise that you have dairy free options, you need to at least have one of those options out for those who need it. However, the staff was very kind about it. They took a look before confirming that they hadn't put any options out. Due to the kindness of the staff and the unfortunate false advertising, I am giving the shop a 2/5. read more

We wanted to try this, and had an errand somewhat nearby, so we planned the whole day to be able to eat here when they opened at noon. We had to kill some time to do so, but it sounded like it'd be worth it. All three places we checked online said they'd open at noon PERIOD. The weather turned out worse than forecast, so we walked from the truck to the business in torrential rain and thunderstorms. We were greeted by a sandwich board stating that they open at noon when it's -sunny- and at 2 when it's cloudy/gray?!! Seriously?? It's not an ice cream window but an indoor business, and most importantly, there is ZERO mention of this unusual policy anywhere online. We couldn't blow two more hours, so ended up with no food plan 90 minutes from home. I had vetted this place thoroughly, so that should never have happened. Consistency in your posted hours is key! We really needed to know that they were weather dependent. Don't screw your potential customers. This was supposed to be the nigh point of our day and left us stranded instead. read more

My family found this ice cream shop a couple years back and it has been a sweet treat we visit every once in a while. The ice cream is good, and the shop always new flavors. The service is good the people are very friendly and are quick workers. The shop is pretty small itself but outside it has fun games for the entire family. This was an outstanding experience. My family and I were on the hunt for a new ice cream establishment. I went to Yelp to find somewhere highly rated and highly local. What a pleasure the experience was. They have tricked out the place to not look like a strip mall. Someone has a keen eye in interior decorating design. The ice cream is made by SoCo of Great Barrington, MA. The hook with this ice cream is that is made with hormone-free milk. There is no corn syrup, artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols - only pure, non-GMO cane sugar. That speaks to me. You can go outside and play some of the games like corn hole. Clearly the owner is looking to create an experience, not just serve ice cream. I really love this place and the night I went, business appeared very good. The two people working the counter moved us through and provided a wonderful customer experience. I can't recommend this place enough. I saw this fun shake pictures and set out to give it a shot. I was surprised to find this place in a very quiet neighborhood. I went for the chocolate fun shake. It was overwhelming for a single person to have all that chocolate in a single sitting. I had a tough time sleeping in the night after that. Facebook picture showed Hershey's chocolate stuck to the sides. But my shake had a different chocolate. Even the thought of finishing all that brownie and chocolate is overwhelming. I did not notice the difference in the chocolate until I looked at the picture after coming home. The chocolate ice cream shake part of it was alright. At around $12, it was not cheap. They have many interesting flavors of ice cream. I tasted mission fig. It was good. Next time I go, I am going to try other flavors. Overall I feel this place is going to succeed. I understand it is local ice cream and they are still relatively new but $13 per visit when it's just two people makes for limited visits. On to the good stuff, the quality of the ice cream is amazing the fun shakes are exciting and the staff is friendly. I don't care for the way they dip the ice cream into the sprinkles as it causes cross contamination for allergy sufferers but they will get fresh sprinkles from the jar if you ask. The shop it's self is well lit and decor is adorable. I love the games on the table and on the patio. They have live music Saturday night in the summer and a rotating selection of flavors so you'll never get bored. Then a friend told my husband, who is an ice cream freak, that it was "the best," and so we had to go. And this is my new favorite place!! First, it's adorable! There's a cute little cafe, not a boring old store front. There are cute little tables and then there's a comfy sitting area next to a fake fireplace. Then there's the seating outside! And games like cornhole for anyone to play! And cool music! Then there's the ice cream, which was fabulous. I had a pumpkin spice one, and my husband had Maple Almond Brittle. Both were to die for! Small town ice cream parlor with a big presence! I had heard about Scoops from others and finally decided to give it a try. I met a couple of friends there not long ago. I was not disappointed. Well actually, they were out of my favorite flavor, butter crunch, so that was a little disappointing. But the chocolate raspberry was outstanding. Very cute interior, friendly high school servers and plentiful seating outdoors, made this the perfect place to be on a hot day. With this pandemic, it's not easy to find a place that satisfies on all levels. There is also a little toy area for little kids. And the bathroom is open to the public! Love the all natural, non-GMO ice cream! So many flavors to choose from! There were about 24 flavors the day we were there. We sampled fig and spicy chocolate, and order a two scoop of mango and raspberry sorbets, and a banana chocolate brownie scoop, and a blueberry honey vanilla scoop, and I got a chai masala mini moo (ice cream sandwiches between 2 chocolate chip cookies)! You can also have the ice cream sandwich rolled in toppings, and they also make sundaes. The flavors change so you never know what to expect, don't get upset if a favorite isn't available, there are so many great flavors to choose from! The coffee is excellent, they get it from Kevin's Coffee and it was perfect with the ice cream. There are a lot of options in the area, but this place has a lot to offer in a convenient location. Wow!! I am a huge foodie and I love ice cream ! Most importantly nothing impresses me more than thinking outside of the box and being creative with flavors . I drove from Berlin and told my self "this better be worth the drive ". The first flavor I tried was an ice cream with lavender ......OH MY!! You can actually taste the lavender and it was amazing !!!! Next I moved to the lemon poppy ..... OMG ... this bite was so refreshing I couldn't resist but to get a scoop of this flavor . Now my MOST favorite was the ginger rum!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS ... this ice cream was to die for!!!! I have never heard of ginger in ice cream .... I was hesitant to try it however the burst of flavor was amazing . Needless to say I am now obsessed with ginger in ice cream . Only issue is , no ice cream parlor has that delicious flavor near my home. I highly recommend this ice cream place and needless to say it was worth the 35 min drive !! read more

We spend every summer looking for the best ice cream, and this place is it. No question about it, and there isn't a close 2nd place contender. It passed by Main St Creamery (Wethersfield) in my opinion, which is a huge compliment, as that place is great too. Ben and Jerry's, Grassroots, all the West Hartford places aren't close. The ice cream is SO creamy and flavorful, and the different shakes, creative flavors (including with the waffle cones) are just fantastic. The staff is strong, and the environment on the back patio (sometimes which has music) is so relaxing. This place is the BEST in CT out of a large chunk of the places we have been to (although we haven't tried Fairfield or several shoreline places), and I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. Keep up the good work and please, keep the blueberry honey lavender flavor as long as possible! read more

I found this place here in Yelp. My wife and I made the 50 mile ride to The Scoop and we weren't disappointed. We sampled 10 or so homemade flavors and settled on Dirty Chocolate with Ginger Rum and Peanut Butter... OMG!!! In 62 years, never had ice cream this good!! The ice cream is absolutely delicious. The scoop sizes are very generous, and the flavors are unique and fun. The cafe set up is very inviting and fun. My friend and I were able to spend significant time together catching up without feeling any pressure to leave at all. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is the wait. There was only one person working, and the group ahead of us ordered two "fun shakes" which took an extremely long amount of time for her to make. Going downhill - really loved this place when it first opened. Ice cream is good, but I feel like in general the place is dirty and unkept, particularly during a viral pandemic. Tables were filthy. Owner came out after seeing me with two young children and assured us that the tables were sanitized between each guest, however upon wiping with a baby wipe I can tell you that is far from the case. The baby wipe was covered in filth. (And the tables were sticky in general). Really NOT ok. Outside area is full of weeds and dirt and long abandoned garden areas. read more
