I ordered and paid for two pies for Thanksgiving a week early. I went to pick them up and they said they ran out of pies. This is not acceptable. I was in charge of pies for dessert and the manager, Ethan, didn't have enough guts to stay around and tell a huge line of people picking up their pre ordered pies that they didn't make enough. He left two young boys to have to deal with angry customers. A refund isn't good enough. I will never go there again and I hope the manager gets fired. read more

Alright it started off with a bad day. I came home from school all sad about how absolutely horrible my day had been. I thought you know what would make this better, cheesecake! I decided i should try to make it but that is to much effort so i thought kneaders is good i'll go get some from there. I did my research before i had departed and looked up and even called if they had cheesecake. When I called they said they had two different kinda of cheesecake, so i was pumped. About 30 minutes later i arrived at my local kneaders only to find THEY DIDNT HAVE ANYMORE CHEESCAKE! To my absolute devastation i had to go to SMITHS MARKET PLACE.....FOR CHEESECAKE. My husband and I wanted to try a new (to us) lunch place. We've been told how great Kneaders is. We ordered 2 sandwiches: Tuna on wholenut & Chicken, cheese and ham. Also ordered a turkey bacon avocado salad for us to share. We asked if we could get the salad in a small size. It's not an option, which should be an option honestly. We used the drive through. Got home and noticed they gave us the turkey bacon avocado sandwich not the salad. Kinda of a bummer but we aren't gonna cry about it. Guys! The chicken, cheese and ham sandwich was amazeballs soo good! It's a warm sandwich so the cheese was melted. The tuna was good too. Very crisp and refreshing flavor. Three Stars, but still worth a trip for lunch. Stopped in this last week with a friend, for a quick business lunch. Kneaders always has an amazing assortment of baked good and rotating soups. My friend and I both went with the Tuna Salad Sandwich on Hazelnut Bread. I added a side of Broccoli and Cheese Soup. Everything was fresh and had a good flavor. Here is the reason for my 3 review. Disappointedly, I am not sure they could have succeeded in using less tuna salad on the sandwich. I kid you not, it was like they placed the tuna salad on the bread and then scraped it back off, so you were given the flavor, but not the goods. If it was just one sandwich, I would suggest it was just a miss, but both sandwiches had the same issue on skimping with the tuna... is this by design to cut costs? (By the way... their hazelnut break is fantastic.) I bet it's even better, if you have tuna salad on it. (Sorry... had to make another wise crack, to lighten the mood) both my friend and I couldn't help but laugh. Talk about portion control and amazing profitability. Anyway, the soup was good. I always enjoy Kneaders and will likely return. My only ask of this location would be to step up your game and provide a fair portion for the price. $25 dollars for two combo meals, deserves a little more attention then what you provided during this visit. Ok guys what is going on. First off I love kneaders! However this is the worst trip I've had here. I pulled in the drive thru and order 2-broccoli cheddar soup, 1 turkey bacon avocado sandwich (out of turkey) so I order a French dip, a smoothie (out of fruit. In summer! I'm going to take a guess and say they don't want to clean up after a smoothie but either way bad), coconut cream pie (out). Get to the window and they're out of cheddar broccoli soup. Umm what? I just wanted to start by saying I am a frequent customer. I love the food, pastries, bread, etc. I usually go through the drive thru due to the cashier at this location. Today I went inside and the cashier was absolutely rude. This is not the first time but today I had enough. Not only did she get my order wrong but was also rude when I was using my rewards points. Yesterday I got a cranberry turkey croissant and was disappointed. The croissant was hard and stale. Then I got a peanut butter chocolate cupcake that tasted like it sat in the fridge way too long, very stale. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Ordered online. Order was to be ready at 5:48 p.m. Order was not ready till 6:06. Got home and we got small soups and we ordered and paid for quarts size. We ordered and paid for a loaf of bread but did not get it. Called and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. Drive back 10 minutes and waited 5 minutes for them to get it going. While waiting I also asked for two lemonade and was honestly surprised they charged me for the self-serve drinks since I had to drive back, wait, and drive back home, like 25-30 minutes out of my evening after having driven there once already (40 minutes). I understand being short staffed, but come on, read the printed order and put it in the bag. And don't say it will be ready in 10 minutes if it will really be 30 minutes. BTW, the food pretty good, not bad. I'm starting to realize that customer service is sub par everywhere. First off, food was fine. It's always consistent. This is about customer service. The cashier was behind the pastry counter when we walked in and rudely said that "we would need to wait a minute". I don't care about waiting, it's tone and attitude. She was rude taking our order and was impatient with me trying to pull up my account and said "it's fine because there's no one else in line" again, with attitude. THEN she came out with the vacuum and began vacuuming WHILE we are eating. Who wants to hear that or smell vacuum smell? It doesn't stop there though. She comes to our table and vacuums under the table and hits my feet with the vacuum. Do you think she said excuse me before she started? No. Do you think she said sorry when she hit my feet? Nope. I visited the drive thru at this location. I had to wait 15 mins at the window for my food. My baby was screaming and all we ordered was soup and rolls. Nothing that needed to be prepared. I asked the worker if our food was almost ready and she replied that she was on her own so it was taking awhile. However, I could see other employees just standing around and talking or wiping counters. It was a miserable experience and then the soup wasn't sealed all the way and leaked all over my car. My two year old and myself went to Kneaders for a little lunch date today. I got the bbq chicken salad and I got him the chicken tortilla soup and they were both really yummy. The portions are large and definitely enough for two meals for me. I also had to get the chunky cinnamon bread. I'm so excited to make French toast out of it. Kneaders is the first place in ate at in Utah. The French toast was delicious and I was so thrilled to discover I could have as much as I wanted! I've been certain times when the quality of certain baked goods (including the french toast) was not up to their usual standard. The food is very inconsistent, and it's hard to give a glowing review knowing that it may not be great tomorrow. The atmosphere is very cozy and looks very much like a real, small bakery. Until you get to the service counter. The staff tends to make it feel very much like a fast food experience then. They're friendly, they just always make me feel rushed. Even when there is no line. I would have given Kneaders a higher ranking if they were more consistent. I like knowing whether or not my food is going to be good when I walk into an establishment I've been to previously. Used to love going to Kneaders but we WILL NEVER RETURN. There is plenty of selection in Layton. What's the reason you ask? Rude service. We ordered some food that was priced one way on the menu above the manager (who was taking our order) and rang up $1.50 more on the register (for soup). When I brought this up he stoically told me there is a notice in small print on the bottom of the menu board that says "Price may change at any time without notice." So, in keeping with their policy, he didn't bother to tell us that the price was different and that they hadn't received new menu boards yet. I personally think that this is a poor customer service. Clearly they don't care that I feel ripped off for not being told the price was different so I can change my mind on what I'm ordering. Not even an offer to refund the difference (since they don't have to with their little notice). Well, this only means that I will never be able to trust the price they've posted. Therefore I will NEVER BE ABLE TO TRUST KNEADERS. That's why I'm not going back ever. Maybe this sounds asinine to you but it seems like a blatant disregard for the customer and I don't like being treated like an idiot for asking. Hell, put a piece of paper over the old price with the new price on it until the new menu board comes in, would that be too difficult? read more

We have liked Kneaders, but wont be going back soon. So, we started off by waiting for our food for a while. 2 breakfast sandwiches ordered. One with cheese, ham and bacon on sourdough and the other ham and cheese on multigrain. They got the sandwiches wrong. They put the ham and cheese on sourdough and the ham and cheese with bacon on multigrain. That was wrong and backwards. We let them know how it was wrong and asked them to fix it. Their idea of fixing it was simply swapping the bread from the sandwiches!!! Whaaaaat? At this point we just asked for a refund. The girl asked us if we would like them to redo the sandwiches. Seriously? And run the risk of waiting even longer, likely not getting correct food, with additional possibility of spit as an ingredient? Isnt remaking it what they should have done in the first place? Instead they tried to send us with Luke warm sandwiches with remnants of each others sandwich on there? Thank you, but no. My office just moved pretty close to Kneaders so I've gone there a couple times for lunch over the last month and I'm addicted now. I haven't tried any of the pastries or desserts. They look delish but that's not what I'm after for lunch. I've had the soup, sandwich combo with a turkey sandwich and cream of broccoli soup. The turkey sandwich is freakin amazing!!! Thick pieces of turkey straight off the breast. Just like I make for myself at Thanksgiving! Such a nice surprise when I expected deli sliced turkey which is ok but just not as good. The cream of broccoli is also really good. Thick, creamy and really tasty. Maybe next time I'll try a different soup but I think I'll be sticking with that turkey sandwich for awhile. read more

We are supposed to change out Paninis and bacon every four hours, but nobody told us anything so we had them ALL day (which I didn't know until now). I've had good French toast here, and I've had awful French toast here. This morning, it was good, so I'm giving them a favorable review. It seems that whenever the French toast is cooked to order, it's heaven on a plate. It's like a cinnamon roll, done up as French toast. The cinnamon swirl is caramelized, the fresh strawberries are a fantastic touch. Yum. However, I've also had the French toast that has been under the food warmer too long, and it was no good. The saving grace for kneaders is that you can't go wrong ordering anything from their pastry case. They always have whimsical sugar cookies available that are reasonably priced, and tasty. In particular, I'm a fan of their bread-puddings. Raspberry is my favorite. The service has always been quick, for me. And their utensil/drink station is well-stocked. I want to like Kneaders much more than I do. I first had them when my parents had them cater my little sisters wedding. They thought they'd be those little rolls with meat and cheese, but they were big, tasty filling sandwiches with several toppings. So after that, of course, I had to try more. Well... I like the desserts. They run around $2 each with the exception of their cake and pie slices. The eclairs are usually good, the key lime tart is divine, the lemon raspberry cupcake is delicious, but my favorite is the chocolate dome. Chocolate upon chocolate. Their paninis were a huge letdown. For the additional cost over their cold sandwiches, you'd think you'd be able to customize them to your preference, but no. They make them every morning and then store them until someone comes along to order them as is. So by the time it's actually eaten there are soggy slimy bits from sitting for several hours. Tried one once, don't need to try anymore. Yuck. The soup is decent, nothing outstanding. The French toast is alright, but really sweet. I like the cinnamon roll bread occasionally, though they really need to rethink packaging. By the time you get the plastic bag off of the loaf, all the yummy sugary glaze has been pulled off and now sticks to the inside of the bag. It's best a day or two old and warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds. I don't like it fresh the day of. Seems really dry. If you want a decently priced treat to satisfy your sweet tooth, go for it. If you want a nice sandwich and soup there are much better options than Kneaders read more

One of the places I always recommend tourists, visitors or people who just moved here. We are a military family so we move a lot, this time we came from the south so I had never even heard of this place until we got here and decided to try it on a whim. If you are a fan of panera bread, or similar deli-type restaurants like McAllister's you should absolutely try this place out. It has homemade soup and bread which make even the simplest of sandwiches taste incredible, however their sandwiches are far from simple - they are usually a 4-5 inches thick with all the toppings that are all fresh vegetables, hand carved meats and specialty sauces and cheeses. But to me the most impressive item they have are their salads. This place easily has the best and most well put together and loaded salads of any other restaurant- bar none. Even just holding the box and feeling how heavy it is shows that you are getting your moneys worth, the only place that actually puts a giant chicken breast is grilled chicken salads, homemade salad dressings, any topping imaginable and creative specialty salads. Getting a half size is a must for me personally, I got a full size one time and it had to be a pound of food. So my advice is to either get a side salad with soup or a sandwich or try a half before a full, you won't even believe it's not a full meal because it's so huge. They are a tad bit pricey if you don't order using combo deals or get smaller portions - which are already huge. But they have a lot of deals where you have a lot of half options for almost everything (half sandwiches, soup cup instead of a full bowl, side and half salads) but once you learn how to order and remember less is more the price is a lot more reasonable and either way you certainly get your money's worth. The atmosphere is what drew me here and keeps me here for the most part. There is a dessert and bakery in store where you can purchase loaves of bread, or any dessert imaginable. This makes the place always smell like nutmeg and vanilla. All the furniture, artwork, and general design or aesthetic is cozy and beautiful - even the desserts on display are gorgeous and so pretty you don't want to eat them for fear of messing them up! They have a giant fireplace in the middle of the store which makes you feel right at home. There are cute boutique type items for like Christmas ornaments and little home decor trinkets for sale as well as the baked goods so there is always something super cute there to buy outside of food alone. They also have a drive thru which is incredible given the fact that this place falls far from the category one would typically associate drive thrus with and they certainly aren't fast food. They also take orders for specialty items like birthday cakes and cater as well. All in all this place is excellent and in this instance you SHOULD believe the hype, they deserve all the recognition in the world and aren't overhyped like some deli chains or bakery's. Anytime a new family moves in here on hill Air Force base and ask for food recommendations I always tell them about Kneaders. When my parents and sister come and visit me from NC I always take them here and they love it. read more
