I went with the egg and cheese on a butter croissant. It was definitely on the greasy side but that's to be expected with a croissant. We shared a sweet roll, which was pretty good but the real win for me was the free samples. They were handing out bites of their baked goods - pumpkin chocolate chip, a white chocolate cookie of some sort and a mystery muffin - and I snagged a few for us. Does this look like a $12 club sandwich to anyone??? Quality is definitely slipping. It's supposed to at least have meat on it. Last time, I ordered a crack chicken sandwich. Not only wasn't it crack chicken with that wonderful creamy sauce, it was Turkey - with no sauce on it. Not even mayo. And it was on plain bread. I showed it to the girl at the counter, who took it in the back to show someone and came back and said, " Yes, that's crack chicken." When I pointed out it was, in fact, TURKEY, she turned to help another customer and ignored me. So, not only is quality slipping, but so is the service. I'll admit, I was hesitant at first. The windows were a little dirty, there wasn't a single car in the parking lot, and the "Open" light wasn't even on. I had to read the door sign and cross my fingers before going in. Glad I did. The moment I walked inside, bam--the smell of fresh bread hit me. You could see it being made right behind the counter, with bakers hard at work in the back. Super legit. We ordered their croissant breakfast sandwiches (ham, bacon, sausage, egg & cheese), one of each so we could try them all. Also grabbed a strawberry smoothie and a cinnamon roll to go. The gentleman at the front counter was polite--not super talkative, but helpful and got our order in smoothly. No suggestions or "first time here?" kind of convo, but to be fair, it was early and he might've been just waking up too. Now the food? Phenomenal. I had the ham, egg & cheese croissant--flaky, buttery, flavorful, everything you want in a breakfast sandwich. My kids had the bacon and sausage versions, and they devoured them. The smoothie was good, too. Only downside? No fresh orange juice, which was one of the reasons I'd chosen the place in the first place. But honestly, the food made up for it. I've lived in SLC 5yrs and now i'm in Davis County. I've always loved Kneaders, I'm kinda disappointed about my cake. I bought the smallest raspberry white cake $35.99, luckily I had so much Kneaders points to pay for it. It was cute looking cake, lopsided on one part, but it looked decent enough. I cut into it and it was basically falling apart. The sponge was tasty but crumbly, the raspberry cheesecake filling was lacking in cheesecake, and the icing was WOW soooo much! The cake was essentially icing w a bit on sponge on the side. I did order the cake on a Tues night (via app) and it was ready by 4pm Thursday, so I do appreciate that they made it. I don't recommend buying cakes here though, French toast, soup and breads, YESS! Say no to cakes here. read more

We are from out of town and wanted some food. We saw that this place had two stars but it appears to be the drive through. Ambience was cute setup like a Panera in a lot of ways. I ordered the pesto chicken panini with no onions (onions make me sick). and my wife ordered the turkey cranberry croissant. The turkey cranberry looked good and my wife said it was not bad. However mine was a different story. There was hardly any turkey at all maybe 1oz in the entire sandwich and zero flavor of pesto. I opened it and found no pesto to speak of and onions throughout the melted cheese. There were a few pieces of spinach from who knows where. My only conclusion is they accidentally put onions and instead of remaking it they tried to pick out the onions and send up a nasty half way done sandwich. All in all I gave two stars for my wife's sandwich. I certainly will not be returning to this place. You have to try really hard to be worse than Subway. My review is strictly of my dining experience and for their drive-thru. I love going to Kneaders for lunch. The lines never take too long and my food always comes fast. I love that you can sample their bread and the array of desserts are always tempting! The food is good, my only wish is that they offered a half sandwich/ half salad like zupas does! You have to order them separate and it can get a little expensive. The restaurant is always clean, or they clean up pretty fast. There is a lot of seating which is nice. I never have to sit close to another party. The parking can be a little tight, depending on the time of day. The drive-thru can be a little long, but It doesn't stress me out too bad. Like many places these days they were out of some things but they had plenty of options instead. We sat outside for breakfast, with four adults and one dog. My wife and I had steel cut oatmeal with a wide variety of topping choices. I had coconut and blueberries. We also had a fruit and yogurt parfait and split a pastry. The pastry was a little dry and not enough filling and not what we ordered but we rolled with it because it was still good. I also had a mango and fresh orange smoothie my wife had the fresh squeezed OJ. We were with another couple who happen to be one of my daughters and her husband. They come here often. I learned a trick recently from a friend who is a Kneaders frequent flier: stop by late on Saturday an hour or so before they close. You can get pastries for a discount since they are closed Sundays and don't want to throw out food. But you can't be too picky about what items you want, you sort of have to take what you can get at that point. This is exactly what we did recently and enjoyed a plethora of pasties, loaves of bread and treats. Even though it was close to closing time, everything still tasted fresh. The employees were friendly and were happy to help us out through the drive through. If you are going to do this, may I suggest that you don't order any items that have to be made fresh (smoothies, etc.). I'm sure they are willing to do it, but I just think that's mean. Kneaders is a great little place with tasty sandwiches, soups and amazing desserts that will knock your socks off! They also have a small homegoods shop at most locations that sell candles, kitchen items, etc. We stopped by this location in Layton, UT. recently to enjoy some decadent desserts after a Birthday celebration. We all shared and started with one of their amazing Eclairs. Delicious, chocolately top with a creamy custard center. And the center is FULL, unlike some other eclairs you get that are mostly air inside and a small amount of custard. Next we had their peanut butter cupcake which is a moist chocolate cupcake with a creamy peanut butter center, chocolate whipped-cream frosting and reeeses peanut butter cups crumbled on top. We also tried some of their cookies and tarts which were all delicious. We have also been here for food. Salads, soups and sandwiches. Their food menu is all good and everything tastes great, but the odd thing is that nothing really jumps out at us on their menu. That's not to say anything isn't good, it's just very generic. When thinking about lunch, we usually skip Kneaders for something with a more exciting menu. Overall, a great place for amazing desserts, but it doesn't really stand out for lunch/dinner menu for us. I waited in the drive through so long yesterday that the service worker apologized 2-3 times when I finally got to the window, but I told him that it was okay. But it was not okay! I have been here a few times in the last few years. It used to be great food. The last three times the amount of ingredients in the sandwiches is ridiculous. Today I ordered a pesto chicken Sandwich and there was 3 pieces of chicken that were about the size of a quarter! $14 for a sandwich chips and a drink. They have an awesome military discount and their bread is always so fantastic like it was just made the soup that I got was also very good and had a very good creamy Base. Kneaders has it figured out. On-site bakeries make for killer sandwiches, and I really dig the cottage chique decor. There are plenty of crafty little nick nacks for sale. It amazes me how my wife "JUST HAS" to buy something that she only knew existed 5 minutes earlier. LOL I call Kneaders sandwiches "hippie sandwiches." My wife is quick to correct me that they are healthy sandwiches. Agree to disagree. However, we do agree that they are awesome sandwiches, especially the turkey! Kneader's sells whole pies! We had one of my resident influencers jonesing for pie so I went looking. Village Inn in Bountiful is closed permanently but right across the street was a Kneaders so I decided to gave it a try. Only whole pie they had was coconut cream. Took it home to the masses and although I did not get the hero's welcome initially (cause coco cream is not usually a top choice) the ensuing response was very positive. The coco cream is "not too sweet" and I guess that is a good thing. Anyway, we've been back to Kneaders a couple more times in the past little while (most recently the Layton "restaurant-row" location) and all good. Tried a cherry pie today that did not garner a high recommendation (not tart enough) but it is truly written you cannot win them all. read more
