I love the Motor City Hoodoo candles. They are incredibly luscious and are powerful. I bought Miss Cleo Mae today...the Goddess Bitch candle. I also purchased the Goddess Lakshmi oil. Everything is reasonable priced. The staff is more than equipped to handle any questions; it's a pleasure talking with people who are into what you're into. The shop carries a great welcoming and comforting energy. Classes and gatherings are offered, such as meditation circles. Parking: paid on the street or parking lots.

I went out of my way to purchase vigil candles from this store. The candles wouldn't burn because…read moreof their metal wicks (a sign of an extremely low quality candle). When I requested a refund they said because the product had been used they couldn't accept (of course they've been used, I attempted to burn the candles, which ultimately wouldn't burn). Also said they 'couldn't guarantee the quality' because they didn't manufacture them. Do not sell product you can't stand behind! I was shocked and disappointed by the terrible customer service here. Wouldn't recommend. I will continue supporting The Boston Tea Room where they run an exceptional business and treat customers with respect!

The video surveillance should have also captured the moment I was bear hugged, dragged through a dark hallway, and eventually thrown into a white sign outside. I received bruises and luckily nothing major happened like landing wrong on my head and getting a concussion and possible death (should I have had a bad landing after being tossed by this lady). As she grabbed me and before she threw me to the ground I pled with her that she did not need to do this, but she was very angry (probably because she was working on Halloween and saw me with 3 beautiful girls and she couldn't handle how well the costume looked on me - just speculating here.) I went to this place on Halloween 2025, by the time I was assaulted it was November 1st, 2025 because it was past midnight. I was with 3 other girls (I am a male). We waited in line to get in. I was dressed up as Spider-Man and the girl I was with was Catwoman. I am of Western European descent and maybe that was the issue, I was racially profiled by the woman hostess/bouncer because she was letting in the rest of the people except me and my crew. I proceeded to take my phone out and record her after the assault and take pictures of her so I could later report her. On top of that, there were gunshots nearby so I decided to uber home and report this later instead of right away with the owner. I am going to follow up with this place to make sure we can come to some understanding that assaulting customers is not ok and I will continue to spread the word about my experience if I am not adequately satisfied with their resolution (if there is one). Again, this place is bad news and you should stay away. I am willing to change this review if an apology and some sort of incentive is offered.

The backroom has an area with some seats and more books to peruse. The overall vibe is cozy and welcoming. The front of the shop was stocked well with lots of games to choose from. The middle room between the shop and music appears to be where people come to play games or tournaments. This is also where they have a bar. My biggest recommendation would be to either get a second bartender when hosting events or streamline service by cutting the craft cocktails from the menu. 20 to 30 minutes in line when the place is t packed is a trifle ridiculous.

(i sew a lot but am not big on crafting so some of it was out of my realm of understanding.) the ribbon, lace, or tulle by the yard was on the pricier side. they also have some random little toys that are like fifteen cents. and beads. there are so so many beads here, it made me wish i did bead crafts of some sort. also, they give you a little gift when they ring you up. i got a diy lace snowball ornament. it's hard to describe but you kind of feel like you tried to go back in time, but the machine took you just a bit too far. but the stuff is still relevant to your interests, but slightly off enough that you're not going to buy everything. just go check it out. it's a lot of fun and i'll definitely be back.
