I didn't think I would say this but the new Owner Mike is worst then the last owner Mike at least with the last owner you knew you were getting screwed now they try to talk to you like your stuff is just junk at the new store the New Manager treated me like crap last time I went. Offered me 25% for my rare items. Then Jeff this week offered me 150$ for 500$ worth of rare collectibles and this was the last insult. I won't be back to this store I advice everyone else who is trying to sell their collectibles not to attend this store anymore either. Don't waste your time. read more

Loved the new place, but that's also part of the problem. I was always greeted in the previous location promptly, and had at least two employees ask if I needed any assistance, even if I wasn't looking for anything. Coming into the new location, there were two employees at the front counter and I wasn't even acknowledged. Continued through the store and found a few $1,000+ pieces I was interested in. Unfortunately, no was around to assist except for the babysitter behind the counter watching a young child. I walked around for a good 20 minutes to hope that their new location wasn't a substitution for common sense and minimum customer service, but it did not come to pass. I'm not a Pokemon collector but my daughter in law is. We wanted to buy a Surging sparks booster box for her Christmas gift. TT had two but wouldn't sell them to me. They insisted I pick packs out of a box. I wasn't aware I was getting scammed until my DIL explained how they can pick the good packs out and sell the customers the junk. Out of 20 packs she opened she got nothing good. All commons. No good cards. It's an obvious scam. Shame on TT for doing this. I would not recommend this place for anything. read more

I love this place. The first time I stepped foot here in my college days it began my journey to collect video games. I always loved gaming throughout my childhood, but they gave me the ability to fully realize my hobby. They also have plenty of comic books, action figures, trading cards and pretty much anything a nerd/geek could want. Stopped in during covid, so my experience may be different than normal times. Very limited street parking, but a large connected parking lot of several city blocks long behind the banks of stores in this area. You enter through the rear of the store. Inside is a slightly dingy and dim huge room crowded with rows and rows of shelves and displays. They have a really huge array of comics and manga. Huge shelves and cases and tables of used comic and movie related toys. Of course we were wearing masks, but the counter guy was like a caricature of an awkward and slightly mean comic book store guy from tv/movies. They have a lot of comics. A lot. read more

Even have a spot in the back with tables to hang out, play cards, etc. I just heard of them a few days ago by the owner I think, he seems really nice and I'm glad he told me about his shop! I've been going to this comic store for roughly 30 years now, and it's always been great, but since the new ownership especially it's just gotten better. The same white tag deals on comics are amazing, and their constantly revolving selection of back issues is the best. I made a deck of edhcommander at like 7 am and sent it to them via Facebook messenger, they had every single card I was looking for (minus 1) ready for me by 1 o'clock and gave it to me for the same price I could have gotten it online maybe $20 more at the most but I would have ended up paying that in shipping and fees anyway. Great Store, Great Staff, Great Merchandise. I've been going to this location for over 25 years and I enjoy discussing comic books, comedies, movies as well as gaming techniques. I routinely tell the staff that I can beat them all, in any game ranging from Checkers to Dragon Balls, to Magic, to Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and even Tic-Tac-Toe if they pulled out some paper to play. The old owner was amazing. The new owner is a good person as well. The store has been renovated and you can see all the merchandise available. I often recommend friends, co-workers and family members to visit Time Travelers. My only issue is that the employees listed as Ross, Gabriel and Dan won't let me run around the store in my X-Men outfit challenging other customers in a duel to play warcraft when the store is closing. Just Kidding, All the staff are a bunch of Incredible and nice guys who are extremely knowledgeable about all types of comics, gaming products and collectable memorabilia. A solid comic / vintage toy shop. Buys/sells. Kinda dark inside, grouchy, sarcastic owner who has been there for a long time and knows a lot. Don't try to sell him anything unless you want to have some playful banter. Customer: "Hey mister how much will you give me for this used Halo 3 game?" Owner: "ohhhhhh nooooh ah..kid" (grimace as if in pain) you're trying to sell me that? oh ah...are you crazy? I could maybe give you (more pain) four... dollars for that! I'd have to go without food for a week and maybe lose my shop and be on the streets but if it will make you happy!" This is a true collector, yeah he may hold these treasures too dear but he has a very extensive collection of vintage toys and back issues. It's not the most organized shop but if you are willing to dig a little you can find deals on some very cool stuff there that he hasn't changed the price on (he can't find it) since 1982. Owner was rude. Was trying to haggle on a book. That is what you do at a shop, right? Was polite and simply thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially since I was buying other things, as was my buddy. In total we had about 200 dollars in merch. We have both bought from this store before. Many times. We both live an hour a way to come here. When I made my offer, I wasn't low balling, gave an ebay researched offer. I Was flat out told in a condescensing tone to not ask for a discount. I mean he could have at least just said no sorry couldn't do that, or he could have met me in the middle (difference of 5 bucks). Sorry, but there are other shops out there including online. I shouldnt have to drive an hour in the midst and risk of a pandemic to be made to feel like I did something wrong for making a humble offer. Won't be back. Shame. My husband goes all the time so I tagged along about a week ago and got a GREAT deal(1/2 off) clearance on a variety of trading cards as gifts. I took my 25 yo daughter there on June 19/2020 to buy a Father's Day gift. Yes, the collection was great and she picked out a number of things totaling about $70. I got four more packs of cards, Mike the owner charged full price $4(then walked away), instead of the clearance $2 and FAILED to give me a receipt. I didn't leave until another employee refunded my $2. Really, TWO LOUSY BUCKS, also the clearance items need to be more clearly marked. I expect the owner would know what's going on in their own store. I probably will NOT be back. My disposable income is such that I try to get the best price. Mike, if you put it on clearance then honor that price. read more

Time Travelers opens doors onto the mysterious world defined by allegiance to Marvel, DC, Image, or a speckling of indie publishers between. Thanks to the popularity of Marvel and DC, especially in their cinematic universes, comics have become more mainstream than ever and the paraphernalia featuring fan favourites and obscure characters alike commands a very pretty penny indeed. Beyond the chibi Funko Pops and Legends figurines, you can find omnibuses of popular comic series and individual pulls of the latest and greatest, issues from hard to find runs, and just about everything in between. Let's be clear right off the bat: this store is very hard to navigate if you do not know what you are looking for. The sheer amount of stock becomes overwhelming. Look up to the ceilings and down to the floor, every inch of open shelf space contains something -- loose figures, gaming supplies, branded toys, esoterica that may defy easy identification. If you know you need something in particular, ask right off at the counter and allow one of the experts on staff to help you find your purchase. Alternately, call ahead to have it waiting for you. Otherwise, you probably *will* be spending a while digging or aimlessly spelunking. The staff largely leaves you to your own devices unless specifically called upon, so expect to speak up. If you know your subject, they are definitely happy to shoot the breeze on that. Otherwise, browse as you will. Time Travelers could just as easily be called Time Sink, and I say that with some affection. Time really does fly while flicking through the annals of the comic collection for the one issue you need. As other reviewers note, the interior is old school with very narrow aisles and large boxes filled by all sorts of merchandise sorted by a rather unfathomable classification system. Digging through crates of used DVDs tends to give me the heebie-jeebies, so I tend to sight spot whatever I am looking for if necessary. Prices on recent comics are at cover value, and I found a pretty broad variation in the collectible merchandise. Some paralleled what I've seen in other comic stores, and the variation goes up from there. Rarely will you find anything priced below market value, especially for the likes of retro goods. I haven't ever bothered to sell collectibles here, nor am I ever likely to. I cannot speak to the experience. Nor have I been present during the haggling and negotiations around a collection. Rule of thumb, come in knowing what your stuff is worth on the market. Verdict: 2.5 stars read more

I don't live in Michigan anymore but always make an effort to stop here when I visit family. I hate seeing the negative reviews this place is getting. I never had an issue with employees and usually there is a guy there that is a book of knowledge with comic culture. Regarding other reviewers that are negative because they dont get top dollar for their items. People need to understand that selling your items to a reseller you will not get top dollar. The reseller needs to do just that, resell for profit... you know to continue being a business. Working as a retail manager for over a decade made me realize the ignorance of customers and how much it costs to run a small business. It will be a shame when places like this no longer exist because of online shopping. Keep this gem going and shop local. Going into this place will make any adult feel like a kid again. read more

I've lived in every region in the U.S. including metro NY, and Chicago. There is no other store in the U.S. that can compete w/this sheer abundance of stuff. Mike the owner is also a legendary metro area figure and should not have his reputation besmirched by some whiney twirps who needs to be treated like babies. I went in yesterday with my brother to look at the retro games selection while my brother perused comic books. I was particularly interested in scoring any variant of the Turbografx 16 and was encouraged when I saw they had complete in box versions of Keith Courage and Bonk's Adventure. Nobody came by to see if I had questions, not a so much as "I noticed you looking at the games. Let me know if there's anything I can help you find." I was also interested in possibly getting a Wii as they were relatively reasonable when I was in the store last year. Just no help and the owner was on the phone the entire time I was in the store while his staff were busy playing Magic The Gathering. The aisles are narrow and cluttered (huge boxes of DVDs, video games ,game accessories not even out and priced and labeled). There's no care taken of the retro gaming items despite the huge boom in this market and how many people are interested in these products. They could have probably sold me a $100 game console plus two games that were I think 50 bucks combined but lost a sale being oblivious. My brother bought $5 worth of comics. Focus on customer service and being an easily navigable and friendly store. There are competitors in this market and it'd honestly be simpler to look through a flea market or even online than how it's laid out here. read more

There are a lot of items crammed into this store, and it all seems like a bit of a jumble when you first walk in, but there is some basic organization to the large volume of things for sale here. The owner is a friendly, rotund, loquacious, somewhat unkempt middle-aged man that loves to talk about almost anything, but is pretty scattershot in his approach. He's self-deprecating in conversation in general, but when he's buying something from one of the many people that show up with a used videogame, or a collection of comics (or whatever) to sell, he is simultaneously self-deprecating, and, dismissively talking the would-be seller down on price. It's an unusual approach, but it seems to be effective from what I witnessed while I was there. He lowballs the sellers on price, while stating that he's not really sure he's very good at what he does for a living. It's an interesting strategy, a peculiar combination in terms of bargaining, and I was getting kind of a kick out of it while I was there. But, I was there to buy, not to sell. They have a lot (approximately 900, perhaps?) of DVDs/Blu-Rays for sale, and I was there in order to see if I could increase the size of my collection. Which I did, by another 11 DVDs. A positive experience overall, and I'll be back in the future. read more
