Naturally we looked for the closest Best Western so our furry friend could come in with us. We got our room, both took showers with the complimentary soap and shampoo that smelled great. The tissues were folded to look like a flower, which was neat... Complaint #1 - the tv in the room was either poorly wired or had bad reception. We turned on a movie to fall asleep to, and it kept cutting out the volume and picture... flashing and screaming static. So we turned it off. Complaint #2 - which is out of control of the hotel, but the guy above us must have been exercising all night with his dog. Well into 5am... rough. Breakfast was good, the usual... waffles, pastries, eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon... Check out was easy as well. If we are in the area, we would go back...

To make matters worse, we were met with resistance when we requested to change rooms. Finally, we were moved to the second floor and as we moved our belongings, we walked by two portable dehumidifiers in the hallway. The second room was better, but we were refused clean towels when requested. We used our room towels at the pool, and when we asked for clean, dry towels we were told they did not have any. Finally, we were given 2 (for 3 people) and a bath mat. Save your money. Unless you like the smell of mold, prefer unsanitary conditions, and enjoy wasting your money, DO NOT STAY HERE.

We absolutely love the downtown, and we have 2 favorite places to stay- the Candlewood and the other big hotel across the street. Each has it's own charm, but I personally prefer the Candlewood. The rooms are expansive and come with a kitchenette. The location here is key- this is right on the corner of 7th and Wabash. Downtown TH has some super fun bars and restaurants and they're all a hop from this place. The hotel is quiet, clean, and like I already mentioned, the rooms are huge. Every time I am here I sleep like a baby- the beds are so comfortable and the hotel is quiet. I love their workout room here too- it's got everything I need to have an excellent workout while I'm on the road. It's super clean and has a nice range of equipment. Overall this is an excellent hotel. Even after our son graduates next year, I can see my wife and I coming to Terre Haute to enjoy a few of the restaurants in town, and we will definitely stay at the Candlewood Suites again.

They handled it well and were apologetic when it wasn't their fault. Bed comfortability is what you would expect, there is a mini fridge in the room as well which nice. They don't seem to enforce the mask rule here with guests which has me concerned for how well the rooms and surfaces are being cleaned. The walls are paper thin, could hear the water very loud and clear when someone decided to take a shower after midnight. I'm used to places having fluffy pillows, not the case here, the pillows are very thin and flat and not comfortable. I recommend using three or just bringing your own.

And then ( I swear I'm not making this up) I'm in bed trying to sleep and 10pm some moron decides that's the best time to mow the field right out my room with a very loud mowing machine. Are you freaking kidding me? Mowing at that time of night? C'mon man! I really felt like telling the morning desk person (which would have been ok since it was another regular American person) but decided since they probably wouldn't have done anything about it anyway, I'll just Yelp about it. The only thing that might have given me pause had I been a lone woman traveling was all the tractor trailers. I personally only saw other families, but there was a woman in front of the hotel in the evening who spent a great deal of time holding a relatively loud conversation on her phone while we unloaded. ( things that make you go hmm, and why I might be hesitant to stay here as a lone woman ). We also had some furniture in the back of our truck and some boxes in the car and no one messed with anything in the excellently lit lot. I would stay here again given its convenience and value but not as a solo female traveler.

I had called the hotel a couple of times earlier in the week and Luke and Haley made sure I knew we were welcome to come in the night prior. After we got parked, we walked in to let them know we had arrived. Brooke and Luke were amazing and so accommodating. The next morning we walked in to find out about check in times. Once again, we were greeted warmly by Chrystal and Nicole. I genuinely felt like I was a priority. Nicole even invited us in to enjoy some breakfast. As we ate, we watched the front desk as they greeted everyone who walked in the door. I have never seen a Housekeeping Manager stand next to the front desk representative to ensure guests were getting everything they needed for their rooms. It was absolutely refreshing!

Newly renovated building to two full suites. We were traveling as a family, with a 4 yr old and grandparents, and it was everything we needed. The finishings were gorgeous and brand new. The space is huge. Pullout couch was comfortable. Full kitchen, stocked with plates, cups, dish towels, soap, sponges, drying rack meant we didn't have to dine out every meal. For a large group, the two interconnecting suites was great, the kid could wander around, we could have family over to visit in one living room while the kid napped in the other, etc. So happy to have found it.
