The fiance and I are driving down to Louisiana for Thanksgiving. After a 5 hour driving session through the rainy construction zones after a full day of work, we had enough. Naturally we looked for the closest Best Western so our furry friend could come in with us. We got our room, both took showers with the complimentary soap and shampoo that smelled great. The tissues were folded to look like a flower, which was neat... Complaint #1 - the tv in the room was either poorly wired or had bad reception. We turned on a movie to fall asleep to, and it kept cutting out the volume and picture... flashing and screaming static. So we turned it off. Complaint #2 - which is out of control of the hotel, but the guy above us must have been exercising all night with his dog. Well into 5am... rough. Breakfast was good, the usual... waffles, pastries, eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon... Check out was easy as well. If we are in the area, we would go back... read more

We stayed in a room on yhe third floor. The humidity was so high in the room that our pillows were wet! No adjustment on the air conditioner made a difference. To make matters worse, we were met with resistance when we requested to change rooms. Finally, we were moved to the second floor and as we moved our belongings, we walked by two portable dehumidifiers in the hallway. The second room was better, but we were refused clean towels when requested. We used our room towels at the pool, and when we asked for clean, dry towels we were told they did not have any. Finally, we were given 2 (for 3 people) and a bath mat. Save your money. Unless you like the smell of mold, prefer unsanitary conditions, and enjoy wasting your money, DO NOT STAY HERE. read more

Very nice hotel. This is my second stay, both times as a result of extended power outages. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, comfortable beds. The staff is friendly and accommodating. There are a couple of great restaurants in walking distance, plus some fast food joints. Very good complimentary breakfast. only complaints are the lack of an easy chair in the rooms and that the ice machines were taken out. The next time it takes Parke County REMC 3 days to clean up from a little thunderstorm, I'll probably stay here again. read more

Tried to give this place every opportunity, but it just is not good. First of all, it really is not close to restaurants... fast food, okay. Your options are pretty much Burger King, maybe Iron Skillet when it's open, and Subway was closed. It's a sad little highway stop without much going on. That said, it's hard to find pet friendly hotels (that allow more than service animals and don't have weight restrictions). Check-in was fine and we got into our room. The air to the room made a rattling noise and the WiFi worked nowhere on the property. I asked about this at the front desk and was told that they were renovating - not sure what that has to do with their wifi. Bed was comfortable, though I could hear a screaming baby through the walls at 1 AM (and after), so not a lot of sleep was gotten. I would steer clear of this one, particularly at the high price point it cost me. read more

Driving west on interstate 70 we decided to find a hotel room and 10 miles away was this place. I called while on the road and she said that there was a room available and it allowed for dogs and it was cheap! I was worried at what kind of room would be waiting for us but it was really, very nice! Everything was in order, actually better than I remember Best Western being: granite countertops, plush bedding, updated bathroom, modern and clean carpeting. Front desk personnel was friendly and efficient at check-in and check-out. read more

We love this hotel because they are SO dog friendly! We have stayed here twice on cross country road trips with our two huskies. Everyone who works here is SO nice and loves dogs. They always accommodate our very late night arrivals and put us in a dog friendly first floor room. The first time we stayed there they even gave us dog food and a dog bowl. The rooms are nice enough, just what we need, and there's always hot breakfast and 24 hour coffee. read more

The Best Western Plus Covered Bridge Inn is a terrific option for those looking for accommodations in Clay County, Indiana (Brazil, Clay City), an area that continues to have limited options other than a couple mom n' pop places that may give you a bed for the night but offer almost nothing in the way of actual comfort. This particular Best Western is a great option for someone wanting to be fairly close to Terre Haute but needing to be a little more budget aware, while the hotel is also close to area covered bridges and the popular Exotic Feline Rescue Center. As I was doing some wheeling for charity in Brazil the next day, this offered a convenient and comfortable option that didn't break the budget at $89.99 for a single King with disability accommodations. I will note that the room was a sponsored room for me - not by the hotel, but by a donor who had generously paid for the room. The Best Western is a three-story facility that looks as if it has undergone a recent upgrading with freshly painted hallways and a bright interior that that almost feels odd at what amounts to being a truck stop motel. I was located in a first floor room, I believe it was room 106, and it was one of two rooms specifically designated for persons who are "physically challenged." In this case, that means a walk-in shower with a bench. They do not have a room with a roll-in shower, so if you require that you should be fully aware. I had requested via their online reservation system an accessible room and specified that I actually am in a wheelchair and would be traveling alone - I usually throw in a crack like "So, unless you really want to give me a shower I suggest making sure the room is accessible." Technically, a walk-in shower doesn't work for me - I don't have feet and I don't walk. That said, this type of set-up is fairly common and many folks in wheelchairs can transfer just fine to a bench set-up. I'm not particularly good at that type of transfer, but I made do with it. I'd called them early in the afternoon when I realized my arrival would be later than planned to ensure they kept my room. It's an unadvertised secret that if you arrive later than you'd stated that sometimes that room will have been given away. While I find that practice irritating, I've learned it's in my best interests to simply stay in touch with the hotel and to let them know if my arrival time changes. Thus, my room as ordered was ready when I arrived three hours past my originally planned time. I found the staff here to be delightful. I'd just done the Terre Haute leg of a week-long fundraising tour and one of the staff happened to be a friend of my road support for the day. My guess is that my treatment was somewhat improved by having made the local news for my event, though I watched interactions with other customers and they were consistently friendly, outgoing and professional. The room, other than the walk-in rather than roll-in shower was delightful. It was comfortable with working, free wifi and what ended up being my most comfortable bed on this particular tour. I didn't have any issues with noisy rooms, though that may have been helped by the fact that I stayed on a Monday night. The morning breakfast is free and includes the usual hot/cold items. I found it to be one of the better free breakfasts I experienced on this trip. They offered a 32 inch HDTV, a microwave, a refrigerator and small business center that I did not use on this trip. Overall, this was probably my favorite hotel experience on this trip. The room felt safe and was very comfortable. The entire hotel was clean as was my room. The room was accessible, though a bit shy of the accessibility options that I needed. I slept well and enjoyed my stay. The breakfast went from 6am-10am - standard for this option and perfect for someone who was leaving fairly early the next morning. I would definitely stay again. read more

When I stayed here a few months ago: 1. Laundry and pool shut down. Couldn't wash clothes. 2. Previously a police hostage situation occurred two rooms over. Hallway was being "remodeled" as a result. 3. Maid service was substandard. Didn't replace toilet paper or bath mat. Skipped room on one occasion. 4. Tiny television screen. 32in. 5. First walking in the front desk staff didn't show up until a housekeeper called her. Then when she got up front she seemed annoyed we were there to check in. We got to our room I found stained sheets, stained towels, mold in the sink, and trash/dirt left behind. They didn't clean our room and gave us new towels on request only 3 hours after requesting them. read more

I had already passed Terre haute and did not want to turn around. I've stayed at BW before (Rutland, VT) and had a great experience - so I figured I would with this place as well. Was I wrong. The first room I was in there were weird stains on the top sheet, the tv wouldn't work so I called the front desk and was told to unplug the tv from the wall and plug it back in!!! So I got moved to the second floor and I can hear the guy next to me snoring logs and the other neighbors tv. After being on the road for 9 hours I can already tell I won't get any sleep here. We checked in very late on Monday morning 2:30 am edt. We were planning to check out by noon (requested late check out) but ended up taking 40 minutes longer to do so (our fault) as we woke up bit late. However, the incessant calling from the front desk (I believe her name is Steph) was irritating. When I came down to check out and expressed my annoyance, I was given a lecture by Terry about proper exit procedure by guests. Within the past 10 days we had stayed at 8 different hotels (4 different best westerns), this was the first time I had such a bad manners from the staffs. I understand that the job can be difficult but staffs need to exercise caution and employ flexibility to ensure that guests do not have a horrible exit experience. read more

The hotel is off of I-70. It's a nice, clean hotel. The rooms are a good size with a desk, fridge, TV and microwave. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The walls are a little thin or maybe my neighbors were a bit noisy. Overall, it's a great place at a good price. read more

We discovered this motel in Brazil, Indiana when we'd been driving for hours, and all the rooms in Terra Haute were booked. Wonderful room...large, clean, great beds, lots of pillows, clean bathroom and fridge. Quiet room too! What more could tired travelers want! Breakfast in the morning too! The most horrendous service I have ever received from any corporation in my entire life. I booked a room for one night in this facility. The initial room I walked into was an absolute SAUNA. I genuinely could not breathe in the room from the second I walked in. I got extremely hot, sweaty, and claustrophobic. I put my orange juice in the fridge and tried to turn down the temperature but nothing happened and it was absolutely unbearable in the room. I went back down to the front desk and informed them of the issue and they changed my room without an issue. The next morning I get ready to leave and realize I had left my juice in the room. I went back to the room and tried to get in with the card key, thinking maybe the room was still linked and I could grab it. I could not enter the room so I went to the front desk and informed them that I needed someone to go get my juice for me. Three young children, out of uniform, went back to the room to retrieve the juice for me. A few days later I see a second charge on my card. I figure that they accidentally charged me for both rooms, so I called them to situate things. They inform me that I was given a $150 fee for smoking in the room. I am not a smoker and did not smoke in the room. The manager claims that she has "video evidence of me going back into the room and walking around the building" but also admitted that I could not enter the room and that their staff had to enter it for me. The General Manager has hung up on me and refuses to speak with me. I have gotten nowhere and have been wrongfully charged $150. read more

Absolutely the WORST customer service desk personnel ever. Horrible rooms, bed was so hard I slept in my vehicle while my $125 room was still paid for. Asked for a refund after only being here two hours (with the intentions of leaving with my refund) and of course there was not a manager and I was told to wait until 7am. Mind you, I had a midnight check in and this was at 2:15am. The NOISE was awful. You can hear everything in the halls and other rooms. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL! This hotel is very clean and has some good amenities like a microwave and fridge in the room and a nice fitness center, but there are definitely some things you should know before staying here. The walls are paper thin, I was woken up by some neighbors at 1:30am and could literally hear every word of their conversation and then again by the TV from another neighbor at 6am. The poor construction isn't limited to the wall thickness, the tiles were coming lose on our bathroom floor. The breakfast looks big but has very limited options. There wasn't even butter available for my toast. And the wi-fi is slow and cuts in and out. Overall, it wasn't a terrible stay, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again. read more

Stopped after a long day of driving for one night at Brazil Ind., Best Western. Very clean, friendly staff, easy check in. Comfortable beds, rooms were nicely decorated. Small fridge, microwave, hairdryer, flat screen, etc... Didn't hear a bunch of outside noise and we slept comfortably. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast: eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, bagels and so forth. We didn't have any complaints. read more

Our main complaint is that the walls are paper thin and it's almost impossible to get a good night's sleep. Our first night was a Thursday and we were rudely awakened by extremely loud music from the TV in the next room, which was quickly drowned out by the loudest sex I've ever heard. We had to call the front desk to interrupt the screaming and headboard banging (we could hear the whole call, the response, and then the quieter continuation of their "fun"). The next night it sounded like a while family was taking a bath together at midnight. It was very strange. The service was friendly and the room was clean. My husband and I are Canadians who own a second home in Scottsdale, Arizona. As retired professionals, we keep our own schedule. When we drive south for the winter, we take our time and stay at a minimum of four hotels both ways. We usually stay at the La Quintas, Marriots or Holiday Inns. Taking a new route home this year, we found ourselves in Brazil Indiana and stopped for gas. I spotted a Best Western across the street which looked new and nice and as I had to use a washroom, I thought I would also take this opportunity to check out a possible new place to stay on our next trip. I walked into the lobby, and something happened that I have never experienced in ANY other hotel anywhere, and we travel alot. The woman behind the front desk (nametag "Rhonda") refused to let me use the washroom. Here I was, a well-dressed lone woman, and her excuse was that "the washrooms are for staying guests". What a poor first impression of the Best Western chain and a particularly unfriendly thing to do considering the relatively remote location of this hotel. I have often gone into the Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, La Quinta etc and other Best Westerns, for that matter, not only been welcome to use the washroom, but sometimes offered a water or cookies, even though they were aware I was not a guest at that time. THIS is how your competition treats people, Rhonda. I wonder if what was really going on was that when I, a slim, very fit woman came through the door in skinny jeans and heels, the significantly overweight Rhonda's claws came out? Regardless of what her motivation was, it assured that Best Western lost two potential long term customers, as we plan to drive south to our Arizona house for the rest of our lives, and sometimes drive down in the summer months. We will be sticking with our other brands for this type of travel. read more

This hotel is supposed to be 100% no smoking. Evidently someone in a room near my room was smoking in their bathroom with the fan on. That filled my room with the smell of their second hand smoke. It was like putting my face in an ash tray. I also thought there was a chance the hotel was on fire. This happened many times during my stay. I called the front desk at least 4 times and complained. No offer to change rooms for me or give me a little money back. The next morning I complained at the front desk. The lady was apologetic and was saying they were going to fine the person $1,000. I asked for a little money off my bill but she couldn't do that. I called a corporate number and all they could do was give me a few points on a rewards program and upgrade my status. What a joke! They want your money and won't give any back if they cannot provide the service promised! I stay at many hotels and even if it was a smoking property I've never had anything like this happen and be so annoying!! read more
