The response from the vet was "we're just about to start our afternoon procedures and can't help". Stunned I asked "really, she has a mouth full of quills"... the reply: "we're sorry" I then drove another 25 minutes to the vet on Falmouth Foreside who admitted us and after administering a mild sedative removed the quills and discharged my pup 30 minutes later. I would never recommend Cumberland Animal Clinic to anyone. Hopefully the vet didn't have too hard a day and got home on time. Again, is this what small animal veterinary care has become?

From the doctors to the…read moretechnicians to the front of house staff, every single person I have interacted with there has been exceptionally kind, professional, above and beyond proficient, and absolutely informed and able to help me with whatever my needs may be. They have often been able to squeeze me in last minute when necessary, I have never had to wait past my scheduled appointment time, the office is immaculate, and Dr. Lucas especially has gone above and beyond for me as veterinarian. My dog absolutely adores it there; there is no place he is more excited to be. This excitement results in a rather naughty, licky, and rambunctious pup, but the people at CAC love him anyway, handling his energy with compassion and skill. I feel that my dog recieves the best care possible, and that I am treated with fairness, kindness, and respect. After receiving treatment at CAC, I always receive a follow up call to check on my dog's progress. Una's medical care is better than my own! They thoroughly vet applicants and what accommodions the animals would have to ensure they have a great quality of life and go to homes where people can support their little lives. We learned a lot from them about good rat husbandry and appreciate all the work they do, especially for animals often overlooked. So so so much better than going to a crummy pet store. They then asked for two adult non-related references (!) and then subjected the family to the most intrusive and rude boundry-overstepping that I have come across in a awhile. Never-ending emails over the course of a week criticizing the toys that they had for the hamster, telling them which food to buy, which bedding to buy, what room to keep him in...yes I am serious. If I could give zero stars I would. They ended up saying forget it and to not worry about it but really, I am upset that they were subjected to this by their adoption counselor (really a person who is fostering the animal) but more than that I feel sad for the animal/animals that could go to a loving home but instead will be stuck in foster care.

My husband and I have been taking our pets here for about 15 years. It used to be a great place that we trusted, but we have seen this place change over time, and not in a positive way. It started when I took my hound Gunnar there when he was puppy. A vet tech asked if I ever had a dog named River. I answered no, I never did. She then proceeded to say "Yes, You did, I know your name, Stephanie Grant!" Then proceeded to berate me on things I supposedly did this dog named River who I had never heard of. (By the way, I know there is another person who shares my name who lives in my area, or at least used to. I only know this, because I received her sewer bill once in error) When She was done, I shrugged it off as an odd encounter, thinking it was someone having a mental health breakdown. My hound, Gunnar received all his care there from puppyhood to his last day. The last day, though, was the final straw for me. On Tuesday 1/13/2026 Gunnar's health suddenly deteriorated within hours, to the point where he was unable to walk. He was quite elderly by this point, and we had expected this. At over 90 pounds, he was a large dog in a great deal of pain. I asked if he could be possibly be euthanasized in our vehicle. Instead, I was curtly told that he needed to be brought inside for a "quality of life check-up" because it was over a year since he was seen. This made me feel like a neglectful pet owner, even though I was sure it hadn't been that long. Later on, I looked through my CareCredit receipts and saw that Gunnar had a wellness checkup on 1/17/25, so he had been seen, in fact LESS than a year. Since Gunnar was unable to walk, we had to put him on a stretcher and bring him inside, rather than taking our word for it. For us, it wasn't about the money at all, how we were treated or gaslit. Or, perhaps, the staff thought I was the other Stephanie Grant, I don't know. Have your vendetta all you want with me, (or whomever you think I am) but DO NOT take it out on my dying dog. It was about the unnesscary pain and discomfort Gunnar went through on his last day on Earth. For that, I will never forgive them. I'm kicking myself for not refusing and taking him to an emergency veterinarian instead who would have done the procedure at our vehicle. There's been a few things about this place that's rubbed me the wrong way, but I will never forget how we were treated. Gunnar deserved better than this.

I have been bringing my dogs to Meadowsweet for over fifteen years. I'd never bring them anywhere…read moreelse! I board my dogs there and also send my dogs to daycare. When they see their "dog bag" packed up they can't wait to get into the car. They come home tired and happy. They love it there. The facility is located on seven private acres far away from any busy streets. There are several large fenced in areas where they can play with their dog friends. There are no kennels inside but rather comfortable chairs and dog beds where all the dogs can relax. Like being home. Most important for me is how the staff treats my dogs as if they are their own. Very caring. Robin, the owner is so knowledgeable about dogs. She has helped me with my own dog's behavior. I trust her totally. Everyone at Meadowsweet communicates very well. I always know what's going on and feel my dogs are safe at Meadowsweet. You will not find a better place than Meadowsweet for your dogs.

We have lived in Boston and San Diego and I kid you not, she is the best groomer we have ever been too! So many other groomers have charged more and sent him home covered in fur and done a mediocre job. Not at Dawgtopia! Our frenchie is SO CLEAN, she did the best job with his overgrown nails, and she took extra care in cleaning his face folds. She genuinely seems to like what she does and loves animals. That being said, we were very impressed by this place. As a greyhound owner, finding a safe & enclosed place for the hounds to run can be difficult. The facility here has a perfectly sized fenced-in field that provides enough space to allow for some serious running. We met the owner and she was very welcoming and seems very knowledgeable about different breeds and their needs. The couple who invited us as guests said they have been very happy with the training classes they have taken here with their hound.
