He said whatever the volunteers told me is all I need to know, there's no forms to fill out, just read what's on their website! It was disappointing someone who works in an animal shelter/adoption center could be so lack of compassions. He just didn't care. Unpaid volunteers are kind hearted & eager to help while paid County workers are the one with the attitudes. Sadly, something is wrong with the system.

I found a few cats I liked on Petfinder, so I called Glenda and she invited me to see them at her house. I'm not sure exactly how many cats are involved with Puden's, but I do know that its WAY more then the 4 are shown on Petfinder. At Glenda's, my boyfriend and I were seated in her closed living room. She then brought us cats, let us meet them, took them back out and gave us more cats. Overall we met about a dozen cats. This woman has a lot of cats. We really liked about 4, but fell in love with one (a flame point Siamese named Honey Dew Drops- we changed her name). We then filled out an application (address, vet, references, etc) and left. 5 days later Glenda called us and told us to come pick up the cat! While skitzy at first, the cat we adopted is by far the best cat I've owned. Its very high quality- loves strangers, sits in your lap and fetches. (As far as I can tell, Glenda hand picks Siamese cats (and some others) from shelters, and breeders give her animals that are not quite right- like runts, etc) Basically, if you want to adopt a cat I recommend Glenda and Puden's Place. Weirder then your average shelter/rescue, yes, but you get to adopt a hand picked cat. Glenda will tell you all about the cat's habits, if its a good choice for you (active, lazy, attention hog, etc). So much better than visiting a shelter and you still get to save a life! Just a note: If you suffer from migraines, this foster home is not a good place for you to visit.

She has been a happy cat in her own home, wtf they think this is a rescue. Now I have to either kiss their ass or be assertive to fight against this negativity just to get her rescued from these horrible ppl. F that! If they don't practice as ethical as it should be, this is a big big issue! The brands stocked are reputable and not priced unreasonably for the consistent high quality that you will be receiving with many of these items. I would rather buy a cat bowl from a place with pet health in mind, which will account for the needs of the cat, rather than some random piece of plastic/potential lead infected made in China crap that may give my cat acne or make them sick. Your pet's health is worth it. On one occasion I entered the store, I overheard a clerk mention they weren't pleased with how a company responded to a cat getting sick to their product; so they removed it from their shelves. To me, this clearly shows they care about the well-being of the customers' pets! The food here ranges to accommodate all manner of diets. Raw/cooked, low processed, small-batch, locally/domestically owned business - high protein, low carb dry kibble - or a myriad of wet can varieties and brands to pick from. They sometimes provide free samples, which helps in trying new items for your furry friends when the price point can be steep.

I followed my excellent independent vet to this practice a couple of years ago and he had since…read moreretired. What I noticed was a proliferation of emails encouraging me to buy things from this practice, but not an improvement in the medical care my pets have received. In particular, my diabetic cat has twice had two hypoglycemic events that almost killed him based on the dosing of insulin recommended by the vets at this clinic. I got better advice from a FB Feline Diabetes support group. The last time this happened in August of 2026, it took days for anyone to get back to me and it was a largely unhelpful email. Next, I called the clinic after my other cat started drooling blood. They suggested taking him to emergency, who didn't have a veterinarian who could handle what I thought was a dental issue. When I was finally able to get an appointment, the vet said it was an abscess. Then he wanted to do bloodwork in case he had a thyroid issue and in case I wanted dental work, which my cat was in no shape for--his face was swollen. They gave me a five-day series of an antibiotic, which they said he needed to be on for two weeks--which left me trying to get a refill. They dragged their feet approving the refill ($58 from them, $9.65 from Chewy). I was very upset because my cat went for two days without medication. I called later in the week. My cat was now drooling blood with tissue in it and they asked if he was in pain. I asked why they hadn't addressed that when I first brought him in and they said they thought it would get better as the "infection" cleared. When I picked up the second round of meds, I let them know how unhappy I was and that I no longer trusted their expertise. I went to another vet for my cat's alleged oral issue only to find out it is a likely terminal bony lesion--how the vet failed to do an X-ray and sent my cat home with way less medication he needed, no pain control, and no follow up is remarkable. Fairland is now owned by a private equity firm so the agenda is not pet care--it is profit. You cannot get a same day or emergency appointment from this clinic. The phone is answered by an AI named Benny who can't tell he difference between one medication or another. They market the hell out of you to buy expensive food and flea control, but gouge you on medications you really need while dragging their feet approving the same medication where you could purchase it cheaper. They do not care if they incorrectly diagnose or incorrectly prescribe--they care about profit. My cats have both suffered from their lack of concern. They will terminate your relationship with them if you give them a bad review. They were really pissed that other clients heard my anger. I'll bet they're wondering if their animals are getting quality care. A vet who can't tell a tumor from a dental issue surely isn't delivering that.

Although I was a bit taken aback by the expensive prices, I went ahead and purchased two packages of treats for my dog. One of them was a package of bully sticks, but they made my dog throw up everything she had eaten that day. I no longer had the receipt, but figured that since it was a boutique pet store, they would certainly let me exchange the package for something else. I walked in and nicely asked if I could exchange the package because they were making my dog sick. Very angrily, the guy working there said, "If you don't have a receipt or an account here, I can't do anything to help you." I was pretty taken aback by the attitude and the answer. As I turned to walk out, he said, "Fine, I'll do it. You can exchange it." I found a couple of things to exchange it for and as I brought it up to the counter, I said that maybe I signed up for an account last time I was there because I seem to remember giving them my phone number. He then punched the palm of his hand with his fist! What the heck!? I then laid my original purchase and what I had chosen to exchange on the counter and said, "You seem like a really angry person, so I'm just going to lay these here and leave for good." Not only have they lost a customer, I will be preaching from the rafters that it is not a good place to go. I actually felt unsafe with this individual near me. Also, even Kohl's lets you exchange something without a receipt and even without tags (these treats at least still had a UPC on it) but a boutique store that charges a lot more than most pet stores won't? Not a good look.
