I have never had an encounter as badly as the one I had today. A few weeks ago, I went in for the first time with Princess Leia, my new Shih Poo. Although I was a bit taken aback by the expensive prices, I went ahead and purchased two packages of treats for my dog. One of them was a package of bully sticks, but they made my dog throw up everything she had eaten that day. I no longer had the receipt, but figured that since it was a boutique pet store, they would certainly let me exchange the package for something else. I walked in and nicely asked if I could exchange the package because they were making my dog sick. Very angrily, the guy working there said, "If you don't have a receipt or an account here, I can't do anything to help you." I was pretty taken aback by the attitude and the answer. As I turned to walk out, he said, "Fine, I'll do it. You can exchange it." I found a couple of things to exchange it for and as I brought it up to the counter, I said that maybe I signed up for an account last time I was there because I seem to remember giving them my phone number. He then punched the palm of his hand with his fist! What the heck!? I then laid my original purchase and what I had chosen to exchange on the counter and said, "You seem like a really angry person, so I'm just going to lay these here and leave for good." Not only have they lost a customer, I will be preaching from the rafters that it is not a good place to go. I actually felt unsafe with this individual near me. Also, even Kohl's lets you exchange something without a receipt and even without tags (these treats at least still had a UPC on it) but a boutique store that charges a lot more than most pet stores won't? I came here once when my one cat was diagnosed with cancer and I met CJ who went out of his way to make sure my cat had every single thing that could maybe nurse him back to health. Since he passed I realized I didn't want to wait until last minute for my other cat and wanted to make sure he's the healthiest he could be. Went in there today to buy some dog food Literally stood In front of the counter to pay why the guy just ignored me while he was on the phone . Didnt even address me I was ready to walk out untill The other guy was helping someone else Seen I was there waiting to pay and came to charge me out . I love this store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They can help you select a pet food, point you in the direction of a holistic medicine, or discuss training methods. The variety of pet foods is good, but I can also find the specialty food that I am looking for. Drew, CJ, Taylor, and Steve understand the vagaries of our 18 year old cat who loves one type of food one minute then hates it the next. They're always helpful with suggestions and don't seem to mind when we have to return the once loved, now hated food to exchange for something else. Love this store. read more

I love the wide selection of food and treats for pets. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The owners need to reevaluate their prices. Unfortunately the prices are too high and continue to rise. I believe in purchasing local and supporting small businesses, but the recent price increases on dog food is over the top. In 6 months they have raised the price on a 2.2 lb of Ziwipeaks dog food by more than 30%. The bag was $28.99 at the beginning of the year. They raised it by $5.00 a few months ago. I went to the store last week and they raised it AGAIN another $5.00. You can find the same size bag on Amazon & at another local store for the $28.99 price. This store demands the high prices because of the high priced neighborhood it is situated in. Plus they recently moved to a larger store. Pet owners are crazy to deal with such blown out prices. I recommend shopping online. read more

I thought that most things there would be more pricey than other pet supply stores, but they actually have some great deals, and the organics, etc... are plentiful. They've got a wide array of toys, treats, and just about every accessory one can imagine, and the staff is always ready with a treat for Scout! read more

came here to buy some organic all natural treats for my pup, some toys for my girls crazy old cat, and of coure, a tiny Baltimore Ravens football jersey for Frankie (my favorite little french bulldog here in Wasington DC) so now he and his "person" have matching ones! This place is a great green pet store....they have every option you could hope for. Plus it is part of a greater effort combined with roots market (organic market), great sage(organic restaurant) and nest(fair trade gift store). Not too cheap, but worth it to feed your pets what they deserve to keep them healthy and happy. This location is a lot smaller than the one in clarksville and feels more cluttered. Because of their small size I would think they don't have the local pet shelters come by for adoption events like they do at their olney location. If you buy raw, start a frequent primal buyer card....buy 10 get one free (not to be used at olney location). I gave the olney location 5 stars...I would go there first, but I'm glad they have more than one location so that more people have access to quality pet items. read more

I became a fan of the Olney store after it opened and have since moved to Columbia. Naturally, I love that they have a Clarksville location. It is a small store, so you can't really buy all of your pet needs there. Which means that you could go from Bark to PetSmart in a day if you are needing a variety of specific items and that is kind of a pain. But I think Bark is the place to go to when you are looking for quality pet food, and it is definitely worth the trip and price. Plus, Roots is right next door (just like in Olney), so you have a convenient "green" shopping area, which is wonderful! read more

The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and they have solid prices on some of the brands I have been looking for. Best part is that that if they have the brand they carry, but not the specific variety/flavor you want in stock, they will special order it. For me they were even happy to send it to a different store if it was better for pick-up. read more

I have a 12 years old dog who is sensitive with foods. I love the Bark stores because I feel comfortable that I won't get her anything that has bad ingredients in it. Even though I still read labels, etc I know that Bark has really high standards for the products they sell. I like the Clarksville location especially because all of the girls there are great, especially Ali. I had a hot spot question for my dog and Ali was off work that day, one of the other girls gave me her email address and she responded right away - she is very caring and has great advice to give. (Her advice is especially helpful to me because even though my doggy is 12, I have only had her for a year and half so I am still new at this fur mom thing!) Love this place! read more
