    Birthday cookies

Awesome pet store/boutique! I was looking for a dog bakery for some special treats for my pup's birthday. Pet Barn has a bakery case filled with the cutest birthday cookies, cakes, cannolis, donuts, etc.! The store also carries a lot of diet and allergy friendly treats and food for animals. One of my pets is allergic to poultry, barley, flax, and eggs so it can be hard to find a variety of treats for him. Pet Barn had a vast variety of brands and flavors to choose from that met all of my pet's allergy needs.

    Barn any unforeseen circumstances

I decided that instead of keeping a live animal in my house, I'd just keep a miniature barn, and pretend it was an animal. I call it my Pet Barn. Everyone should have a barn for a pet, it's great. So little maintenance and it never needs food. This is a lovely pet store which feels locally-owned in Fulton but probably isn't, or then again maybe it is. I can't be sure either way but they're really friendly and have a huge amount of organic products, which is good. I can't give them five stars with the prices being this high, but almost every pet store seems to be a rip-off these days, so it's not like these guys are the only ones doing that.

Although I was a bit taken aback by the expensive prices, I went ahead and purchased two packages of treats for my dog. One of them was a package of bully sticks, but they made my dog throw up everything she had eaten that day. I no longer had the receipt, but figured that since it was a boutique pet store, they would certainly let me exchange the package for something else. I walked in and nicely asked if I could exchange the package because they were making my dog sick. Very angrily, the guy working there said, "If you don't have a receipt or an account here, I can't do anything to help you." I was pretty taken aback by the attitude and the answer. As I turned to walk out, he said, "Fine, I'll do it. You can exchange it." I found a couple of things to exchange it for and as I brought it up to the counter, I said that maybe I signed up for an account last time I was there because I seem to remember giving them my phone number. He then punched the palm of his hand with his fist! What the heck!? I then laid my original purchase and what I had chosen to exchange on the counter and said, "You seem like a really angry person, so I'm just going to lay these here and leave for good." Not only have they lost a customer, I will be preaching from the rafters that it is not a good place to go. I actually felt unsafe with this individual near me. Also, even Kohl's lets you exchange something without a receipt and even without tags (these treats at least still had a UPC on it) but a boutique store that charges a lot more than most pet stores won't? Not a good look.

Well, it's true when they say you can never go back. The Hard Times cafe was destroyed and replaced by a bank, and the Just Puppies is a sad, depressing shell of what it once was. You were once able to open up any cage and take out a puppy. They you could walk it over to a small play area and have it run about for a bit. Or if the rooms were filled, you could simply hold the puppy in your arms. Then they locked up all the cages and you needed permission to pick up a puppy. Now, you need to give your photo ID to handle a puppy. The end result is that the puppies are getting petted and handled a lot less often, leaving them whimpering and longing for attention. Add to this the dog pee on the floor around the cages and you're left with a pretty depressing place (and depressing yelp review!). Whatever was once good about this place is long gone. Now it's just a urine-soaked puppy mill.

I should have trusted my gut and taken the refund, but silly me, I gave them another chance. And it was the biggest mistake ever. My dog has a few mats, sure, but in the three years I've had her, no groomer has ever shaved her face and ears. Kimberly took it upon herself to do just that, for absolutely no reason. Luckily, for those of us who have grown up with the much-less-risky and more accessible hobby of birding, there is no shortage of books that could instruct and fascinate audiences: David Allan Sibley's The Sibley Guide to Birds, Ken Kauffman's Lives of North American Birds, and, most recently, Amy Tan's Backyard Bird Chronicles, to name a few. Bottom line: 5/5 do recommend!

Two years after boarding my dog at Olde Towne Pet Resort, I am still dealing with health issues…read morecaused during her stay. I am not one to complain, especially in a public forum, but the lack of care my animal received was egregious. During her stay, my dog experienced an ear infection so severe that she developed acute dermatitis from scratching. The sore or 'hot spot' on her cheek was unmissable when we picked her up, but The staff tried to pass it off as if everything was normal. The groomer who prepared her for pickup had the gall to pretend he didn't notice a massive weeping sore on her face. For her condition to have reached this point, she would have needed to scratch constantly for days and not be noticed by the staff that were supposed to be spending 'cuddle time' with her daily. As anyone who has ever had a pet with an ear infection can attest, the behavior is far from subtle. Any remotely observant and competent person would catch it. Worse, I reviewed the update photos that were sent throughout her stay, and red spot on her cheek is visible in every shot and getting progressively worse. This means that the staff overseeing playtime let an animal run around with blood on her face for days without investigating. This is utterly unacceptable. My dog also came home with constant bouts of diarrhea that we assumed this might have been a bug she picked up in boarding, but it turned out to be colitis. Our veterinarian confirmed that this was most likely stress-induced. It has made me wonder what trauma my dog experienced while being boarded that would cause her to develop a permanent bowel condition. Her colitis has caused her enormous suffering and I am still trying to manage the condition years later. As others have reported here, the staff did not feed my animal the way they were directed, and returned what was supposed to be an empty bag of dog food to us half-full. So to recap, they underfed my dog in addition to neglecting an ear infection and resultant severe, pus-weeping skin infection, then tried to pass my pet off to me as if nothing happened. Whatever they did or neglected to do for her led to a chronic bowel condition that has rendered her partially incontinent. I was appalled by the dishonesty I experienced from the staff, but decided at the time to let it go, and simply swore never to give Olde Towne my business again. I figured my dog would bounce back, but she didn't. Reflecting that she has never been the same and that she experienced pain and neglect at the hands of the people I entrusted her with, I feel the need to let other pet owners know what they might be in for if they board their animals here.

I always sort my wet food cans by flavor so the cashier can more easily scan the cans. A previous cashier (who provided good customer service) once thanked me for that. Some cashiers then just place the cans into the bag, keeping them relatively orderly, whereas increasingly, I've gotten cashiers who just toss them into the bag in a big "mess." Not the biggest deal in the world, but it's annoying. How hard is it to just place the cans in the bag? The cashier I ran into yesterday was....not great at customer service. I definitely felt like it was an inconvenience that I was even there. She of course tossed all those cans into the bag, which I had to ask for in the first place. She gets the prize for roughest tossing. I had a coupon for one of the items. When I got out to my car, I discovered the coupon didn't take. I went back in to tell her and I was met with an attitude. She pulled the coupon back out and got her manager. He seemed annoyed by the whole thing as well. He immediately accused her of giving me the coupon back, asking her something like, "Why does she have it?" I didn't, she did. But obviously I would want it back if it didn't take. The manager did honor the coupon, which I appreciated, but there was a rough attitude there. No wonder the cashier was rude as well? I left feeling really uncomfortable, and don't plan on returning any time soon. (I also left feeling slightly concerned about any animals in their care. If that's how they treat a human who can leave reviews, how do they treat animals without voices? Hopefully they like the animals better than the annoying human customers.)
