Overall - my move went very smoothly. They showed up at the time they said they would - they did push back by an hour in the morning which I didn't mind in the morning - they called the night before to confirm. I didn't have a lot of stuff but they were considerate and careful with my stuff, covered all furniture with padding to avoid any damage. I'd reccomend them to others moving. Cons - they have this weird thing called a "booking fee" that showed up on my invoice. So when I got a discount coupon for $50 - which is also the cost of the booking fee - in effect - I didn't really get any cost off the real moving costs - like labour etc. But their hourly rate seems comparable with the going market rate. I just think that a discount needs to mean a real discount. Not a discount that cancels out some other fee. Not sure if it was a legitamate fee either. read more

If I could rate them negative stars, I would. I also wish I would have listened to the other many reviews talking about how terrible they are and how they steal your things. My fiance and I were moving from two different apartments into one apartment. All three apartments were within 2 blocks of each other. I had a long talk with Kevin (the owner) before the move expressing our concern that we were on a tight timeline because each of our apartment buildings had loading docks that could only be reserved for 2-3 hours. We also made sure to pack everything up before they arrived so that it would make the move go faster and be easier....at least that is what we thought. When they didn't show up at 9 am like discussed, I tried calling them around 9:30 to find out if they were still coming. I got a complete run around saying that they were only 10 minutes away. This happened at least 3 times. When they finally arrived, 2 hours late, we only had the loading dock for one hour. They assured me they could get it done. They then proceeded to stand in my apartment talking, eat my food, and waste time by walking around my building. Finally, after about 2.5 hours, we had the truck loaded up and headed across the street to my fiance's apartment. We had the same situation happen...standing around, eating our food, and wasting time. I also take great pride in taking care of my furniture and they proceeded to scratch every single piece I own (roughly around 11 pieces, from my bed to dressers to end tables to book cases). I tried to talk to them and even called Kevin multiple times to explain how they were acting...thinking that as an owner he would do something to correct the situation. He did not. Instead, it got even worse. When we finally got to the final apartment to unload everything we had missed our window for the loading dock (we were at 5.5 hours) so we had to park at the very end of my building at walk everything in. During the process, they slammed into all the walls in my building, resulting in our new management having to talk with them and us 3 different times telling us they were going to charge us. They dropped my book case and smashed it into pieces, they tried to cover it up by throwing it into a dumpster and not telling us about it. They smashed my dresser mirror and once again tried to pretend it didn't happen. Then continued to scratch up all my furniture. When all was said and done Kevin tried to charge us $900! It took them 9 hours to move our stuff ACROSS THE STREET and it was all packed up! It was insane to me. This was even after I explained to him all the damage they had done, the amount of time they wasted by walking around and eating OUR food, and the fact that they were 2 hours late in the morning. He would not budge. I ended up agreeing to $400 because I just wanted them to leave and have the day be over, but Kevin promised that he would take my dresser mirror and replace it and return it to me. I should have known better than to agree to this. It took 3.5 months, hiring a lawyer, and getting the police involved to get my mirror back. When it was finally returned to me, it had so much damage it was barely recognizable. I beg any of you who are reading this, please please please please DO NOT use Knoble moving. They are the most unethical company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. In case anyone is still even considering using them, I also have all the documentation to prove everything, including pictures, emails, letters from our lawyer, and calls from the police department. read more

Sydney & Will were my movers yesterday & not only were they beyond kind to me & my family...they were so easy-going & able to make the best of [logistically-speaking] moving things from a high-rise condo unit to a single family detached home. I couldn't have felt like my things were in more capable hands. I scheduled my move last minute with Kevin (last-minute meaning: the morning of), and expected everything should've taken max 3 hours...it took a total of 5 hours, but these guys didn't even bat an eyelash at the fact that we were a bit disorganized or that they'd be working late into a Saturday evening. They moved things for me with ease and professionalism, answered mine & my [tough-as-nails] mother's every demand & did it with a smile. They were not only professional (using all the things that professional movers do: blankets, plastic wrap, carts), but were incredibly reasonably priced and seemed to put an immense value on my happiness. They even let me use a whole roll of their tape for no cost, and offered to bring boxes (which I would've had to pay for) when I said I didn't have many. I couldn't be more pleased & I can't believe I'm saying all this because seriously: moving is stressful (especially when someone is 9 months pregnant & their husband's out-of-town ;)). Guess what happened when I booked Knoble Movers for a move this past weekend, meriting one star (which would definitely be zero, for quite literal reasons, if that was possible)? No, they did not break or lose my stuff; no, their movers did not overcharge me unexpectedly or treat me inappropriately throughout the move. The illustrious movers contracted with this company did one worse than all of that: THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. Yeah. I booked them for a move, which was confirmed on the date and time, and got a quote and everything, and they completely forgot about me and failed to show. They also failed to answer the emails and many phone calls that I placed wondering where they were and how they could have forgotten me. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, because there is a chance they will totally and completely bail on you just like your flakiest non-friend. I hope that the guys from Knoble Movers were having a wonderful day at the beach or whatever on Sunday because I was standing among my boxes and furniture and freaking the hell out... and booking a move the following day with Bookstore Movers, who I would highly, highly recommend by the way. If you're thinking about using this company please take heed of my advice and don't. This is not a legit company with their own moving materials. They simply rent a moving truck from budget and slap together moving your items. I had multiple plastic containers that were damaged and used to prop open the back door! It had fragile Christmas ornaments in it. My bedroom furniture was taken apart improperly and therefore once it arrived it was unusable. Parts had been yanked out and screws missing. Our book cases were scratched and the hardwood floor was scratched and damaged. On top of that they couldn't get the couch up the stairs which I ultimately had to give away. That wasn't necessarily their fault but the only other mover aside from Kevin told me to help Kevin move the couch up the stairs! This same Person kept asking me for extra money to move the items I paid $1800 plus to have movers move in the first place! He complained the entire time because his back couldn't take moving my things and that I was a strong girl. Once they were done moving, the man sat in the car swearing and laying on the horn. I live in a building with families and was reprimanded by my landlord! When I contacted Kevin about the damages to my belongings he questioned me even though I had sent him multiple photos of the damage. After weeks of him not responding to me, he finally told me he would be sending me a check. Well two months later he has not responded to the information that he requested I send, no emails or texts or phone calls. Just super upsetting that people are so dishonest. Please don't trust this company. It might seem better price wise but you'll wind up having to rebuy everythjng. read more

I randomly chose these guys on Yelp based on their 2 hour minimum versus everyone else's 3 hour minimum. I knew there would be trouble from the beginning when I couldn't get him to send me the agreement and reservation confirmation until the day before move out/in. Kevin and his guy were great, I gave his help a large tip because they were very efficient and fast. I would have no problem recommending him until I realized that a few pieces were missing. I called him a few times and each time he said they would bring it by the next day, thus acknowledging that they had them but didn't want to bring it to me. It is because they won't return my stuff that I have to sadly give them 2 stars. I am really upset about it b/c they were great movers. read more

They were extremely friendly, considerate. They even took apart a large Ikea wall unit in order to move it from the bedroom. They were prompt in getting back to me and confirming the dates. On the day of one of the guys got stuck in an elevator at the move site before mine. They were prompt in telling me and kept me informed throughout. When they arrived they were professional and yet laid-back and friendly. They took apart my furniture (they even had the annoying little IKEA wrench that I'd lost) and reassembled it. They kept telling me to stop moving things because they were there to ensure my move was low stress and I did minimal work. It was such a relief to have their help after a stressful housing search. These guys were amazing. I used Knoble for my move from Arlington, VA to Queens, NY. They were able to accommodate my request on very short notice (got a quote Monday for a Thursday pickup). The price was much better than every other company that I talked to - I was getting quoted $2800-3000 but Knoble was around $1500 for my studio move. Mike and Jamal were extremely professional and helpful. They arrived on time for the pickup and managed the entire job in an hour. They expertly disassembled my queen bed and wrapped my furniture quickly. On the delivery the following day, they were right on time again. It was a tricky delivery (double doors with locks, an old elevator) but they managed all the difficulties efficiently and effectively. They put together my furniture quickly and it looks great. I booked my movers last minute and had to call about 10 places. Kevin was the only one who could accommodate my time frame. I was a little nervous about the lack of reviews on yelp. However, best decision EVER! It took them 4.5 hours to move a studio from Arlington to Cleveland Park. Kevin and his partner were friendly, efficient, and very careful with my belongings. The move probably could have taken 3.5 hours, but the elevator broke. The crew didn't mess around. The worked hard and quickly despite the set back. This made me happy as my bill easily could have been higher and I was not expecting it to take longer than 3.5 to 4 hours. When Kevin was done, he knocked of a half an hour the bill because the elevator issue was really no one's fault. I paid for 4 instead of 4.5 hours. I thought this was very nice and fair of him. There were also no hidden fees..just the per hour rate and the flat materials fee. I don't plan on moving for a while, but when and if I do, Knoble Moving will be the first company I call! read more

After confirming our move via email and phone, Kevin called me two hours before our move to say they couldn't find a truck, and did we want to reschedule (as if this is a dental appt, with no prep work). After texting him and trying to call him with multiple truck options after that, he never picked up the entire day, and hasn't called or emailed since. Knoble said they would call me on the day of the move, but I had to call them. However there was no sales or customer service available (weird for Monday during the day) so I left a voicemail. I didn't hear anything concerning my move until the time of my move. And what I learned was disappointing - they were running late. The reason this was annoying was because I asked for a window when I was scheduling the move, but I was assured there was no window and that they would arrive on the dot. Well they ended up being 45 minutes late. Then they took the shrink wrap off my sofa because that supposedly would make it easier to move. Well, my sofa got dirty and they were unable to bring it into my apartment anyway. Fortunately I had a storage space that the sofa would fit into, but I had to go get the seat cushions myself because the movers just abandoned it in the hallway. Then they did not replace the shrink wrap they removed!! On top of this, one mover was not pulling his fair share. A lot of standing around waiting. For instance something like putting the bed together took too long because of this. I will say that their pricing is good; that is the only reason this review is not 1 star. read more
