Dave's team moved me on two occasions. One within building apartment move two years ago, and today from my apartment to my new townhome. I can't thank him and his crew enough! They are so efficient, conscientious, and curtious. I didn't have to ask them to do anything. They know exactly how to handle my items, package, re/disessemble, and troubleshoot challenges with narrow hallways and doors. Dave and Team are personable, timely, and simply incredible. They showed up 10 minutes early, which is not an issue for me (I've seen reviews for other companies where people complain about people showing up 10-15 early...). The team of three had a 1bd/1ba sized apartment of furniture and boxes loaded within 30 minutes!!! Drove all the way from the Baltimore area down to the Springfield mixing bowl (~60 miles), and unloaded SLOW and CAREFULLY. Dave even took notice to ask if the floors and paint were new, which they were. No nicks, dings, and all furniture were moved without any damage. They completed the move within 3 hours! Also, I need to mention, this was a Thursday midday traffic move. On a tangent, because I planned to renovate the home, I removed all the old METAL interior doors (3) and closet doors (5) as well, for an additional $125 they were taken and "hauled". Just used them for a cross town move. Highly recommend. Was really really impressed on three fronts (communication, cost, and movers): 1. Dave is amazingly responsive. I contacted him about a week before the move and emailed/ or called him daily. He responded each time and was super patient throughout the process. I've used other moving companies where you just get a quote and the movers show up with little communication in between. It was refreshing to have him constantly available. 2. The cost is the cheapest of all the movers. I have a spreadsheet and quotes and WeHaul DC was the cheapest by at least 80. 3. The movers were amazing. I had Will and Garry and they moved out my one-bedroom apartment in a little under an hour (it took about 2 hours with another moving company). They were literally RUNNING from truck to apartment to save us time (and money). We were so grateful considering it was a 95 degree day as well. They were both super friendly and comforting. They took care of all of our belongings, wrapped them carefully, and needed little from us (they were familiar with both of the buildings as well). It is always awkward to just stand there while the movers are doing heavy lifting, but Will and Garry made us feel comfortable and was always checking in to make sure everything was okay. These guys did a great job with our complicated move. My boyfriend and I bought a house and needed to move from two locations, a condo and an apartment. We had a short window after we had closed and needed to move, and set this move up only about two weeks in advance. I thought we would pack up one location and then drive to the second to pack up that one, before going to the house. When I called WeHaul DC the manager suggested two separate teams instead and I'm glad he did. We filled out the form about the number of boxes and items and my BF and I moved some valuable items on our own. Both teams arrived on time at each location. One team had two movers and the other had three. At location #1, the movers had to move a valuable treadle pottery wheel along with a glass dining table. They were moved with great care. At location #2, the movers had to handle two flights of steps, took a number of requested items to a dumpster behind the building, and they had to park and walk across the street. Both teams arrived at the house and kept up the amazing work. We had our floors refinished just days before the move so we were very nervous about scratches. We had wool pads on nearly all pieces of furniture and the movers were very patient as we had to track down extras for some pieces. Overall, this team was fantastic. Everything was moved in within the time we had expected in the quote. Both teams were funny, kind, hard working, try to take the stress out of moving, and are extremely efficient. Probably the best move we've EVER experienced. Lived in the DC region since 1999...have moved at least 7 six times in the past 15 years. I've dreaded every move because it's always seemed impossible to find good, honest, efficient, fair priced and professional movers. WeHaul exceeded our expectations tenfold. Communication with Dave was prompt and to the point. I tend to schedule service calls and things like that via email so that I can avoid talking to slimey salespeople. Dave responded to my estimate request promptly and was straight forward about the pricing structure and services provided. I really appreciate that sort of "straight to the point" communication. I ALSO appreciate that i'm not being spammed to death by WeHaul as I am with the other companies I reached out to. Dave scheduled the moving team of Will & Manny to perform our move. Will and Manny are indeed the dynamic duo of movers! They called to let me know there were on the way...they showed up right on time and ready to get to work! No complaining, no hinting around for extra charges to tack on, no lack of energy... They were both very pleasant, professional, courteous and strong & fit enough to complete the task at hand efficiently. Fast and easy - highly recommend! I needed one mattress removed/disposed and this was the most affordable I found after multiple quote requests and comparisons. Since I only had the one mattress, one guy with a pick-up truck showed up - right on time. I offered to help move it to the elevator and loading entrance (he didn't ask me to) to make sure he didn't get lost in the building. I compared all the other sites like 800-junk, college hunks and local ones - all ranged between $85-$160 starting rate. The move was a breeze for me thanks to Dave and his team. They comforted me from the moment they met me and I could immediately trust them to handle everything with cool. They moved a 1 bedroom apartment in a bit less than 2 hours even though the second apartment had a long walk from the truck to the elevator. They were very considerate also asking me where I wanted every single item placed rather than just throwing everything on top of each other. These guys were great - I needed them to get everything done in 2 hrs, and they got it done. All the boxes and heavy furniture were packed in my rented truck efficiently and solidly so there was no sliding around. Would highly recommend them to others. They were about 30 min late, but when I called Dave he assured me they would be there soon. They negotiated my 3 flights of stairs easily and were very polite and professional. They used a nice trick with my mattress - set it up right so it would hold all the boxes in place and they wouldn't fly forward. But we needed rope to secure the mattress in the truck, so I had to borrow some from a neighbor. Next time I'll have some rope handy. read more

This is my first Yelp review, and I feel I had to write one because of the truly exceptional work these guys did. I was in a panic as the lease for my new apartment hit a roadblock, so I did not know my exact move in date. Finally when everything went through, I only had one day of overlap to move my stuff from the old place to the new. I called a bunch of local movers, and they all were either booked, or tried to take advantage of my dire situation by quoting completely unreasonable prices. Dave called me back within an hour and I had told him that I can only book the freight elevators at both places at an exact time slot. He asked for a general estimate of how many items I had, and said it was likely doable. I told him how important it was to be on an exact schedule, because I would not be able to use the elevators if we were late. Dave and his team arrived 10am on the dot, and immediately began the logistics process. Within 80 minutes, all of my stuff (2 bedrooms, large living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bath) were packed and ready to go. Once we got on the road, I started to panic, because traffic was really bad, especially on the key bridge. Once we got to my new place, we only had 40 minutes left on the elevator. Dave and his team talked for a bit and came up with an optimal logistics plan. I was skeptical, because essentially they were saying they would unload all those items in half the time it took to load them. Their plan was to prioritize getting all the stuff to the 13th floor (where I live) so if they didn't make the elevator deadline, the stuff would still be up there ready to move. Within minutes they began working as a perfectly in sync team, loading everything into the elevator as if it were a game of Tetris. 30 minutes later, the truck was completely empty and everything was on the 13th floor, ready to move in. This was a huge relief. After we were done with the elevator, they moved everything into the apartment, and put everything in its place so well. Not one single item was damaged (and I had quite a few glass top tables, so I was even willing to take a loss due to the added rush I asked them to move). The entire move took exactly three hours, this is practically unheard of given the amount of stuff I had. I have to give WeHaul DC the highest possible review. Never have I met a team so efficient, and one that works so well together. They take your time seriously, and spend every minute working as efficiently as possible. Not once did I get the feeling they were "dragging time" to get more billable hours. I will definitely be calling them next time I need to move places. read more

Just finished a great move with Will and Gary. They arrived half an hour early, but we didn't start until the scheduled time bc we had Salvation Amy picking up stuff at the same time. Gary walked thru my unit to see everything to be moved prior to starting. Once they started, they were fast. Will is a moving whirlwind. They had just about everything loaded in an hour. Slowed down a little when disassembling the bookshelf (which was a huge, overbearing monster of a unit) I asked to be hauled away. Minor hiccup, but understandable (and unavoidable) given the make up of the bookshelf. They were super efficient and skilled in mapping out how to fit and place everything into the storage unit. More than once I thought that some items wouldn't fit, but Gary made it fit!! I was also really impressed by the business prior to the move. Dave was very responsive. When I called to get a quote over the phone, he not only answered, but gave me a quote during our call. With other companies, I had to await a call back or fill out a form before receiving a quote. Also, they had the most competitive rates (of 4-5 companies I spoke with) and they were willing to move me from my condo to a storage unit. Not only that, but when I first set up the move, it was only with a few days notice, and Dave was able to accommodate me. Even when I rescheduled, he had space available on short notice. I usually find moving to be incredibly stressful, but WeHaul DC made it SO easy. I was only moving about 1.5 miles within DC so it didn't make sense to use the larger companies that had a higher minimum. WeHaul quoted me 4 hours to move a one bedroom apartment with two movers, but it only took about 3 hours so I ended up paying less than expected. There were no extra charges for blankets or tape. I arranged everything through email with Dave, and it worked out perfectly. Gary and Will (I think those were their names - it was a few months ago!) were my movers, and they were so professional, friendly, and calming. They arrived early, called me right at the time we agreed on, and were incredibly quick in wrapping up my furniture, taping up those last few boxes I didn't get to, and moving my things out to the truck. They even offered to pack up and move my flatscreen TV, which I had planned to move myself in my car, after they saw me trying to pack it up (my ill-advised plan involved a beach blanket and an Ikea bag). They of course wrapped it up professionally and moved it without any damage. When we got to my new place, they took the time to make sure I liked where everything was, and even moved a few large pieces after I changed my mind about where I wanted them. And I had them move two small tables that I later decided I didn't need in my new place, so they took those away for free. It really couldn't have gone any better, and I'm so grateful. This rating is sorely delayed, but I cannot endorse Dave and WeHaul enough. They helped us move apartments from the Hill to Navy Yard in December 2017 and were absolutely wonderful. Two people were supposed to come, but they sent three instead at no extra charge. They were prompt, careful, and speedy. I used We Haul DC this morning, and they were GOLD. They were hard working, courteous, kind, supportive and very efficient. Without them, I would not have been able to move today. Today everything outside of my movers had issues. My building did not keep the elevator locked, people blocked their moving van from going in and going out, it was down-pouring the entire move. When we moved into the new building, they would not let us use the elevators. That's the short list. Instead of the expected 10-11am job they had planned, they worked from 10-2, no complaints, and charged far less than what I could have expected. Plus they are normal, chill guys, who had the calm and composure and focus, that I lacked in the face of all of the problems we faced. This review is a little late (sorry), but late is better than never. Dave and his team moved my husband and I from California to DC. We had the good fortune of them being in California because one of their regulars was moving out there, and we were the lucky beneficiaries. The guys were diligent in both packing and unpacking, and always in constant contact with us.
