Saw a knock em out truck leaving Crest yesterday holding up traffic and swerving. Not to mention a beer can was tossed out of the truck. The only reason I know this is because I live in Crest and decided to stop on my way back up to pick up the filth. He was a heavy set man, wearing a hat, I couldn't see much else because I was in a hurry to work. I hope whatever trees that guy cut down weren't near any homes, for I fear the worst. These guys have some bad reviews, but I had a great experience with them. They removed 4 large palms and trimmed a willow tree. Price was reasonable and they came on time. They did the work only a couple of days after I contacted them. I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

On January 24, 2020, we agreed on a price and date for services, however, they never showed up. I called them that date and they apologized for the no show stating they would get to it the following week. It is now March and I still haven't heard back from them. Had high hopes for this business but they failed me. Called on 6/17 towards end of business day. I spoke with a woman that evening who told me the estimator would need to contact me following day to arrange for a time. He called as promised, but darn it, I couldn't take the call. He left a message, I returned his call within 30 minutes, leaving a message to please call back so we could arrange a site visit. Never heard back from the guy. I guess I had just 1 chance. Sigh... I have used Knock Em Out tree service multiple times in the last 6 years. I am a long time East county resident. They show up on time with an appropriate crew depending on your budget. They stand by their quote and are courteous.I have 200 Oak trees, Horses and difficult terrain. I'm on a creek with huge trees. They have removed limbs from over buildings and greenhouses without causing damage. You simply will not find better people. Because I respect them so highly, you will see other similar reviews I have written in their support. We need to support business that show up, keep their word, and honor their original estimates. I've used Knock-em-out tree service 2 times, once in 2006 and today11/2013. Both times they were excellent. I took their day rate for I had numerous large pines to cut down, lace and trim others, 8 palms trimmed, many other trees, and stump grinding. One tree was right next to the garage and nothing hit the garage. Very professional workers. Suppose to have 7 men but 10 showed up at 7:00 sharp and each one of them worked hard all day until 4:00, when the job was finished. Mark, the owner, is the nicest guy and very helpful. I stayed out in the yard the whole day and each one was very helpful, polite and went the extra mile to make me happy. Daniel was there to oversee the whole event. They cleaned up everything and my yard is beautiful. In between using them I have grabbed other tree services, that were in the neighborhood, to do small jobs and not one of them has given me the service that Knock-em-out has. Plus I had gotten two other bids for this job that were more expensive with less men coming and were only going to do half the work that I needed done, plus they couldn't stump anything out. One company didn't even have a chipper. I don't care for strangers on my property that is why I decided to call Knock-em-out again after 7 years. I received the same great service this time around. I would recommend them to all my friends, family and strangers. Top notch. read more

I just had 2 dead oaks removed. These people did a fantastic job. I've had other tree services and I thought they had done a good job. Didn't even compare with the job Knock-Em-Out did. They were friendly, professional, on time. They were very reasonable with their rates. Previously it had taken all day to remove one tree, they did 2 trees in just one morning. I didn't want the wood but my neighbor did and they cut it up into smaller pieces and put it on his property for him. The clean up job was fantastic-actually cleaner than before they arrived. One of the trees was very close to my house and one was right up against a fence. They were careful not to damage either structure. With the oaks dying left and right I'm sure I'll need others removed. I won't even bother to call anyone else. read more

This is an update to my earlier review, since the review Mark the owner contacted me and was very apologetic, he said he was unaware of the issue. I was never able to reach Mark previously as I only had my contact Chris' phone number. That said Mark sent a crew to come by and remove the left over tree stumps. This was the second time I had used them and I would use them again, but I would make sure everything is done before final payment. read more

Called for estimate to have 1 tree removed, the stump ground down and a palm tree trimmed. Robert recommended we have a "full crew" trim all of the trees so we scheduled it. They showed up early with only half of "full crew" because they were finishing a different job. The other guys didn't show up until afternoon and their truck was full. The didn't trim all of our trees, didn't trim the palm tree and said their stump grinder was being repaired. Left two big piles of branches in front of our driveway and in front of our house over Thanksgiving because the truck was full. When they came back to get the branches, Robert said they would be back later to grind the stump and trim the Palm. Never happened. Called several times but no one returned my calls. I would not recommend them, they make promises to get the job but are not an honorable company. read more

We recently used Knock em out for the second time. Their concept is that they bring a crew out for a day and charge $4,200- a large amount of money! They start at the front and keep trimming as much as they can in a days work. The day of the trimming I mentioned to the crew that the ficus hedges on the far right were very tall and needed trimming. The crew member who took my check assured me that he would pass this along to the crew. I came home and that area was not trimmed as discussed and the huge birds of paradise in the front of the house had not been trimmed at all and were laying on the roof. I called and left a message- no return phone call I called and left a second message a few days later- no return phone call I called a few days later and mentioned that they are sure attentive when you need work done but not when you are asking them to call you back after they finished the job. I finally had a call back that day. I mentioned that the ficus needed proper trimming still, the birds of paradise were never touched, they left their trash laying around, which my husband and I picked up. We even moved all of the pots back that they moved out of the way and did not return to their proper place but there was still one pot that was too heavy and they would have to come back to move it back to it's correct location. They said they would return next Wednesday or Thursday to take care of the birds of paradise. Of course they never showed. I called today and the owner back tracked saying "my husband never said the birds of paradise needed trimming and they didn't come the other day because the guys weren't even working and he can't pay his guys $800 to give us work we didn't pay for." I asked him why they said they'd come back if it was my husbands fault? I called back to let them know to forget it and that I'd pay someone else to finish their work since I never want them back at our house again. Don't hire these guys!!! They are happy to take your $4,200 but they won't clean up their mess or take your call after the check is cashed. The owner even sent me a nasty text. VERY PROFESSIONAL!!! read more

I used Knock-Em-Out over a year ago to remove several trees. I had been referred to them by a co-worker. They had the best quote of the 4 companies I contacted, and the best attitude! The crew that performed the work was amazing to watch. All 3 trees were right up against my house and I was very happy with the job they did. I was looking up their contact info today to have them back out and noticed they only had 2 reviews! I have never submitted a review before but these guys definitely deserve more praise so I am adding mine. read more

Hired Mark and His Crew to remove all existing landscaping including removal of (5) large trees and to lace (6) large trees we were keeping as part of a complete landscape change for our home in Carlsbad. The existing landscape was very overgrown without any maintenance for years consisting of Large palms, Trees and Bushes of all types. Well. what can I say except Great Job ! The lacing of the trees we were keeping turned out better than expected seemed like new trees. The crew was fast and effiecent and worked in harmony. In late July, my wife and I came home from being out of the country for over a week to find that a number of trees and bushes on the hillside behind our house had been cut down. In our mailbox was a note from a neighbor we don't know very well, with whom we share a fence on that hillside, informing us he planned to hire a tree service to cut some trees and said he wanted to cut some of the trees in our yard as well. When he did not receive a response - because we were on vacation - he went ahead anyway and hired Mark at Knock-em-Out Tree Service. Knock-em-Out didn't bother coming to my house to first ask permission before entering my yard. And no such permission would have been given, even if we were home. Instead, Knock-em-Out simply trespassed on my property and started cutting down trees and trampling bushes. I confronted my neighbor, and he gave me Mark's number. I called Mark several times and left 2 or 3 voice-mails before he called back. When he did, he was rude and combative, and told me the neighbor said it was fine to come in my yard, which was apparently enough for Knock-em-Out tree service. Finally, Mark changed his tone and said he would come by my house the following Tuesday to discuss fixing the mess he made of my yard. He never showed up.
