Considerate tree care came and did such beautiful work that now we will have to fix up our house to make it look as good as the trees!! They are experts at thinning trees, making unruly, overgrown and neglected growth look amazing. They know the right products to improve your shrubberage, trees, etc, and their staff is respectful, meticulous, a bit OCD neat, overall wonderful to work with. Joe has customer service like no other. He calls you back. He is polite and knowledgeable. His crew gets the job done without wasting time. We have 8 mature trees with our 50's-era home. He made sure to trim them all so that they can thrive, produce food, and not be a hazard. The best thing I can say for Considerate Tree Care is that if you have become jaded with typical San Diego customer service (ie. no call back, vague estimates, showing up late or not at all, and lack of expertise) then you are going to be delightfully surprised with Considerate Trees! Joe the owner was very knowledgeable and really took his time looking over all of our trees and giving us tons of expert advice! We had Joe out for a consultation as we have several trees on our property we have some concerns about and will need trimming. We have a big very old Jacaranda in the back yard that we love! But it needs a lot of TLC and it has fought off termites a few times. After a recent bout we wanted to tree assessed to be sure it was sturdy and to do everything possible to care for it so that it sticks around for more years to come. I just received a holiday card from Joe and his wife in the mail today, which made me wonder if I'd ever written them a review on Yelp... Joe has visited our house every couple years, gosh, since before 2000, I think. I wouldn't call anyone else to take care of our trees; he's organized, and friendly. I appreciate that he is always willing to spend a few minutes answering any questions/concerns I have. At one point several years ago he took out an elderly ailing peach tree for me, and when I told him I was really sad to see it go he suggested I have cooking utensils made from the trunk, referring me to someone he knew who could do that. What a jerk! He insisted on coming over for an appointment today. I was sick & I canceled going to a meeting to convenience him to come over to give me advice on a badly installed irrigation system. This was after I told him a few days ago that I did not want an appointment this Saturday as I had an all day meeting to go to. He shows up late. He has a soil probe. I had told him that would not work as I had been watering in the Santa Anna. He is asking me all sorts of questions about the irrigation system installed. I tell him that I cannot answer his questions as I thought I had hired someone who knew what they were doing and it is a mess. He demands that I turn on the system. Tells me he knows nothing about what had been installed. He demands that I shut it off. I tell him that i do not know how to shut it off but will attempt to walk into the water going towards me & figure it out. I show him what I can see on the next system and he tells me he can't tell anything from looking at it. He expects me to have the answers of what was hooked up where. Which I do not know. I am getting frustrated. He then starts digging into my potted plants and tells me that it is damp. I say yes, I told you it was damp I have been watering in the Santa Anna. He gets mad and starts telling me that my plants would not have died in one day of the Santa Anna & he cannot use his probe. He was mad that I watered last night. I told him that if he had rules I was supposed to follow that he should have explained them to me. He is outraged and tells me that I am an unhappy person, no charge, and goes to his truck sarcastically blowing me kisses and telling me to take a nap. I told him that I was an unhappy person with the lousy irrigation job that had been done, my voice is gong and he is making me repeat myself over and over again. He keeps saying you are an unhappy person (I sure was with his shitty attitude, asking me questions that I could not answer as to how the irrigation system was installed which I could not answer and yelling at me about how I should have not watered. Then being angry, sarcastic, blowing me kisses, and telling me to take a nap. Yes, I might have been taking a nap when I was sick and resting instead of standing in the sun being yelled at for not understanding what he was going to do when he came out. He was supposed to look at the system installed (all of it not just 2 of the 7 stations); tell me how to fertilize the trees, what kind of irrigation things needed. So sorry I could not tell you all about the timers that had been installed a few weeks ago; how long they could be set for etc. That was why I had hired someone to supervise the crew she told me was so wonderful only to have my drip irrigation system running down the driveway. I do not appreciate people who do not listen, get angry for me not understanding what they want of me without being told, then get rude, huff and puff then tell me I am an unhappy person for being treated that way, told to go to bed and take a nap and blow me kisses. Although a little more expensive than the others, it was worth it. They laid down tarps to collect all of the debris, trimmed the trees using a boom vs climbing spikes. Joe went to my home to give me a free estimate to remove two king palm trees in my backyard. After he looked at the location of the palm trees, he convinced me that I should keep these palm trees. Joe could have made money by removing these two palm trees. I really appreciated his honest opinion. Joe also talked about the importance of proper watering levels and fertilization strategy. I was so impressed by his knowledge that I decided to hire him to do a Professional Tree Health and Risk Assessment. Joe checked the watering levels in my front and back yards using soil probe. He showed me that the watering levels in my front yard were too dry. As a result, the head sizes of the 7 queen palm trees have shrunk and the tips of the leaves have turned yellow. The watering levels in my back yard were too wet. As a result, some of the Orange rinds split open and made the fruits inedible. I used to water my yards 6-9 minutes a day, 7 days a week. Joe asked me to change it to 42-63 minutes a day, once a week so that the water can reach at least 6 inches down to the roots. The total monthly watering cost remains the same. Joe's service didn't end with the home visit. He followed up with phone calls to answer any questions I had. I am really glad that I hired Joe to do the Professional Tree Health and Risk Assessment for me. He has saved my trees. I recommend him highly. read more

CTC Went above and beyond. they had the right equipment which included a cherry picker. in the past I would get people crawling up the tree and hack away killing it. Joe and the Considerate Tree Care guys are the third tree care service I've employed at this location. We have also used landscaping planning and maintenance companies. I was very pleased with Considerate Tree Care. In the past, tree care services have damaged outdoor furnishings and even taken fruit off our trees (normally I wouldn't care, but the bergamot tree has only produced 1 perfect fruit, and we didn't get to taste it!). Joe and his team were as concerned with our desires as well as what was best for the trees themselves. We were happy that he came out on a Saturday to discuss the work, since we both wanted to be there to talk to him. They were very thorough, working on bushes and vines as well as trees. They used a cherry picker truck to get up into the trees, which made it possible to dis-entwine wisteria vines from the trees they were strangling! First time anyone other than me has taken the time! They had to scope out the area to make sure they had good parking for the truck, but were concerned that neighbors were aware of their work and not overly inconvenienced. They even did what they could to satisfy my neighbor's concerns about my trees stretching in to her yard. The service was not much more than we had paid previously (we get the trees trimmed about every two years), and the job they did was meticulous enough to deserve it. Joe even did a final walk-through with me, and when I pointed out some plants that looked less than healthy, he had his guy go up and check to make sure they cleared only dead plant matter. My melaleuca tree was in great need of pruning and one root was growing along the front of the house. Considerate Tree Care thinned and shaped the tree so that it looks healthy and younger. They cut some roots and made sure no roots could get near the house by creating a barrier.
