I've been trying to get someone to install a bi-fold closet door in my guest bedroom for a few months now. I have yet to find anyone reliable. I have received quotes and exchanged messages on yelp and phone but no one has came to take measurements or tried to communicate. Its usually when I state I live in Cutler Bay that communication stops. I want anyone with a trade that is useful to treat all consumers the same. Whether I live on Star Island, Coral Gables, Homestead or Hialeah it shouldn't matter. If I ask for your services keep the same energy throughout. It shouldn't matter if a project is too small. Money is the same. Think about the little people.... we matter also. The thing about me is that I am willing to buy all the supplies if I'm given the measurements and what to buy. That's one less thing for a handyman to do. But not everyone thinks like me. *deep sigh* On the other hand....I get it though...being a handyman isn't easy because people constantly call you, projects that you thought were going to take 2 days ends up taking two months. I understand. I get it that when you finish one project the same people call you back for more to do. You make commitments but its hard to keep up, especially when you work alone. I'm an understanding consumer. My recommendation is get an assistant. Use your wife, children, family members, friends etc to write your appointments and answer calls. Buy a large calendar and write down your commitments. Utilize one day just for house visits. Download an app to help. But by all means.... Communicate! So my husband had to call them and the guy said he was still in Davie on another job. He said he would reschedule for today (thursday) and said he would be here at 11 am. At 11:20, there was still no word from him. So once again, my husband had to take the initiative and call the guy to find out what was going on. The guy was still in Davie and said that maybe he could get here this afternoon. It is now 4pm and we have not heard a word. Forget this company, they are a joke. We will work through Home Depot.

When we received no answer, we contacted Richard again via phone and he said he would get back to us to schedule a date. Several days later we received a quote and told him to proceed. He then advised us that he requires payment PRIOR to showing up to the job! We explained that we are a property management company located in Palm Beach and would need an invoice and proof that the work was completed to issue payment via credit card, PayPal, or check. (His choice) He again demanded payment in advance or would not do the job. After having been in business for 35 years in South Florida we recognize the number of Hialeah Hustlers and con men who demand payment in advance and never show up to the job. We offered to send a copy of our business license as well as a copy of the deed to the home to show proof of ownership but he still refused and demanded payment once again. At this point I thanked him for his time and informed him that we would no longer be requesting his services on any of our properties. He then called my cell phone and began ranting angrily and talking in hostile tones about threats. Not sure what this guy thinks he's selling or what he believes he has to offer over the 600 other pressure wash companies in South Florida but "Shady" doesn't begin to describe the ordeal we just experienced.
