It is very accessible from Portland and the drive there is beautiful, and when you arrive at your destination you immediately feel at peace. Brian and Linda do a great job of making you feel welcome. We brought our own snacks and had a picnic in the gazebo and enjoyed the view of the river, which is so wide at that point that it almost gives the visual of being at the ocean as ships rolled by. We stayed in the Hummingbird Room which has a very comfortable bed and a wonderful view out of the window. The rates are very affordable and include breakfast - Brian is a great cook and they offer several meal options. We added the firewood package and were so glad we did, as I type this I wish I could be back there next to the fire while looking at the river. They only have two rooms so if you went with some friends you would have the whole place to yourselves. This really is a hidden gem and I highly recommend making the trip while you can.

The home is only two minutes to the Oceanside beach and about 10 to Tillamook (no cell service at the house, but speedy wifi). Our room (Sea Mist) was private, very quiet save for the roar of the ocean in the distance, super comfy bed, and enormous bathroom with heated floors. The food was, if possible, even better than the lodging. Haystacks, waffles and yogurt parfaits for breakfast, apple cupcakes with cranberry frosting as an afternoon snack, chocolate covered strawberries - all homemade by Mary. Let's just say we didn't need lunch during our stay. Mary is an absolute delight - happy to chat with you over breakfast and offer local tips, or leave you be if you prefer privacy. She was also so sweet when my wife came down sick on our trip, offering late check-out and outfitting us with doggie bags and ice chips for the car ride home. And if you like dogs, Jessie the 16-year-old Wheaton terrier is always waiting downstairs and eager for a scratch behind the ears. We will most certainly be back!

Though I had to remember to be mindful of the ceiling height up on the loft and the stairs leading up, everything else was positive. I booked the stay on Expedia. On the day of arrival, received a text from host with House # and the passcode for entry. Checkout is the same way, just text bk your House # and name with time. Location was easy to locate, about 10 mins from Tillamook Creamy and 20 mins to Rockaway Beach. I was greeted by some wild deers when I pull into their parking lot. Their tiny homes each came with their own bbq grill on the front porch. In the back, there is a small fire pit for roasting marshmallows, very cute. The interior is clean and the kitchen came with utensils to cook a meal. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of windows for ventilation and their heaters kept us warm through the night.

Then he said he was not the person to check in with. He gave us the email of the owner and he allowed us to stay in the room until we got checked in. We laid down on top of the bed just to rest a bit. Little did we know that someone else rented the room on line and the owner didn't respond to our email. She came back to the inn and rented us a remote room in another building. Our mistake was not checking out the room before hand and just taking it. It was an interesting two story old duplex. Old as in interesting and quirky. I loved that it had a kitchen and couldn't imagine what it was like to live there back in the day. Anyway the bedroom is upstairs - very steep short stairs and the only bathroom is downstairs. As I am of an age where I need to get up at least once a night to use the facilities, I didn't feel safe walking down the stairs half awake. Thank goodness the couch was very comfortable downstairs. While checking out the space there was a door across the hall from the bedroom about 2 feet above the ground. We opened the door and was surprised to see another bedroom - there was a little ladder inside that would have allowed an easy climb into the room. Breakfast was in the main building, just help yourself to drinks or wrapped bakery items. Also yogurt and other goodies.

The entire inn has this warm, quirky, beautiful old-coast-house feel to it. Soft jazz is playing in the background, there are little sitting areas everywhere, flowers and trees all around the property, and you just keep noticing new things every time you walk through. Our family suite was a fully equipped kitchen. It had most things you would need to prepare a meal, but the breakfasts kept us full most of the day. Again, breakfast was wonderful. Liz has a menu to choose from on a daily basis. I ordered three different meals and wasn't disappointed with any of them. And the soaking. Absolutely yes. Early mornings with a cup of coffee and the coastal mist, or under the stars with a glass of wine. Soaking and completely relaxing was one of our favorite parts. Didn't hear the other occupants most of the stay, and the place was fully booked. It felt very intimate and warm, even with other guests. Salmonberry has personality and charm. It's not pristine, it's lived in, but it's lovely. The owners have put their heart and soul into that place; and you can tell. It doesn't feel manufactured or like every other place you've stayed. We absolutely loved staying here and would stay here again without even thinking twice.

Pam and David are the sweetest and most hospitable hosts, and their B&B truly feels like a cozy home. They collect really fun items, and each room has its own character and its own unique homey decor. The location of the inn is close enough to walk anywhere you would want to go out for dinner, drinks, or shopping. The best part of the inn (besides Pam's breakfasts - which always include the BEST fruit bowls) is most definitely their 13 year old chihuahua, Penny. She often makes an appearance after breakfast and steals the heart of everyone she meets. If you aren't able to use a tub with a shower handle (like the kind popular in Europe) to bathe, then I would suggest getting one of their rooms with a shower/tub combination. I loved having a clawfoot tub to soak in (we stayed in the Rose Room this time) each night while I read and drank a cup of tea. There is usually hot water and teabags or instant coffee available at all hours (freshly brewed coffee is available starting at 7am) on the stairway landing and I took full advantage of that amenity!

We had no issue driving through the park to our site. Site 31 has plenty of space around it since the access road is on the left and lawn and landscaping on the right. The gravel site was fairly level and no issue with the hooks ups. The Bayview from the site was a nice touch even being behind a couple of other sites. The park was peaceful & quiet during our stay. Garibaldi is an easy walking town with a walking trail right along the west side of the park. Our two night stay was priced @ $70nite. We enjoyed our stay and will return Harborview RV park if we come back to the area.
