It is a great location right on the beach. The office staff is super friendly. The place has ample space, is clean, and has plenty of areas to enjoy the views. Plus... the wild bunnies are an added bonus. You can have bonfires on the beach, and walk for miles along the beach. This place is very convenient because it has the best coffee house+bakery right down the street. It has a kitchen and a barbecue pit to cook meals, a full size fridge, and a couch and dining table/chairs. For what you get, and where you are, their rates are very reasonable. I hesitate to post this because I still want to be able to stay there... but it is a really sweet spot along the coast and others should enjoy it as well.

We stayed in unit #3 for valentines weekend , upon entry we were pleasantly surprised to see it…read morelooked nicer in person then in the photos. unit smelled musty so I opened the window to air it out then it was fine. the ocean front view was great had a large flat screen tv in the living room above the fireplace and comfortable couch, loved watching the bunnies in the yard and the people walking dogs down on the beach, fire place was nice for warming up. kitchen had just enough for cooking a meal for two, there were limited dishes 4 exactly and 4 utensils ,there is no dishwasher in the unit and bathtub was very small . bed was soft but comfortable, no tv in the bedroom, carpet in living room needs a deep cleaning. unit felt a little overpriced at 340 a night for the condition of this unit, but it is the best price I could find for a ocean front view in cannon beach for valentines. something that was not explained in advance is the parking spots outside are marked and you are expected to park in the assigned spot ours was a bit away from our unit, also the stairs leading up to the unit are narrow and steep was fine for us but probably not great for older people. Only the unit next to ours had access to the stairs leading to the yard which really bothered me the entire time not having access to the yard in the back, but it was a fairly nice cozy place to spend valentines weekend and it was quiet.

I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. The hotel has a very Victorian vibe with a hint of haunted house and I absolutely love it. Our room was beautiful! It was a little bit hot to sit in the common area room as it was about the upper 80s in Wheeler that weekend, which made the room pretty hot, but it was no big deal. Our room had AC. So many pictures to look at on the walls, a cute little gift shop when you check in, and the bed was so comfortable. Honestly, that's usually my biggest gripe at places is a super uncomfortable bed, this one was absolutely perfect! And the huge antique mall right next-door, we spent hours in there and found so many treasures ! Absolutely will be coming back!

It appears that it may be owned and/or managed by someone local--read that Vacasa bought it from Brian, the original owner, but that it was sold to someone else of late. Anyway, Angela is very kind and accommodating, the rooms are remodeled, clean, comfortable, you can actually cook in the kitchen, and your dogs are welcome here. Landscaping has been improved as well. Sand Dune is a comfortable spot that feels mostly like home.

They have a nice VHS, book, and game library. They also have bikes to borrow which we use so we can run our dog. There is the usual cable TV, coffee, fridge, microwave in the room. The rooms are very clean. The back of the motel has the cutest sitting area with nice chairs and grass to lay in, which we discovered when we had the "honey moon" suite. This place is so comfortable :)

My husband & I love the fact that we can open the sliding door & falling asleep to the relaxing waves. Even with PNW fall and winter weather, we fully enjoy storms watching from our own balcony. Older property & dated decor, yet well maintained to ensure you feel comfortable and relax away from home and short getaway. Walking distance to everywhere in town, you don't need to drive after you get here. The view from each room is beach facing. If you're on the ground level your back porch opens up onto the backyard with some picnic tables and a few stairs to get down onto the beach. I noticed that people set bonfires on the beach and enjoy them at night. The town itself is pretty quiet, most restaurants close by 8pm. It's well situated to the bay for crabbing, boating and clamming. The tv is big and has cable but it does not let you screencast or connect to it so if you want to stream, you can't. Internet works well. The bathroom is decent. Shower pressure is amazing and hot! Kitchenette is basic, but it has what you need if you want to cook a meal (just not fish or crabs or you will be fined!). The fireplaces don't work- those would be such a nice cozy touch if they did! The owner is wonderful and so helpful and fun to chat with. Bed was very comfortable with plenty of extra pillows and blankets.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience felt like paying more than $300 a night to participate in a humidity endurance challenge. There is no air conditioning, and the windows open just enough to remind you that fresh air exists somewhere outside. We had to leave the room door open and crack the windows just to make the room remotely comfortable. At night, our options were: 1. Close everything and slowly become steamed vegetables. 2. Open the windows and listen to the promenade's nightlife until morning. The soundproofing appears to consist mainly of hope. The room was also "surface clean," meaning it looked fine until you started using your eyes. The walls and doors had visible grime, the bathroom caulking was peeling up in several places, and there was some kind of mysterious yellow residue running down the bathroom door. I do not know what it was, and I would like to return to a time when I had never seen it. The fireplace did not work, but it did successfully take up space. The Internet cuts out so frequently it isn't worth it trying to connect to it. The shower curtain seemed morally opposed to keeping water inside the shower. The water temperature offered two settings: arctic research station and lawsuit. The shampoo and conditioner also left my hair feeling like it had been punished for something. The toilet barely flushed. You had to stand there holding the handle and encouraging it like a nervous child at a school recital. "Come on, you can do it. Just a little more." For this price, I did not expect to have to provide emotional support to the plumbing. There also appeared to be possible black mold on the bathroom walls and shower curtain, which really completed the room's 'indoor swamp' aesthetic. The room description advertised a full-size refrigerator in the kitchenette. We spent some time wondering whether the full-size refrigerator was invisible. What we actually received was a mini fridge smaller than the one in my bedroom at home. The room was also advertised as sleeping five people. Where would the fifth person sleep? The bathtub? The nonworking fireplace? Suspended from the ceiling? We only had two people, and even then I would say the room could realistically accommodate a couple with two children or perhaps two couples. Advertising it for five people feels wildly optimistic. Then there was the price. We booked through Expedia for $211 per night and paid the deposit. When we arrived, the hotel charged us $315 per night. When we raised the issue, the response was essentially, "We have nothing to do with that." Apparently the hotel is involved enough with Expedia to accept the reservation, but not involved enough to care when the price suddenly increases by more than $100 per night. Had we known the actual price, we could have booked a much nicer hotel with luxuries such as air conditioning, clean doors, accurate room descriptions, and perhaps even a shower temperature located somewhere between freezing and boiling. I also texted the hotel several times asking for help and received no response. The silence was impressive. We will never stay here again. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and easily the most expensive opportunity I have had to sleep in a hot, humid room while listening to strangers outside.

When we showed up the Desk clerk said that they were sold out and it was because of an Elks convention. Big Doug and found one room that was not taken, but it was not ADA compliant. At this point we had no choice but to take it because we were already there and it was too late to book elsewhere. I had a hard time with this room because it had a step over tub to take a shower, a toilet that was mounted low on the floor that was hard to get up from and the pressure of the shower was a fire hose and was not adjustable. The sinks outside the bathroom to wash your hands. The water got so hot. It burned my hands. I have neuropathy in my hands so for that to happen, it had to be incredibly hot. The microwave door was broken. We put something in it and could not open the door back up. They said maintenance to our room, which I have to say arrived quickly, but he forced the door open and said it had a child block on it. When he left, we tried to open it, and it wouldn't open i again. So are cup of water we were heating stayed with the room. This room was also above the pool. Between the party and the kids screaming in the pool till late at night we could not have our slider door open. It was way too loud. They booked the Elks convention in the two rooms next to us. They were screaming and hollering and partying till 1230 at night finally by 1 AM. People left and we could try to get some sleep. We complained about the noise in the front desk clerk, her name was Jennifer and was a delight, so she found an additional room that we could use because the one that we were in was already booked to somebody else the next day. We moved one floor up, but it was directly above the party. Still noisy, still fleet and was not appreciated one bit. The next day we checked out. I will not stay here again. If Jennifer hadn't been so helpful, we would've demanded our money back. So kudos to her and i to Ebb Tide!
