Heard great reviews of this place so had to give it a try. The cashier was so friendly and there was a regular customer who told us that anything and everything is amazing. We got the AAA flank steak, classic fried chicken, and classic poutine. My favourite was the fried chicken which was crispy and juicy and the honey gave it a sweet touch. My friend's favourite was the steak sandwich because of the char flavour. The standout was definitely the poutine - the gravy was so flavourful! A friend took me here. I ordered cubano. Toasty crispy bread. Yummy pork filling. The chopped pickled on it brighten up the flavor (perfect pairing). Tried the beef steak as well (which is the reason why my friend took me here). It was good, but I think chimichuri (in general) doesnt sit well with my taste bud. Fast service. This is my local sandwich shop, first time i came here the staff were so friendly and attentive I thought I was at an expensive restaurant, I was caught off guard in a good way. Tucked into a small neighborhood street, this burger/Sammie shop boasted such good reviews I had to try it! We were visiting from out of town and wanted some local cuisine. We stayed at a hostel down the street. The parking was so easy as it was right in front of the business. After 6pm on a weekday it's free so it was really easy to navigate. Our server was great and was so friendly. They had a busy day and ran out of poutine, but she was kind enough to ask the cook if he could make a last batch with whatever they had left. What a hidden gem along Coxwell. They have a wide selection on their menu, and I went with the classic buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. It did take a bit to get our food, around a 20-ish minute wait, but we were fine with that, and the server was very apologetic. It was a good portion given the price, and I can taste the quality ingredients in the sandwich. It was definitely messy to eat, but that's what ya get with coleslaw in it. I also love the chipotle honey in it. Overall, good food and good quality. I will be back to try out all of the other sandwiches. read more

A bit pricey but good portion size and good quality. The chicken sandwich had a generous amount of meat (versus bulking up with the breading) and a nice tangy sauce. After our favourite Cuban sandwich restaurant, closed last year, I missed having a good Cubano. If anyone ever saw the movie Chef, with Jon Favreau, they might recall this famous restaurant in Miami, The Versailles. This was the place, in the movie, where Chef Carl Casper, finds his passion, in these sandos. We had actually gone to this very resto in Miami, years ago, where I also discovered this wonderful Cuban street food. So what has this got to do with this place - EVERYTHING! We have tasted many restaurants version of the Cuban in the GTA and to be fair, not one of them, so far, has come close the the Versailles in Miami, until Knuckle Sandwich. Ya, ya, you might think the ingredients are pretty basic and "plancha" is where the magic happens, but I disagree. The pork shoulder, the ham, the Swiss cheese and sauces and pickle are where this all happens. The "plancha", just seals the deal. It is all about layering flavours to achieve this harmonious balance. THEY NAILED IT! Now onto other goodies. the smash burger was delish and perfect in every respect. the fees were hand cut. I did find them a bit too seasoned for my taste and will know to order them unseasoned next time. The service was terrific too. My only ask, is to please bring back the Po' Boy sando in any format. Quarantine Day 5: Would you ever buy yourself a knuckle sandwich? I did. Two of them actually. Luckily they did not hurt and they were tasty. The flank steak sandwich had really good quality meat in there. Could have definitely held its own on a salad. The buffalo chicken sandwich was a big behemoth. It was a tad bit spicy for certain bites but the pickles and the lettuce helped cool down. The chicken was still crispy after delivery which was awesome. The salads were surprisingly tasty. I think I could have eaten an entree salad of either one. The candied pumpkin seeds were crunchy and added the right amount of sweetness to the salad. The last side that we got was the poutine. Most of the crunch had left the fries by the time it got to us. It was still a solid poutine. The gravy wasn't too salty and there were a lot of cheese curds for every bite. Walked in and looked at the Menu board, had a difficult time deciding. Even though the menu is limited there is a good variety and multiple combinations of items to choose from. The cashier who happened to be the owner, George, was wonderful in explaining the menu items and helping me choose. Hubby and I had the following: Fried Chicken Sandwich - This is a massive sandwich! The chicken hangs over both ends of the bun. Nice and crispy, crunchy batter and the chicken is tender and juicy. You definitely get your money's worth with this one because you won't even need any sides to get full. I cut it in half and ate it for dinner later and the outside was still crunchy. Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich - They cook the roast beef rare then dip it in the au jus which cooks it all the way; it's on the bland side. Next time will ask for the au jus on the side so the bread doesn't get soggy. Should also order a side of one of their aiolis (basil, garlic, chipotle) and or use their Sriracha ketchup. Butternut Squash Soup - owner said it had a Thai twist. Savoury and delicious, you can taste the coconut milk and ginger. Kale side salad - if you like kale (hubby hates it) you will love this salad. The paper thin, crispy prosciutto on top was scrumptious! Fries with Sriracha ketchup - weren't oily but a bit dry, the Sriracha ketchup really helped make it a tasty side. Owner, host, server (same person) and kitchen staff were hospitable, sweet and attentive. Warning: the street in front is a very busy street and the only way to park is diagonally and head in. I would recommend coming with a friend to help you spot cars while you back up, or take the bus. We went there last night because of a craving for a sandwich. The place didn't disappoint us. I had the fried chicken sandwich with spicy buffalo sauce and the g/f had the shrimp po-boy. The chicken was cooked nice and tender. The buffalo sauce gave it the right amount of heat. Not too spicy but not that weak either. The shrimp po-boy was very tasty too. We also ordered the tots and Danforth fries. The tots were crisp yet still soft on the inside. The Danforth fries was a nice mix of flavours added to nicely cooked fries. I ordered the steak sandwich and its supposed to have chimmichurri in it. Couldn't even taste the chimmichuri. Chimmichurri is supposed to be very garlicky, oily, herby, sometimes spicy, a bit sour... I couldn't taste it at all. The sandwich was a bit too dry for me. We ordered the chicken sandwich too. It was very crispy, but I wish the chicken was more seasoned... kinda lacked the salt. This too also kind of lacked juiciness. Maybe more sauce on the buns? Maybe it's because I took the sandwiches home? Ate it 10 mins after receiving it? But its shouldn't be that way. I've had taken home food from places like this before, it really shouldn't be this way. The only saving grace was the french fries. It was good. This place is so low-key and super easy to miss, but when you stumble upon it, it's really magical. I'm sure all the other sandwiches are delicious too, but this review is going to focus on the fried chicken sandwich, which is simply marvelous. Imagine a giant piece of well-breaded chicken, topped uniquely with poblano slaw, chipotle honey, and garlic aioli. Then go and try what the sandwich tastes like compared to what you thought. Great spot on Coxwell near O'Connor. Everything is made in house -- sandwiches, salads and some great sides. Lots of good looking local micro-brews on tap. Friendly staff who really know their fare. Pretty casual -- you order from the board, pay, and then take a seat. They bring it out to you when ready. We had the Chicken Sandwich -- so flavourful and topped with a great slaw! Hubby had fries and I had the tater tots as sides (talk about a blast from the past and great!). They make their own ketchup and have a spicy version too which went great with the tater tots. The food was great quality and I totally recommend if you are looking for a more casual lunch. Today I took my youngest, Gabby for her 24th BDay because she wanted a good sandwich in my area. We ordered the Cubano for and the Steak for me with fries and gravy. Grilled cheese - for $6 the grilled cheese is huge, and I found this delicious as well. The cheese was nice and melty and wasn't too sweet. The bread was thin. I did enjoy the grilled cheese. It tasted great. Fries were tasty and not too salty. We enjoyed all the items we ordered. Wait time is at least 15 mins but the wait is worth it. I get that might be a healthier verison of sandwich but i dont know it was the arugla, the sause or pickled onion that bothered me the most. My girlfriend suggested this place the other night.. We don't live in the area, but seeing some of the reviews on Yelp, and the post from BlogTO, we wanted to give it a try. And I'm really glad we made the drive out to this place. I had the porchetta sandwich topped with a fried egg and a poutine. Btw: the portions are very generous! Tons of meat in the sandwiches. So much that the gf was getting full after just 2/3rds of the way through her brisket, so I happily took a couple of big bites to help her out (though, I'm pretty sure I saw her give me some cut eye as I did... She really hates sharing when it comes to good food) The quality of the ingredients was outstanding - you can really tell they put a lot of effort into getting the taste just right. The first time I went to Knuckle Sandwichn was closer to when it opened, before they changed their menu. At the time I had the Porchetta sandwich and got an egg on top. It was great. Any sandwich with an egg on top is great. Well, as long as it's a runny egg. The menu has changed since, and the Porchetta is no longer on the menu. I like that they are a sandwich shop that switches things up, so I don't mind. I think the fried chicken sandwich has always been on the menu... This time I got the butter milk fried chicken sandwich. It was a pretty delicious sandwich. I would get it again. The sandwiches might be a little pricer than some other sandwiches in the area but they are definitely a good size. I'm feeling full and I didn't even get a side with it. And if they are using ethically raised meats than it all adds up. Speaking of sides, I am curious to try their poutine as it looks pretty good. The restaurant is casual, has a fair number of tables and seats for individuals or small groups, with a few bar stools by the window. A large wall menu is on the right as soon as you walk in and you order/pay first and then sit down for your food to arrive. Went in 7ish for a bite to eat after work, picked up an Arugula salad for the wife and I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and basic Poutine all to go. The large salad was $9.00, opened the box to find there was some Arugula leafs with around 5 small pieces of goats cheese and maybe the same amount of walnuts, the salad dressing was....well....lacklustre, overall, very disappointing . The Shrimp Po boy had a lot of fresh veggies in a toasted bun, however, I know why it was Po, they only had shrimp placed on the edge of the sandwich and they were very bland. Finally, the Poutine, I saved the best for last, great fries and gravy, again, could have used some more cheese curds but the overall taste was excellent.
