We came here thinking it was similar to the Urbana location but was unpleasantly surprised when the food didn't match the "high end" vibe. Paid $60 for 2 bland rolls of sushi that felt like they were sitting out for the whole day, a 4 piece plate of chicken wings, 1 miso soup, and 1 drink. Felt absolutely down bad leaving this place wishing we just went to McDonald's lol. Staff were nice though, unfortunate the food wasn't. read more

The sushi is excellent! I only wish I could have tried more of the options. It's fresh; the rolls are well designed (lovely combinations!); and the plating is lovely. Even though we were tucked away in what felt like an overflow room, the service was prompt, courteous, friendly. As is always the case, sushi is a pricey option. But we knew that going in. The food was great, but the owner was WILD. She was screaming at employees until they were near tears. The atmosphere was nice, but that really threw me off. The server was super nice, but she seemed pretty put off by the owner. I'd probably eat here again, but if the owner/manager is reading this: treat your employees kinder! What a wonderful thing to dine outside on a wide, well landscaped avenue. It was a 90ish humid day, but the tables are mostly shaded by tall buildings, and a light breeze was all we needed. COVID-19 precautions, yes, servers masked, and plenty of distance between tables. Tried four cocktails between us, and all were good, with a special nod of appreciation to the White Dragon. Only three stars for food, service and ambiance. We keep going back to Kofusion because we still like their Flaming Phoenix, and the Tiger Roll is pretty good. There aren't many places we trust to get sushi in CU, and that is the issue. We really miss the old location with its aquarium and the beaded curtain. We believe that the value is not what it should be. Just check out the current size of their salmon sashimi pieces. It is roughly a quarter of what you typically get in a sushi restaurant. Underwhelming! This restaurant is expensive, yet feels cheap. The sterile ambiance and lukewarm service only add to the sadness. read more

I did not have a great experience at Ko Fusion. The last impression is the lasting impression! I treated my 70-year-old mother to a meal with 5 other guests. We made reservations ahead of time on a Friday night. The wait staff was great, but the management or hostess team pushed us out the restaurant after an hour. They said they need the table for other guests. We barely finished our meal. They started clearing our table and wiping it down before I finished my drink and making preparations to leave. They did not consider that my mother has a walker and on oxygen. I have been to Ko Fusion two times prior without incident, but that experience has sealed the deal for me or any my friends and colleagues from every coming back. The feeling of pushing guests out of your establishment says a lot about how poorly you run your business! read more

UGH, I love this place! First of all the aesthetics of the indoor interior is beautiful, the service is nice, fast, and friendly (shoutout to our waiter Mitch), and the food? Delicious. Great quality sushi. I ordered the fruity mimosa, the cheese curds (for a starter) and the "Spider" for my entrée. Everything from the main meal to the Champagne was delicious, and our waiter was so sweet he made me trainer chop sticks, because I was struggling big time. Visiting from Seattle to see my mom...Heard great things about this place, so we ordered out. I ordered the "Spicy" pork belly ramen, my mom ordered the vegetable stir fry with noodles. I picked up and the entrance was very nice and the hostess was great. Got home, and my ramen was all in one container, which meant there was literally zero broth left, it was all soaked up by the noodles. Imagine, expecting a delicious $26 ramen dish and finding there was no broth! GTFO. On top of that, the dish was completely bland. I ended up adding Sriracha and Gochujang, just for a sense of flavor. With that said, if pre-ground black pepper is your level of spice, this place would be right up your alley. Additionally, this was the absolute toughest pork belly I'd ever had. I had to go running for a dental pick immediately after eating. What the hell? $46 for this? A proper restaurant would give you the broth in one container, the noodles in another container, and the toppings in a third. For example, in any Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle Metro (which you can practically find on any street), you get everything separate, which leads to an amazing experience. We have this Mexican Birria place that has a Birria Ramen... You get one quart container of broth and meat, then in a large Styrofoam container you get the ramen, chopped cilantro, pickled red onions, and jalapenos. You get home, reheat the broth, mix it together, and bam... You're wondering where Mexican ramen has been all your life. My mom very much enjoyed her vegetable noodle dish. I tried it, and it was meh. You could "taste the wok", but that was pretty much it. No salt, no spices, no flavor. There was zero personality to the dish. Food is just not up to the quality that is advertised, and the prices are more expensive than most sushi places you'd find in Chicago. I got the Chirashi, which on top of being more expensive than the listed price on the website, also had substantially less food. The staff is not very knowledgeable of their own policies. We drove an hour to get to their restaurant calling before we went there and when we arrived they told us they stop serving an hour before they close. We had placed a reservation on the staff's approval and left our name number and eta and gave us the okay. But when we arrived they wouldn't seat us. Whatever staff member said that to us was gone. Our first time before we had a table I slipped on a slimy floor and broke my heel. Not the best luck at this place. Food IS pretty good! Which is why we tried to come back. Always a great restaurant to visit. We location is awesome, with the downtown Chicago vibe, in a gorgeous building. Good was amazing as always. Big roll was great as always, we also had a volcano roll, delicious, and a crunch roll, yum. Also got some pork dumplings, which were excellent. They have their own gated parking lot. Nice touch. Friday 02/25/2023: Drove 45 minutes because we have heard how amazing this place is. As we were walking up, we were incredibly hopeful that there were 4 or 5 open tables seen through the window. As we walked in there was a crowd waiting. We told the hostess there is 2 of us. She very impolitely snapped back " we are not taking walk ins tonight" I looked over at the bar that had a couple empty seats and asked if that was open again very angrily she said "no". I get you're busy but don't be rude. She just looked at me like she hated me and everyone in the world. Maybe choose another line of work then. I have been going to Kofusion for years. One of my favorite sushi places in central IL. When I was in college the best day to go is during dollar sushi day so you can go try all the different options. Which is also a extremely affordable which is always a plus. However if you don't go during dollar sushi roll day. Their prices a very reasonably priced and the rolls are well worth the trip when your in the Champaign area. I love all the rolls but my top favorite is Volcano Roll, Chicago Roll and the Big Roll. I highly recommend you try this restaurant. read more

I got this app just to write a review... if this doesn't show how awful the service/food is then I'm not sure what does. Please never go here - there are probably 100 places next door or a few blocks down that are not only cheaper but probably give you the service someone would typically want at a restaurant. The owner is horribly rude to the employees as well as crazy to customers - hanging up on purpose multiple times and absolutely rude to every customer wanting a table even telling people their outfits were not fit for their high quality restaurant. WHAT?? I have never seen such a disservice at a restaurant and I hope they take their customers seriously in the future... as well as employees. read more

The apps we ordered were A-OK, but nothing stellar: veggie and chicken potstickers and edamame. For my entree, I ordered a couple pieces of toro sashimi (new to the menu!), which is fatty tuna, and it was deliciously fatty and not chewy at all. I have always enjoyed the food at KoFusion, but I liked the ambiance at the old location better. I've made friends who work there and am definitely known as a "regular." I had a reservation for 5-6 people at 4 pm on Valentine's Day. Everyone thought they could be there by 4 pm, but it was closer to 4:30 when 4 of us ordered drinks. We were told around 4:50pm they had reserved about 80 minutes for each reservation that night. I was neither told this the night before when I made the reservation, nor that night when I was seated. Only once we ordered cocktails and were not rushing to order food, we were told we only had about 30 minutes left. Now, of course, I understand that Valentine's Day is a busy, busy night at restaurants, and we would not have lingered if people were waiting. However, we should have been told the night before that we had a limited time. We started at 4 pm so we would have plenty of time. We hardly ordered anything so we would not be rushed and left abruptly. We went somewhere else downtown, and we're welcomed with open arms, with no rushing and no waiting. There are now 5 people who were regulars at KoFusion who will not be going back anytime soon. The owner often interferes with our regular favorite and extremely experienced waiter, removing menus too soon, asking if we have everything we need, and taking away things from the table she 'thinks' we don't need. She is rude and butts in while we regulars, who I am certain she recognizes, dine at KoFusion with our favorite waiter. The wait staff are all great, and she only interrupts and confuses things when we are eating there. I don't know what kind of control issues she must have to follow around her most experienced staff and interrupt our service. The food is great, the new decor is very cafeteria like, and the owner is rude. 5 people will be avoiding this in the near future. read more
