TREADMILL move. Armando was one of the first to respond to my service request and Koa was able to come out the very next day (which was a holiday). He sent a team of 3 men, which is exactly what was needed to move the 200lbs. + treadmill from a second floor bedroom to the garage, by ways of a corner turn stairwell. The team worked well together and was very professional. They dismantled the top of treadmill so that it could fit through the bedroom door. They wrapped the treadmill and stairwell banisters with moving blankets, and carefully moved the beast to prevent damaging walls. Once in the garage they put the treadmill together again. The job overall took 2 hours. Will I ever recommend placing a treadmill in a bedroom...heck NO! Why ruin your fengshui? I went from a 4-person household to a 2-person household so we were moving to smaller digs, but most of the 'stuff' was coming with us to the new place. Less manpower + small car = big stress for me. I had never used a moving company before, and after reading through the various reviews I was dreading the hassle, headache, and cost that everyone complained about. Enter Koa Moving and Storage. Armando responded shortly after my initial inquiry, and scheduled an in-person quote for the same day. The quote was quick, and he even advised me to do as much as I was able before the move to cut down on the cost of the move. Buying my own packing materials was fine with him too. We confirmed the date and time, and he called me the day before to confirm that they were coming the next day. Moving day came, and Armando showed up with 3 young men (I can't find the paper that I wrote their names on, sorry guys!). The quote Armando had given me was for the 3 movers, but he stayed for the day as well! I wasn't nearly as packed up as I had hoped, but they got to work and things went smoothly the whole day. Everyone was very professional, polite, and friendly throughout. I will say that after the move, I noticed a few minor damages here and there, but I figured that there will always be some wear and tear when moving, even if I had done it myself. All in all, everything was packed, moved, and placed in the new house and I was allowed to get started cleaning the old place. I was pleasantly shocked at how close the total was to the estimate! I have worked with Koa Moving & Storage 4 times over the last 2 years. These guys are pros. Each and every experience with this company has been stellar. They were always on-time, respectably and professionally dressed, polite, detail oriented and unbelievably patient. Finding this reliable, professional, honest and dependable moving company made one of the most stressful experiences (moving after 25 years) of my life almost pain-free. The peace of mind you get from working with courteous, experienced professionals is priceless. They have the expertise to package and move any item safely without any damages to your new location. I moved the contents of a 4-bedroom, 3-bath home and not a single item was damaged or broken. They completed the entire process in a timely manner without compromising on quality. I also hired Koa to move a giant refrigerator from an older residence in upper Manoa to my residence in East Oahu. They had to remove doors from both the appliance and the home on both ends and carry the refrigerator up and down a very rickety stone walkway in Manoa. They did an absolutely amazing job and at a reasonable cost. Koa's professional moving coordinator provided a free, detailed, honest, up-front estimate on what their service would cost and the time my move would take. No hidden costs with Koa. Their hourly rate was very, very reasonable and the total cost for the move came in under the estimate. That does not happen very often. Given the quality of the service I would gladly have paid more. Koa Moving & Storage has all required insurance coverage (including Workers' Compensation), industry certifications, and Department of Transportation and Motor Carrier numbers. This is not always the case with less experienced and reliable companies. Additionally, Koa has reasonably priced storage services available while you complete the move to your final destination, during a renovation or (in my case) while staging my home for sale. Their storage facility is climate controlled, has monitored security and is safe from theft. They will also handle packing your belongings into containers for overseas or mainland transport. Really great to have and allowed me to focus on the other details of my move without worrying about the safety and security of my personal possessions. Thank you for an awesome job! My experience with the company started well. The owner was very responsive and accommodating for the time we needed his services. We paid for a four-person crew for our three-bedroom/ 1500 sqft move from Mililani to Ewa Beach. However, that warm and fuzzy feeling for the company quickly took a turn. The men arrived on time, but the truck they came with was not large enough to fit all of our things which led to them having to make two trips. A survey was taken before our move, so I didn't understand why they had come unprepared. My husband and I had pre-packaged most of our home minus some items we had used the night before our move, a trampoline, and bed frames. In total, it took them over 12 hours to complete our move. On each trip, my husband left with the movers to allow them into the home, and every time, my husband waited over 20min for them to arrive, which raised suspicion. There was no reason for them not to have arrived at the same time as him. The men working together were armatures; they did not work cohesively at all! There were so many dings and dents in the walls of our newly constructed home. An essential piece to my all-glass dresser is broken and irreplaceable due to the type of glass coloring. That's not all! Upon unpacking our things, we discovered that we were missing our Hypervolt massage gun, and the money in our coin jar had been removed. I contacted the owner to report the theft, and his response to me was to file a police report. I then proceeded to ask him for the name and contact information of one of the workers who left the job before completion. The owner's response to me was that he did not work there anymore and didn't have any information for the man. Which made me believe those were undocumented workers. $1800 for mediocre service, broken furniture, and stolen items. I sat on this review for a minute because I just wanted to wash my hands with the situation. However, we recently made another move and it triggered this nightmare of an experience I had with this company. We had a three-person crew pack, label, document EVERY piece of our furnishings, and it took them no more than eight hours in total. All of our items we accounted for on an inventory sheet and packaged to perfection. The staff were paid, PROFESSIONALS and eased my phobia of moving companies. I hope this company has improved on their operations since then and I wish them the best. read more

I moved to a high rise in Waikiki and they were familiar with the location, had one of the elevators commandeered for our use and asked where to place items in my apartment. Let me start off by saying that if I could give this company 10 stars I would! From the start when I requested a quote through Yelp Armando responded immediately and scheduled an on-site evaluation. He showed up on time of the scheduled date. Unheard of in Hawaii. Mind you, I was getting quotes from several companies. 2 did now show at all at the appointment time both with lame excuses. One of those rescheduled but the other blew me off completely. Armando was so kind right from the beginning and I just overall had a great vibe. He emailed a quote within 24 hours! Again unheard of!! I did have some questions as a couple of things were confusing to me (this was my first major move on my own!) but Kathy quickly replied to my emails and answered everything and put me right at ease! After getting quotes from several companies ranging from $1200 to $7500 I was baffled at the huge difference! I wasn't even moving any furniture!! It was mostly clothes, shoes, etc. Well Koa movers weren't the cheapest but they were very affordable and I really wanted to go with my gut! I'd rather pay a little bit more and go with a growing company than go with the cheapest and feel nervous the whole time! The day of the move the team showed up right on time! I had been crying my eyes out and was drinking wine at 9am! This was scary for me! I asked them not to judge. Well not only did they not roll their eyes at me but Armando gave me hug and talked me off the ledge! Lol. They got right to work and 18 years of my life was packed and gone in a little over 3 hours! Several times after Armando texted me asking how I was and let him know if there was anything else he could help with! I was still in shock by how smooth this all went! My shipment was due to arrive in California in 30-60 days. Well another shocker! In less than 30 days I got a text saying that my shipment would be arriving the following week! Wow! That was FAST!! Now I had to find a storage facility quick! Lol. The drop off went smoothly with the only drawback being that the delivery guys were 45 min late. Not that big a deal. The rest went well the boxes were all still in excellent shape and everything was there! Shortly after the drop off I got a follow up text from Armando asking how it went. I said it went great except for the 45 minute delay and what did he do??? He sent me a Starbucks gc to apologize for the inconvenience!! What?!! I said it before and I'll say it again; if I could 10 stars to Koa Moving, I would!! Communication is key in a situation like this as well as kindness and everyone at this company is epic at both! I have been active duty military 19 years now which has required me to move more than 10 times. I'm no expert on moving however I have experience with several moving companies in the past. If you want a company to preform a pre-inspection, tell you your date is good, then cancel on your expected move out date (UNPROFESSIONAL) a week before you move (UNRELIABLE), then this is your company. The company never notified me that my date was cancelled, I contacted Armando (Koa Moving employee) to confirm my move out date and was told they were all booked for the next two weeks. My move was small, to a short distance so if you're not looking to spend $600 plus on your move this is not your company. I wish you all the best of luck with your future moves but this company gets two thumbs down! To reply to you, Armando, at the pre-inspection you said the week I wanted to move was good and you would email me the quote. When I didn't hear from you in a week, I finally contacted you to confirm the date and price. A better business practice would be to follow up with your customers on what you say you will provide. Payed our building to reserve the elevator from 1-5, movers were supposed to be at our house at 1. We called at 1 to see if they were on their way and they said they'd be done with their other move in 2 hours. By the time they were actually done it was almost 4Pm, so we would've missed our move-in window at our new building. We had already told them our time frame and if they couldn't make it, they should have let us know ahead of time. Very disappointed. And it said on the confirmation MOVE TIME: 1-3, NOT arrival time 1-3...it should probably be more clear on the confirmation. We were NOT informed that we needed to make a morning reservation in order to get service on time. FIVE STARS! I used Yelp to solicit estimates from five moving companies. Koa got back to me within THIRTY MINUTES! I waited for all five to get back to me, and Koa had the most competitive rates for our move. I called Koa and scheduled our move for the following day (!). On the day of the move, Koa's dispatcher called to let me know that they would be arriving in about 30 minutes. Four movers came and were incredibly professional and courteous. Andres, the captain, walked me through the moving process and all of the paperwork. He was THE BEST. Incredibly thorough, detail-oriented, approachable, and responsible. The movers were all efficient - even though they get paid by the hour, they all worked really quickly. They packed up the house and took really good care of the furniture. Used Koa, contracted by Hawaiian Shippers, for our move from Hawaii to Nevada. What a huge mistake. After Koa showed up to load our boxes, that we had packed ourselves. They charge us about an extra $1,000 dollars for a few minor packaging materials and packing fee to protect a few paintings. Once they left we noticed they had forgotten a few items. A very high end gaming computer and a painting that I painted in Art School many years ago. We contacted Koa and a mover came back to retrieve those missed items. He assured us that he would personally place them in the container with our other belongings. Told us there was nothing to worry about. All of our possessions would arrive safely in Nevada. What a bunch of crap. Nothing but problems after that. Ultimately, when we did receive our items in Nevada. Guess what? No painting and no gaming computer. We contacted Koa. Did the respond like a reputable company to take care of an error. No No No. they wouldn't even return our calls. Do not use this company, or Hawaiian Shippers, you will regret it if you do. THEY SUCK. In response to their response: It was your employee who picked up items left behind. The items he picked up are the same items that didn't arrive in our shipment. Why avoid calls? Why haven't YOU contacted Hawaiian Shippers about this? Hawaiian Shippers a "reputable company "? What a joke. All of my comments are accurate and true. We have moved numerous times and have dealt with plenty of companies, Koa is by far the best, EVER. Every person on the team is diligent, moves quickly and efficiently and gets it done. The first move was out from POD #1 which my Mom and I oversaw as my husband was off island. This was a last minute call to Armando as we didn't think we needed it, but I opened the grate and realized it would go MUCH faster with more sets of hands. They did not hesitate when I needed things removed or put onto high shelves, in the attic, turned around, etc. If I needed any help, they were on it.
