Every dish was flavorful and well-prepared, and the honeydew boba was made with fresh honeydew. It was really refreshing and delicious. We ordered from Beijing House on O'Connor and I 35. I our past experience the had very tasty, authentic Lo Mein amd other traditional items from the menu had always been very satisfying and tasty. Tonight however the food was inedible. The Lemon Chicken had a sour smell and chewy texture. The Shrimp Lo Mein was dry, chewy and bland. Both dishes looked and tasted like the had been sitting under heat lamp and microwaved. One again NOT THE DELIVERY SERVICE ISSUE the food was delivered in a very quick, timely and professional manner. We reached out to the restaurant regarding the food and were told it was not their problem since we ordered through a delivery service. The delivery service was obviously not to blame for the quality of food. My son drove to the restaurant to attempt to get fresh food or refund. The manager at the restaurant was horrible and kept blaming the delivery service. M6 son called frim 5he restaurant to have me talk to the manager as he was not getting any resolve. We finally convinced them to replace the food. It was the exact dry, chewy blame noodles and the shrimp had zero flavor. I wouldn't ever opt to visit here unless it was the absolute only option, otherwise, drive a bit further and go somewhere else. If you stick to the basics and you're not picky, I suppose it could satisfy (fried rice, lo mein), but it's nothing special. Their cream cheese rangoons are terrible - and it's pretty hard to mess those up. 95% fried wonton and 5% filling. Not worth the price. Kid tested. Mother approved! Shared an order of the Sweet and Sour chicken with Lo mein and an egg roll ($8.99 lunch/$11.99 dinner) with my little one last night (dinner) and I also ordered myself a Summer Roll ($6.99) since I'm not a big fan of fried foods. The egg roll was brought first and it was hot and delicious. Cut it into thirds and gave my little one some with the duck sauce. Little one ate it up as soon as it cooled down. During that time, my spring roll came out. Little one asked what it was and was hesitant to try it but I explained that it had fresh ingredients like cilantro, lettuce, cold vermicelli noodles wrapped in a rice paper, along with fresh shrimp and perfectly seasoned pork that and we dip it in the peanut sauce. Gave him a bit of the peanut sauce first and saw his eyes light up as he tasted the familiar peanut butter taste that most kids love. Mix that with the fresh spring roll and that kid took more than two big bites out of my order. Thankfully, the sweet and sour chicken meal arrived and he immediately started digging into the Lo mein noodles that were not dry at all (nor were they greasy, either) before moving over to the battered chicken and the bell peppers (his favorite) while completely skipping the sweet and sour sauce (it was really good though). In the end, he ate three of the generous sized pieces of chicken along with most of the Lo mein noodles before his little tummy said "all done". My husband finished the leftovers when we got home and loved it way more than the usual sweet and sour pork that he orders at other places (this place doesn't have S&S pork but the chicken more than makes up for it!). Service was great. Open seating and they brought out our waters quickly and along with a high chair for my little one. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. Prices were very affordable. Portion size generous and you definitely get your money's worth. I ordered weeks in advance, paid 2k in advance, included a $400 tip and I picked up my own order, even though we were nearly next door. We agreed on 11:30am and had it in writing. 12:06pm and I'm still sitting here waiting for my order with 150 hungry employees expecting lunch, and still missing 3 pans of food. We will never do business with them again. I promise to come back on here and leave an honest review on the taste of the food after my employees eat and see what they think. It was a generous portion of rice and the chicken was cooked well however it lacked in flavor. I tried the sauce they provided that seemed to be a mayo based sauce and it had flavor but not something I enjoyed eating with the rice. I chose the egg roll, it was crispy and tasty. I was very excited about trying Beijing House as I've driven by it a jillion times and today I finally turned in. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced and bland. That is never a good combination. I had the orange chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. Calamari and eggrolls as appetizers. Companion had pho. -Calamari: Obviously frozen H‑E‑B brand breaded calamari. It tasted like over-baked fish sticks. There is no way this was made fresh. The sweet and sour sauce that accompanied the calamari was ketchup mixed with something else I could not quite put my finger on. Terrible. -Orange chicken: Tasted like breaded chicken with Salsa Valentina poured over. Maybe it was called orange chicken because of the color but it was more red orange, like Valentina. Not even a hint of orange flavor or citrus. Awful. -Fried rice: They must have fried it with water because that's what it tasted like. Not even a vegetable mixed in for color. Dreadful. -Eggrolls: Not bad. Especially if you love them stuffed with too much cabbage. Mediocre. -Eggdrop soup: Seems to me that eggdrop soup is one of those things that's hard to screw up. The folks at Beijing House gave it their best effort. It wasn't bad but all the flavor (salt) was at the bottom. My last spoonful was comparable the Dead Sea. Disheartening. I did something I usually do not do and I sent my orange chicken plate back and informed the waiter that I won't be paying for it as it was not good. He took it to the back and hopefully threw it in the waste bin. An alternative was not offered by the wait staff and I was OK with that. My companion said the pho was very good. Good portions of meatballs and brisket. It smelled really good. Something worth mentioning that I witnessed on my way back from the paper towel-less restroom is one of the waiters was blowing his nose in the small room where the ice machine is, blowing it into a handkerchief, and then placed the handkerchief back in his pocket and then went back to serving plates. He didn't wash his hands or even use sanitizer, knowing that I watched him and probably made a horrified face. Thank God he didn't bring us our food. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back there ever and will continue to drive by that place knowing I'm not missing out on anything. read more

When I entered I was told I could sit anywhere I like. I grabbed a booth and a waiter was prompt in providing a menu and taking my drink order. My waiter wasn't very friendly but he was prompt, attentive and accurate with my order. I ordered off the lunch menu and selected the hibachi chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. The food came out quickly, was hot and quite good. Checkout was fast and accurate as well. Overall, a good option for Chinese food but I will say I felt the price was rather high considering it's the lunch menu and for what I ordered. Tu our waitress greeted us and asked for our order. M asked about the order size. Tu said since it was after three, they only served dinner size. M ordered chicken and vegetables, I ordered house fried rice. The restaurant started to fill with the dinner crowd. The wait staff stayed busy with telephone, pickup, and table orders. They were busy! Our entrees, spring roll, and egg drop soup was delivered hot, by an older gentleman. The egg drop soup was excellent. The vegetable chicken sauce had too much ginger for M. The waiter offered to exchange it for another dish. M chose spring roll and egg role. Both were very good. The fried rice was mild but good. Service was excellent. Selected by my wife's sister as a place for hot pot. I'll give them props for being very generous on their portions. Not being a hot pot fan, I opted for the kung pao chicken, which came out almost immediately. The flavor was OK, though there was way more zucchini in this dish than I could eat. The zucchini was kinda odd in the first place, but it tasted OK. The hot pot eaters were all very satisfied with their meal. To end the meal was one of the best fortune cookie fortunes I have ever read: "About time I got out of that cookie." We laughed for several minutes. If we are back in San Antonio and craving hot pot, we won't hesitate to come back (and I'll once again order something else, maybe I'll try the pho). PS. I will never return to this restaurant. I was a regular customer but no longer. My bill was higher than normal, and when I asked the server for my bill. The server told me to go to the front cashier. Again, my bill only had the total with no items on my bill. $53 for P1 for me and a combo plate for my wife to go. Something still didn't add up, so I asked for the itemized bill. I was charged extra for the sauces to put in my Pho (p1). I was never told of extra charges, and it's not posted in the menu anywhere! I totally feel ripped off. The person at the cashier told me the cost for Siracha is high and has to charge extra. This place has everything from thai to Vietnamese to chinese. I had pho. It was pretty good but had a clove cinnamon taste. That's fairly common but not my favorite when it has it. This place is NOT good. 1. The vegetable spring rolls were flavorless and over cooked 2. The Thai Tea was waaaaay too sweet -disgusting if we're being 100% honest. We took 1 sip and sent it back for water. 3. Service was extremely slow 4. The girl at the register asked why we sent the tea back and got offended when I told her we didn't like it. She wanted to go back and forth with my husband and I about what was wrong with it, trying to convince us that it was "good". When I finally got fed up with her and said it was "nasty" she could've cried. This place is not at all worth the time and hassle. My recommendation: Drive another 2-3 miles to PhoStar on Pat Booker. Aaaawwww...what's with the lack of love for Beijing House? On a recent outing to San Antonio, a friend and I met up with some other friends who had relocated to SA. I find it ironic that people complain about the menu being too big and diverse. Really? Morons. That's like complaining that the portions are too big or that the prices are too low. They have a mix of Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and a small Thai selection. I found myself drawn to the Bun Bo Hue (#132). The description reads... "Vermicelli noodles w/ pork portion, congealed pork blood, pork patty & beef brisket" ...I'm not sure what a 'pork portion' is, but I sure do recognize everything else! What it fails to mention is that it's all in a spicy lemongrass broth, served with a plethora of fresh vegetable condiments, and could possibly feed a family of four...all for $7.95! The noodles weren't vermicelli, but really...who cares. This soup was delicious! There was a pork knuckle in the soup, as well. I'm guessing that's what the 'pork portion' was. It was a delicious bundle of slow cooked porky connective tissue. (drool) My friend ordered the sesame chicken and was rewarded with a massive plate full of perfectly cooked breast chunks. Most sesame chickens I've ever tasted have been sickly sweet and disgusting. This was a fine balance of sweet and spicy chicken mounded up on the plate with rice and fresh broccoli. Her complimentary egg roll was perfectly fried. Egg roll was full of gingery ground pork and fried so well, that there was no residual grease. Excellent! ...I digress.
