Honestly the best Greek food I've had. I tend to believe most gyros generally taste similar but there is something "extra" about the gyros at Koble. The restaurant is a bit on the small side so you may run in to some longer wait times on weekend evenings. The restaurant itself is very modern and has always been clean in my experience. It was a fine atmosphere. The process was a little different: they seated us, explained that we make our decisions and then go up to the counter to order. You can order your first drink at that time, but if you want anything else, you'll have to open a tab at the bar. The food was edible. It wasn't terribly exciting. The Village salad with chicken was in fact tasty. The chunks of cucumber, tomato, green peppers, and chicken made for a light but filling salad. There was too much dressing and too much red onion. This review is for location in Powell not Westerville. This low star rating is for service not food. The food we all ordered was quite tasty and came in a timely manner. The service we received was inexcusable. When we walked in a woman was counting a register and we all said hello and she counted on. Never greeted us, continued to count money and add it on a calculator. Finally looked up and asked if we were ready. No warm fuzzies here . When we left we passed seriously 6 workers not one thanked us or wished us well. We went at a down time so none of said workers were doing anything but talking to each other. The place is beautiful and if you want a drink the bartenders were at least chatting people up but if you just want a Gyro...Greek Express is every bit as good. read more

First time visit. We were impressed. The ordering is a bit different for a nice restaurant with high quality food. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. Next time i will specify to bring appetizers first, because everything came at once. We had the hummus and the koble combo. That koble combo had 4 lamb chops and two sausages. Who ever heard of 4 lamb chops in an appetizer? They were done to perfection! Husband got the steak which was the Sunday special. It was huge and easily best steak we ever had. We have visited the Powell location twice now, excited for something new in Powell. First, we were quite put off by the concept: they seated us at a table in the back, only to explain that we had to go back up to the front to place our order, then over to the bar to get a drink. HORRIBLE concept. Also annoying, I had to enter the tip at the front register before I could experience any kind of service or food quality! The restaurant is pretty, and the food is decent. However, the concept and service are lacking! The second time we visited, the bartender was completely rude and defended making a martini completely WRONG!!! Casual but stylish contemporary vibe and excellent gyros and moussaka. I am not a fan of moussaka but I ordered it for my father who offered me some and it was great. I am not an eggplant fan because in moussaka it gets soft, but the consistency here was great and flavorful in a large portion. They have windows that open onto State Street which gives it that cafe feeling which is hard to find in town. We decided to have lunch at Koble Grill. If you do not sit at the bar you have to order at the counter then find a seat. They will bring your food to you. We sat at the full service bar. The Bartender took our order of Spicy Chicken Gyro and Spicy Gyro. She immediately recommended the garlic sauce for both. The Gyro did not come with any sides but she said one order of French fries would be enough for the two of us which it was. Both Gyros were meaty and had lots of vegetables. The garlic sauce was a nice touch. I tasted a hint of feta in the sauce. If you do not like feta I'd recommend not getting the sauce or getting it on the side. We have been twice now and both experiences have been poor. The panini I ordered was meh and my husband's was sent back. It took every bit of twenty minutes to get the attention of the bar girl to even begin to order our drinks. When she did acknowledge us we made sure to give her our order right then and there for fear it would be another twenty before she returned.That was our first experience. Our second was for drinks only (we have decided this is a drink only spot). It was 2 hours before close and most of the staff congregated at the bar and were quite loud. Last night's meal at Koble was underwhelming. Had a Greek salad with salmon, which did not have much flavor. I am used to this dish at the Mad Greek in Whitehall, which is very flavorful and satisfying. My cocktail was pretty good; they were out of the first cocktail I tried to order... the warm pita bread was good. If you want a meal you don't have to wait on the bill payment, this place would work (you prepay at the register when you order, then the food is brought out to you). But honestly the setup of this restaurant is confusing and frustrating... we ordered an appetizer of the calamari, my husband got an Italian panini, I got the Italian salad, my son got the kids Italian pasta, one soft drink and one beer and came to $50. Our food came all at once. The calamari came with a garlic sauce which was good - but you don't get enough when sharing and when we asked for more they said they had to charge us for it!) I've been to each location, Westerville and Powell, and can say both restaurants are beautiful, the food is pretty good, the employees are nothing to write home about, but the concept these owners have implemented has got to be the most absurd concept I've ever seen in fast casual dining, Chipotle is fast casual, you don't have to wait to be seated and then go stand in line to place your order! It is irritating to pay over $100 for dinner for 4 people, only to have to get refills on drinks by waiting in line all over again. And to top it off, both locations actually have installed a top of the line POS system, which would allow a server to place orders from each table on a hand held device. If they want to be fast casual, they should lower their prices, and allow people to sit where they want. If they want to be a more upscale restaurant, ditch the counter and hire some actual servers. read more

Well I seem to have forgotten to review a visit back when they were new, but the good impressions remain. The local aspect, the decor (which I call nicely restrained Pintrest), the staff and the food keep Koble on my radar. While the counter ordering and self serve drinks (unless you are seated at the bar - but nice try) may confuse or simply not appeal to some, I have found it to be a fairly intuitive and nicely balanced system. It helps that staff members I have encountered are friendly and check in, clear away plates often. My first trip with the boyfriend was focused on the pasta options. Though I do not recall the names of our selections I can say both were quick to arrive and portions were decent in size though they could have been hotter in temperature. We enjoyed them. More recently, I returned with a friend for gyros. We went traditional and were pretty pleased with the meat, veggie and sauce ratios. Sides are a la carte so we opted to share chocolate and lemmon cake slices. They were fairly good, but I kinda wondered if they are store bought. With all our catching up, we appreciated the chance to haunt a table (they were not too busy) and not feel as if we were keeping a server hostage. All in all a nice place to try. Tip: When it's warm, aim for a window table to watch Uptown go by. But avoid the draft in the winter! read more

I haven't had the food here yet (ordered togo)- but I'm questioning the beer tap line maintenance. The glassware isn't very clean and certainly not polished. Zero bubbles - not sure if it's the glassware or bad line maintenance - looks like headache town to me. It seems maybe ownership isn't focused. First let me say I'm not a big fan of how you order your food here because I quite literally watched many people bypass the order here sign and just sit at a table looking quite lost. They utilize the European way of ordering. Since there are no servers you have to go back up to the front for drink refills which is somewhat off putting. I've learned if you sit at the bar you can order and get refills from the bartender. By the way if this rating was just on bartenders I'd give Emily five stars she rocks. The decor is really awesome nice combo of brick wood and metal. I ordered the Italian panini and the portions are super generous. It had great flavor with salami pepperoni ham banana peppers onions Italian dressing and mozzarella with fries. You can choose lemon potatoes but I'm not a fan of lemon in my dishes. The fries are pretty pedestrian and seem like they are the frozen variety so just meh. My friend ordered the seafood flat bread and she enjoyed it immensely. It has smoked salmon shrimp calamari onions peppers. She said it's a bit salty because of the smoked salmon but she likes salty. I definitely want to go back and try some more items and I'm definitely going to sit at the bar again as those at tables seem so baffled and confused. I'd give it four stars if the fries were better or three and a half if we could give halves. read more

We had the spicy feta, hummus, and tzatziki plate as an appetizer - all 3 are good but the spicy feta was my fav. Our table of 5 tried the following: village salad with grilled chicken, Italian panini, chicken melt, gyro, and portabello panini. Everything was delish and 3 of us had took leftovers to-go. Just had lunch there. I do gluten free and their idea of doing gluten free is to substitute rice pilaf for the pasta in those pasta dishes. Duh. Rice pilaf can also have wheat in it. But since I do not have Celiac Disease, I did substitute rice pilaf for the pasta and had Venus Chicken Pasta but with rice pilaf. While the serving was ample and the taste was okay, I was not impressed. The chicken had sort of a chewy texture and I encountered a few bits of grizzle. While it was okay, it was not worth the $12 I paid for it. I did take some home and could probably have a light lunch with the doggy bag. Also, there were a couple flies that would not leave us alone. And I got jabbed by a stray piece of wood that was sticking out of their wooden wall. read more
