Being charged an extra $1.50 for ice in my drink is outrageous! Just regular ice, not a block or ball. The same ice that came for free in my water! Just charge whatever you're going to charge for the drink. We could have accepted that better. It wasn't even worth our time to dispute it because we were just ready to go. Please just take the calamari off the menu. The sauce it comes with tasted like straight mayonnaise. It was rubbery and tasteless, along with the other food ordered. Why ask how you want your burger cooked if it is going to come out well done anyway? No one was rude to us like others have experienced, but I can say our waitress was not very attentive. We had to constantly flag her down when there were only about 8 people in the entire establishment. In town for a minute and I decked to stop at Culebra Cigars Company. Attached is Jimmy V's and was told I could smoke on the back deck, enjoy my cigar, a beer and some food. Got a nice cold draft and Apps. Twisted Feta and some fried shrimp. Asked to toss the shrimp in Buffalo which they were happy to do. Service was great and food was very good. Twisted feta was delicious and fresh. I think I missed out on some good menu items so I will return later for dinner. Must try!!! read more

I'm surprised at the overall rating for Jimmy V's Grill & Pub. I thought the food was pretty good. I would recommend the pub burger. I just wish the portion was a little bigger. I also would have preferred fries over the pub chips. I didn't like that you couldn't substitute the chips for fries. I also don't like the fact that it's right next to a cigar place. That's kind of gross. As another review mentioned, there was only one person working but she seemed very friendly, attentive and competent. It is more of a bar than a restaurant but if you are looking for a local spot for a drink and something to eat, this could be a good option. read more

Jimmy V's is an okay local bar. It has several locations around Columbus. The Grandview one is all right. It has a full selection of liquor. The food isn't all authentic Greek but it's okay. It bills itself as a bar and Greek grill. It does have gyros and hummus but most of the rest of the food seems to be of the greasy bar kind. The hummus appetizer is very good though. It's about $5 for the appetizer. The food isn't nearly as good as the cocktails. If you like greasy Greek you should go to Jimmy V's. It has some of the greasiest. So, before you read this, go get you a drink and or use the restroom. I hate to cook anymore. With three different tastes in the house, its difficult to satisfy the taste buds of the two females in this household. To keep monotony down ( and me from cooking) we headed out again for dinner. So, when we sat down, the place was covid spaced and we were sitting front row , center stage just behind patrons at the bar. While we waited on our food by enjoying a tasty beverage (Hefeweizen), we were watching probably the worst strikeouts on getting a lady. this guy played every angle, and was met by a retort stopping him in his tracks. When i food arrived, as i gazed upon my option, barry white started playing. There is something about an egg on a hamburger. When the meat is perfect, and that egg is perfectly sunny side up, the crushing of the bun causes the egg to burst and run down all over it. We went here for some place new and to check it out. The food was alright nothing to shout about. Waitress was nice and friendly. We most likely won't go again. Seemed more like a bar than a restaurant. The parking was around back in a lot that is in need of resurfacing. There is also on street parking if you can find it. The sidewalk along the side of the building needs replaced. The front entrance is wheelchair accessible and to the tables was fine. The bathroom stall in the Men's room is not wheelchair accessible. Yet it still retain local pub ethics and style at its locations. This street-close 5th-by-Northwest branch is no different. There on West Fifth Avenue east of the railroad in that old area with buildings close to the street swinging midcentury signs and have boarded up theatre ticket boxes. The space is small really, but clean and inviting. It introduces itself with an easy-going environment. TV, a old but typical style bar counter, table seating orbit around. Americana icons posters are, rather without a good eye, slapped on the wall. A place to enjoy paninis, that grilled ciabatta bound sandwich from that other Mediterranean country of ancient lore. Out of Jimmy V's choice of six I selected the Cuban. ($9.99) The fushion of cuisines here caught my eye; the order was affirmed by my bartender who complimented the dish her favorite and orders it everyday, her favorite of the menu. House braised pork sholder intermixed with applewood smoked ham kicks this stuffed grill with juicy energy. The cheese, imported Swiss, wonderfully keeps pace with the stuffed meat. Add the bread, pressed in panini style, the sweet & spicy pickles, and the spicy mustard and you have a happy hour meal that meets the standard of Greek's, Italian's, and Cuban exile's standards. It was good and goes on my Friday HH list of possible eats. Draft beer selection is limited and mainstream. Service was done well by the one bartender. Jimmy V, though finding itself forgotten in the coming and going of restaurants, pubs, and styles is still a good pub that mix well with the neighborhood reveries. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! They have an amazing variety of pub food, with a diversity of flair and range of flavors I've never seen anywhere else. So hard, I couldn't cut or bite thru it. Had to take it off the sandwich. The slice of tomato was from the end, it was hard & mostly green. Had to remove the the tomato from the sandwich. Living in the neighborhood, I have become a frequent visitor. Initially, it was a place to go to meet a group of friends. The booths are large and there's enough space between them and the bar for standing room if desired. Eventually, it turned into 'the date place' during the week. It was familiar to me but novel to seemingly everyone else, so gave the impression of being connected. Also, it's a great place for a beer or wine (aka accommodating for a casual or nicer type of night, depending on where you want it to go). Show off your ordering skills with these three recommendations: 1) saganaki opa!-flaming cheese doused out with lemon juice 2)hummus-not your typical greek style hummus. The guys give it an Albanian twist 3) the gyro platter-you will appear classy using a fork to eat your gyro and will easily avoid the common tzatziki squirt with every bite of the hand held version. Jimmy V's Grill & Pub has gotten back on my dining stops recently (YR 2018). This is because a recent stop there friends of mine and I had wings (delicious) and spinach salad (very good) were ordered. Our server who is also a beer-tender (Kristen) was funny, prompt and good at customer service which helps a great deal. I returned and enjoyed the Portobello mushroom with mozzarella pita sandwich w/chips - Wow! So very tasty. The outdoor patio will be my next visit with the Spring/Summer 2018 weather turning into warm evenings. Inside is smallish but likeable. Give Jimmy V's a try. read more

Moscow mules are perfect here! You can create and pick your own. If you're into sports, this is the place for you! They have several tv's and all seats have a good view of at least one of the tv's. I first remembered you when a friend and I wanted to try something different for lunch, maybe point and laugh at the spring game, and do a little day drinking. I suggested you and she agreed. We parked outside your rear-end (I realize this point of view is starting to get a little dirty but I've committed and am sticking to it) and gazed longingly at your patio wishing the weather was not complete bull crap. We seated ourselves snugly in one of your booths and found you had cheap drinks in the middle of a Saturday. And frosted glasses? And what's this? Your menu isn't the usual dribble of pub food and half heated nachos that feel like you're chewing on a moist paper towel? Color me impressed. I ordered the caprese panini. My friend the veggie gyro. Shoving your food into our mouths was I must say, one of the more enjoyable events of our rain soaked afternoon. I plan to re-enter you again and again until I grow tired of you. Jimmy V's, Jimmy V's, Jimmy V's, Jimmy V's...you've done it again..ruined an easy touchdown by dropping the pass. Eating at this place is like watching the Browns. One week good, next week bad. First off...coolest wall in any bar around. The "dining room" has a wall-length metal waterfall that is awesome!!! Almost makes up for the "inconsistency" of the food. I have had just about everything on the menu at some point and should know better than to stray away from the usuals. Albanian Pasta..excellent, panini's....solid, greek salad.....quite good, Everytime I stray from the standbys I am disappointed. My gyro plate was the very tips of some old gyro meat fried in some old oil and dumped on the corner of an otherwise good looking plate of pita and veggies. Just bad. Another at our table ordered the Gyro Omellette off the brunch menu...breakfast at Jimmy V's was a risky endeavor that didn't pay off for her. The same greasy fried gyro tips were in her omelette, which looked more like scrambled eggs than an omelette. As far as the bar, its a nice meeting place with good beer selection and a fairly classy northwest centered clientele. Got my Stella on tap and friendly bar staff. Jimmy V's is a pretty good spot to go for dinner, grab a beer and salad or sandwich, maybe watch whatever game happens to be on. The bar area is pretty cozy with big booths or there's a separate dining area (which I have never sat in). It's never very busy but there are always people there, which I like. Parking is okay, there's a tiny lot out back that will fit maybe 6 cars, but the surrounding streets are usually pretty open. The food is actually really good for a neighborhood bar. The menu takes a greek/mediterranean lens (think gyros, Avgolemeno soup, flaming cheese, etc.), but also offers some more Americanized fare like Paninis, Phillys and Burgers. All sandwiches come with chips or you can sub fresh-cut fries for around $2.50, a little high for a side in my opinion, but good nonetheless. The salads are pretty good - I like their greek salad with gyro meat and tzatziki as dressing (around $10). Happy hour runs until 7 I think, where all cold apps (hummus, spicy feta dip, tzatziki) are half off. BEWARE though, they will charge you for extra pita (and you will need more with the dips). It's only like $1.25 or something, but still... c'mon, kinda lame. The bar has your typical offerings, as well as some rotating craft beers. They always have a beer of the month, which is usually a decent bottle for $2.50. Wine is also very reasonable here, their cheapest offering being $5 a glass. Located on the same block as the Red Door tavern, Jimmy V's proves to be another quality community tavern. While it is situated a bit off the main strip of the awesome Columbus suburb of Grandview, it is nevertheless cozy and quiet. While it was a little bit hot for the patio seating, the patio areas looked attractive and comfortable. Inside, the atmosphere is pretty darn cool. There is a room with some awesome marble type floors and wall murals. The bar wall looks like an old relic. We were greeted with professional but not overly friendly service. But can this place talk the talk and walk the walk? It turns out that the answer is a resounding yes. The menu is quite promising and does not seem to disappoint (at least on today's visit). There is a wide selection of Greek salads, Gyros, Sandwiches, Burgers and Dinner Entrees all at very reasonable prices. Today, I ordered their tradition Greek Gyro. At a base price of 6.50 it blows away most Gyros that are found at a similar price range elsewhere. The meat is cooked well and is high in quality. However, it would not have hurt to have more feta cheese. Nonetheless, I was left with a refreshing aftertaste. My friend's burger looked ample and appetizing (the way a burger should look in a tavern). The 8 oz patty was substantial looking and toppings were not sparse. Overall, my friend was quite satisfied with the taste and well nourished after a great meal. With both our meals, we decided to upgrade to some French Fries that were reminiscent of those found in the state fair (greasy but with character). Unfortunately, we did not try the bar. Overall, though, Jimmy V's proves to be a cool name (and more) for a local hang out. In fact, I prefer Jimmy V's to the more "established" Red Door down the street as it is less dingy. I like Jimmy V's - they have several locations around the city, and darned if this one was open on the 4th of July (thanks to the staff there for working the holiday)! We hit the door to find the bar full up, and took a low table in the bar area. There are enough beers on draft to satisfy, and the heavily-Greek menu fits the bill when you're either starving for carbs or going for a protein-packed salad. Of course, this time I ordered the Cuban sandwich to be contrary. It was darn good. There were the loaded lemon wedges, too - who knew kale was awesome when smothered with lemon butter and tzatzki sauce, the dusted with feta?! We were greeted as we walked in and our server filled us in on the happy hour pricing for orders before 7pm Happy hour prices included beer and wine and cold appetizers. I ordered the imported Macedonian cabernet and my spouse ordered a craft beer, both from a nice selection of choices. The wine was priced well and tasted good enough for a second. We also chose to split the tzatziki with veggies and pita, perogies and boneless wings. All the sauces were house made and very good and I recommend the perogies. I was really suprised how much I enjoyed the food here. The service is extreamly slow, the servers all pretty scatterbrained. My husband and I were about to get up and leave and just knock it as a bad experience but since it was already after 1pm we were more than ready for lunch and didn't feel like looking for something else to eat. We were sure they would get our order wrong or it would taste like crap. Haveing lived in Europe we were sure to not find a good or even descent gyros sandwhich and while it was not authentic, it was the best we have had here to date! We got 2 traditional gyros and just to be safe my husband had ordered a burger. We were told they are out of hamburger meat (very strange) so he got the philly instead. That turned out to not be nessassary since the gyros was very good, as well as the chips it came with. I loved the tzatziki, fresh and garlicky, maybe not the best idea for a date or like me for lunch where you have seriously kicking breath the rest of the day! I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant and immediately fell in love. They have a great mini patio outside to enjoy your meal and drink(s). The atmosphere is great with a warm pub feel, with a modern twist. I ordered the Italian panini sandwich with a substitution of sweet potato fries, which was well worth it! The sandwich was large and I even took home leftovers, which is usually a rarity! If you can manage to hold a martini glass without spilling it everywhere, I encourage trying the spiked lemonade, peach flavor... a little hint is if you ask for it in a tall, regular glass they will normally knock a few dollars off. This is helpful since most of their shelf drinks are a bit pricey. I recommend trying this place once, and ordering a panini :) read more

The food was ready shortly after I reached the establishment and I headed home to eat it. The sweet potato fries were clearly overcooked, could tell visually before confirming with a few bites. The burger was a decent size but just looked thrown together. A heap of beef, cheese, and pulled pork. I took a bite and quickly noticed nothing juicy. I took the bun off and to my dismay there was no bbq sauce! It is a bbq burger, where is the sauce? I feel like this could have just been a mid day loss of focus (the place was almost empty), but flaws are flaws. read more

New Years Day unexpectedly went to Jimmy's with Mitch and Joanie. It is a nice, laid back, fun place, to get a nice bite to eat in Grandview. My New Years Resolution was to not eat Chicken or Red Meat, so i had the Salmon with vegetables. It was EXCELLENT. The dill sauce fresh with just a hint of tang. The vegetables were a medley of red and green peppers, squash, and onions grilled to perfection. I loved our waitress. She even went the extra mile to find me a 614 magazine because Mitch has a spread in it; that Joanie had not seen yet; unfortunately it wasn't the new issue. I consistently have pleasant experiences here and at the German Village location. Most recently I ordered the Greek salad, and it was great. There's just something so satisfying about iceberg lettuce over-soaked in dressing. We ordered the flame-cooked brick of cheese, which was tasty, exciting and dangerous, which is a very fun combination in a restaurant. The server was very attentive, and kept our beers a-flowin.
