The Avgolemono was creamy and super flavorful, bread was moist and warm, the chicken in the Greek salad was juicy and flavorful, and the falafel was fresh and delicious, with a little kick, which I'm a big fan of. This was the big surprise: I normally don't like the Greek salad dressing that much so I get a bunch of tzatziki. I ordered the side of tzatziki. It was a little too sour for my taste, but added a really nice compliment to the chicken. The surprise was the dressing that was so good I also used to dip my bread. My go to is the Lemon Sole which comes with pita,very flavorful rice and vegetables.Not a sauce person so I do not get the lemon butter sauce. I know - lemon sole without lemon sauce ! The last 3 times I have ordered it the fish has been served hot but everything else room temperature. I like my food steaming hot. There's nothing better than warm pita and nothing grosser than cold rice.I think what they do is plate everything while they are cooking the fish. After serving , no one ever comes to check.one time I did take my plate up to the front and request heated up. The service and food isn't as good as it used to be. Here is the only warning I have, There is your life before The Mad Greek and there is your life after the Mad Greek. I are here with my son earlier this year (I don't live in Columbus but my son does) and I have been daydreaming about their gyro for months! Seriously, the most amazing tasting gyro I have ever had in my life. The lamb is tender and juicy, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. All of the toppings extremely fresh! It is a must place visit if you are in the Columbus area. There is amble seating inside and there is also a little area that feels outdoors but is indoors. The service was great. I didn't have room for baklava because the gyro was so big but next time I will definitely leave room for it. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth--especially by the two amazing women at the counter who always offer a friendly welcome and great service. I love it so much that after earning my Master's degree earlier this year, I chose to celebrate there with friends and family. That should say it all! Don't be intimidated by the large menu--everything is made fresh and cooked with love. It's one of those rare places where you could close your eyes and point to anything and it'll be delicious. Just yesterday, I visited twice in one day. First, I stopped in to grab a to-go order for a family member and ordered a large fry for myself (highly recommend--they're hot, crispy, and topped with the most addicting seasoning). But once I saw how good their takeout looked, I immediately got hungry again and went right back for round two. I ordered three Blackened Snapper plates, which come with perfectly grilled snapper filet, spicy sauce, mixed veggies, rice pilaf, and pita bread. One word: AMAZING. Their desserts are homemade and absolutely worth saving room for (if you can!). Bonus points: They have a fully stocked bar An assortment of bottled drinks near the register A drive-up window for pre-placed orders They always include utensils and condiments with to-go orders--no need to ask! Great place for greek... This place is kind of an Eastside legend. It has not changed in forever but it has great food, a nostalgic vibe (both inside and outside), and good service. I ordered uber eats. No issue with delivery. Everything neatly packed. I had a small gyro extra sauce. I had shrimp mykons, the chicken lemon soup and cajin chicken sub. The gyro was tasty had a good flavor. The shrimp is in a more redish creamy sauce. I had to add some salt and the shrimp didn't really marinate to much in them. The soup is thick based has a slight zing of lemon. Chicken long straps and rice with veggies. It's a good soup. You do have to remember it does have some zest. Not much but you can taste a bit of the bitter. The cajin chicken sub was tasty! I would say my favorite. It a wasn't to spicy but it did have a taste that made me come back for another bite b4 putting it up. I will be ordering Uber eats from here again. read more

It's been 10 years since I ate here. We were regulars back then. So when my daughter suggested it for dinner I immediately agreed. The place remains as I remember, Luckily we found a table. We ordered shwarma salad and Pastitsio and shared both. Plenty of pita which we ate with glee, mopping up sauce. They were delicious, well seasoned and the pastitsio was moist. The owners and staff went out of their way to take care of us. Very pet friendly. We often enjoy a drink while the food is prepared with our dog sitting outside. I had pretty high hopes for Mad Greek after reading some reviews. The menu is huge, almost daunting at first. But luckily, they have the typical favorites listed at the beginning. I ordered the #1, a small gyro with fries. Admittedly, I was unsure how 'small' the small gyro would be, but figured if it was #1 on the menu it's probably pretty popular so went with it anyway. It was ready in just under 10 minutes, and the employee at the front checked in on me as I waited which was nice. I ordered it to-go, and when I opened it up later I quickly realized that the 'small' was indeed pretty small (could basically fit in the palm of my hand). Wishing I had gotten the regular size, I began eating away. There were quite a few banana peppers that over-powered the flavor, so I wished I would've gotten it without those. Ironically, they gave a huge portion of fries that definitely had plenty of seasoning. They reminded me of Five Guy fries in that they seemed fresh cut but lacked that true crunch. Overall, my experience at Mad Greeks was about average and I take part of the blame for ordering the small gyro. I don't think I would go out of my way to get it again, but if I'm in the area I would consider it. read more

I did a carry out order and the ambiance of this place was cool. It's a Greek theme however,this place was great! I went there yesterday and the food was delicious but I have a few problems. After ordering my food I sat there and waited for a pretty long time only to find out that my food had been brought up but never given to me. Then when I got to my destination and opened up the container they had taken half of the meat off of the bone and so I paid $23 for a meal and only got $13 worth. Again the food was very delicious and the people were nice but I was disappointed at how much food I received. read more

Recommend adding the sauce to the gyro versus placing in the dipping cups. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Stopped in today for a work luncheon. I was looking forward to lunch because I haven't eaten at The Mad Greek in years. I ordered a Greek salad and four falafels. I absolutely did not like the falafels. I couldn't even make the best of it and try to eat them. The older lady that usually works the register happens to came by our table. I asked her if I could trade my falafels for lentil soup. She said no. I said well could I get something else because I don't care for the falafels. She said no. We don't do exchanges or refunds. She said, "whatever you get, that's just what you get", and she walked away. I was a little embarrassed that she spoke to me like that in front of everyone. I put the falafels to the side and starting eating my salad. My coworkers convinced me to go and talk to the owner. So, I went over to the counter and asked to speak to the owner. When he came out, I told him I didn't care for the falafels and asked if I could exchange them for lentils or something else. He said absolutely. Then, he asked if I wanted to keep the falafels. I said no thank you, I'll just try your lentil soup. I went back to my table. Next, he brings out a bowl of lentils with pita bread and a plate of hummus .... which by the way was the best hummus that I have ever eaten ...... About an hour after I got back to the office, my stomach started hurting. Not sure if it's just a coincidence but it will probably be another 10 years before I give them another try. read more

My sons had raved about this restaurant so we decided to celebrate their birthday there with the whole family. I ordered the calamari and shrimp scampi. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Everyone ordered something different including gyros and a feta burger. All were very pleased with the food and friendly, welcoming service. We love this place. Huge menu with lots of options. This time I had Combo #2 a small gyro and a bowl of Avogolemono lemon chicken soup, both were excellent. The soup has a light lemon taste, not overpowering. The pita bread is fresh and the gyro comes with a garlic sauce. We also had the feta burger, which is the size of a sub sandwich. The burger has Greek spices along with the feta. The Greek fries include feta and a lemon sauce. Service is quick and you get a lot of food for the money. It's family friendly with a nice small patio available in the summer. We will definitely be back. read more

I have been to this restaurant 3 times and I'm always satisfied with great customer service and food. When I walk in it feels like home. The environment is very clean and nice. One of my favorite festivals that I use to go to is called "The Greek Festival". I went every year for 5-6 years in Dayton , Ohio. I love the culture and their food. Since I moved down here I have not found a Greek restaurant until I ran into "The Mad Greek". I really enjoy the Greek salad . Many people may say that the Cesar Salad is the best well that's only because they probably never had a Greek Salad . I love it plain or with lamb meat. It fills me up and keeps me wanting more. I also enjoyed their cheesecake and my children love their strawberry cake. Great food and great people. They even gave me and my boys the extra desert with white sugar on top for free which I enjoyed.OPA. Thank you for the wonderful food. The Gyro platter comes with the slow-roasted gyro meat w/ crisp thin shredded lettuce, red onions, tomato, banana peppers and a side of the creamy garlic dressing in the side you can add to it. The platter comes with these delicious fries (also good dipped in the creamy garlic dressing. The gyros are always so good. Tonight we had a gyro craving, but our usual order typically involves one of our three favorites which are: -Keftedes Dinner -Lamb Shank Dinner -Pastitsio (Greek Lasagna) You can't go wrong with the food here. Very greasy though, which I personally enjoy. We ordered pita with hummus and their special sauce (tzatziki). The hummus wasn't anything special. Still good though. Their special sauce is fantastic. I ordered a gyro platter, and was shocked at the size. Definitely get a bang for your buck here. They gyro was phenomenal as well as the fries. I just love the seasoning greek restaurants use! Was one of my families favorite restaurants, but no longer. We will never go to The Mad Greek again. It has turned into just a fast food joint, minus the fast. Our last experience: Had to place meal orders for five people with a cashier at the front counter. Cashier was incompetent, disinterested and frequently distracted. Next, you must pay and add a tip, before your meal is delivered and before any service has been provided. Had to carry our own beverages to our table. Meal delivery person had to visit our table twice and review our receipts to make sure the kitchen knew what to prepare. After the meals were delivered to the table; no silverware, no ketchup for the french fries, no beverage refills and no take out containers for our leftovers. Never saw the server again. read more

I love Greek food and seem to try as I'm traveling quite a bit. Today I stopped in the Mad Greek because it was less than 2 minutes from the target I went to. I was immediately greeted by 2 ladies who explained their menu to me because the items didn't have descriptions. I chose the chicken bowl with a side of mixed vegetables. I was ready to go sit in my car to wait and she told me it would only be like 5 mins. As promised my food was ready in about 5 minutes. I had a 10 min drive back to my hotel and my food was still piping hot when I arrived. The smells coming from my bag as I drove to the hotel made me hungrier than I thought I was. The food was full of flavor and the serving size was more than expected. The chicken was so tender it just melted in my mouth. I don't know how to describe the rice but it wasn't like any rice pilaf I've had before, in a good way. It was full of flavor and cooked perfectly.
