May is Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue, affecting the skin, joints, and organs. It impacts an estimated 1.5 million Americans, and millions more worldwide. The Social Butterflies Foundation is the only nonprofit in Hampton Roads dedicated specifically to supporting those with Lupus and Fibromyalgia.
