Every one of my travel companions has picked something to do on the trip and their contributions had all been hits. The pressure was high for me to make a top notch selection: KODAWARI was my pick. We came late afternoon and joined the digital waiting list. We went to a nearby cafe to wait the 55 minute line out. A Michelin recommendation was proudly displayed on the door when we entered, the place was very busy but somehow this added the the vibe. We were sat at a large communal table on the second floor away from foot traffic and took in the beautiful traditional Japanese artwork while we waited. The appetizers were fantastic, we tried 3 different ramens and they were all fantastic. The chicken and veggie were the best we've ever had. The pork quality in France lacks compared to other countries. We ended the meal with a taste of both desert offerings, the yuzu and sesame dishes were both delicious. I was disappointed in the low selection of Japanese beer, only Kirin was offered. The plum wine was a great add though! read more

Came here on New Year's Day as it was hard to find a restaurant that was open and this place got wonderful reviews. We arrived around 12:45 and got a table for 2 almost instantly. If we had arrived any later there would have been a wait. By the time we left there were people waiting outside to get in. The atmosphere is pretty cool. It is very small inside and you feel like you have been transported to Japan. I got the Wagyu beef special ramen. Apparently they were only making 50 bowls of it per day, which was pretty cool. It was delicious! The beef was incredibly tender and super flavorful. This was my first time having Wagyu beef and it was awesome. The broth was clear and very flavorful. A little bit heavy on the chopped onions but delicious nonetheless. There is the option to get the ramen with extra meat, an egg, and some extra sauce for 4 additional euros but I passed up on that. My girlfriend got the "house special" ramen which had a darker broth and pork. She paid the extra and got the extra meat, egg, and sauce. I liked the Wagyu ramen broth and the meat better than her's but they were both delicious! All in all, delicious ramen place hidden in the heart of Paris. This place is worth the hype. Downloaded their waiting app and it quoted me 35 minutes but I got sat in 20. I ordered their specialty black sesame ramen and it was perfectly rich and the noodles were super chewy. You can watch the cooks put the food together if you get sat at the bar. Noodz is the ultimate hangover cure. Whether it be pho or ramen, noodz bring you back to life. After a long night / early morning of drinking, I was desperate for some ramen. I found this restaurant on yelp and it looked promising. When we arrived to the restaurant, there was a long queue already. Luckily, we were able to get seated at the bar since there was just two of us. I got their Kurogoma ramen which is "their specialty." This is made with black sesame sauce, garlic, ginger, and farm raised chashu. I ordered it with their extra toppings since I wanted that 48 hour marinated egg. After my first sip, I literally could not taste anything but a little of the black sesame. The best part of it was the egg. The chashu was thick and dry. What a shame. Usually noodz cures a hangover, but Kodawari's ramen made it worse. If you're an asian tourist, resist coming here. read more

Woooow what a cool spot! The restaurant is designed to mimic a traditional Japanese fish market - down to the servers' uniforms and sound machines. The ambience alone makes this restaurant worth a visit. I've never had ramen made with fish broth so I was curious to experience this and was pleasantly surprised. You can definitely taste the fish flavor, but less so the more you eat. Everything was perfectly cooked including the egg. Kodwari Ramen is located in the trendy Saint Germain area of Paris, in the 7th Arrondissement. We had walked by a few times and noticed a long line of people waiting at all times of the day. After reading some yelp reviews, we realized we would have to brave the line and try it. Walked up and joined the line around 8pm on New Years Eve hoping to be in, eating and out by 10pm in order to make it to the Champs Elysees for midnight. We were probably about 25th in line but it moved quickly and we were seated after about a 40 minute wait outside. As soon as you walk in you literally feel like you're in Japan; the decor is awesome, the smells are intoxicating and the vibe is hip! We were seated at a bar overlooking (and literally on top) the cooks preparing the bowls of Ramen. The menu is fairly simple with about 5 types of Ramen and a few appetizer type items. Sitting at the bar, we were able to witness the process and see first hand why goes in to each bowl. The Kurogoma Ramen, "Our Specialty", was absolutely delicious; a black secret sesame broth, full of pork, vegetables, seaweed, a boiled egg and of course delicious noodles; and went great with my Ichiban beer. Be aware that the restaurant is extremely small so be cautious with any sudden movements and be aware people walking behind you, especially with boiling bowls of soup all around!! Bathroom is up some steep narrow stairs so again, be cautious, especially if you've had a drink or two!!! If you're in the Saint Germain area and can brave the line, Kodawari Ramen is definitely worth it!!! read more

I know what you're thinking, why would you eat ramen in Paris?? Excuse me, why wouldn't you????? Absolutely LOVED Kodawari Ramen. They're atmosphere was so unique and authentic. They even had sounds of Tokyo playing as if you were in another place. The wait was fairly short, as we were party of 2. We were seated at the bar and were able to watch the chefs cooking the noodles. It was so cool to watch. We ordered the Black sesame ramen and it was just. WOW. I think about this ramen on a weekly basis. I go back in my camera roll to fondly remember my eating experience lol We paired this with some waters and a cold sake, which was delicious. Didn't think I would have delicious ramen in Paris, better than some restaurants in NY. It's located in the heard of the 6e and it opens for dinner at 7pm. I should have arrived when it opened because by 8pm there was a long line of 10-15 people deep. There isn't a list to write your name on, the waitress just comes out and takes the next group whenever a table becomes available. Inside is very tiny, granted its two floors but very narrow. They do make good use of the space with tables at the bar and along the wall. You may be sitting right next to another party but it's ok since the ramen is delicious. The menu is simple with four different types with eggs and other options as add ons. The ramens are 12 Euros each and have lots of noodles, pickled vegetables and arugula. I tried the shoyu ramen and black sesame ramen which both had one large dense piece of chashew. The broth for both were chicken based. I liked the shoyu ramen a little better maybe because of the consistency. The black sesame was thicker and was something I've never tried before. They provide a large water jug for each table but they do offer some Japanese drinks. The yuzu ice cream was so good and was generous with two scoops for one serving. It may take a while for the waitress to come over and take your order since it's so busy. But once your order is placed the ramen is served within 5 minutes. My boyfriend and I went here on our trip to Paris because I was craving for something hot while it's like 30°F outside. The wait :The line was crazy long!! We were in line for a good 45 mins before get to our seats. FYI You will be sitting with other people that were in line with you because of their limited spaces (not too bad tbh). Nothing too "Wow" since the broth was not as flavorful as I hope it would be since I expected more because of the 45 mins waiting in line. Also when the ramen was brought out, my bowl was a little cold, which make the pork in my bowl has a little fatty taste. However they forgot the extra order that my boyfriend ordered, we reminded our waiter one more time,but he forgot it again. So glad we stumbled in on a whim! After walking around in the cold and drizzle for several hours, we decided to look for something hot and soupy. We found Kodawari Ramen on Yelp and lucky enough that it wasn't too far from where we were. We got to the place around 1:30 pm. It was perfect timing for us because 2 people had just left. Within several minutes, my wife and I were sat at the counter. Very nice traditional Japanese decor in a very tight cozy space. The waiter noticed that we didn't speak French so he switched out the French for the English menu. My wife ordered the Kurogoma ramen and I ordered Shoyu ramen, both with added toppings (chef's recommendations). Everything was so fantastic. The broth was AMAZING. Every time my friends and I passed this restaurant there was a long line and we really wanted to try it and finally found an auspicious time to go (a little after 6:30 since the French tend to eat late).The lanterns in the dim light is great for the atmosphere and the place was cozy and relaxing. As for the food, the ramen is delicious! I got the "classique" with no extras (though I would recommend adding egg and extra meat if you're willing to splurge). I paired it with a beer. We ordered black sesame and paitan ramen. I personally don't like the black ramen, it is just so so, not flavorful at all... Paitan is better than the black ramen with creamy soup. We had Hakata Choten ramen the first night when we arrived in Paris. It is way much better and more delicious than this one. The service is much slower too! This is a cosy little ramen restaurant, with genuine Japanese chefs behind the bar (not something always guaranteed in Paris). The interior has a great feel, with lanterns and wooden panelling very reminiscent of Tokyo restaurants, finished off with tables on Kirin crates : ) The service friendly and attentive. The interior decorations are very good eye candy and conversation starters while you wait for your food, but that's not enough to keep you entertained when it takes well over 40 minutes for to get your order. In addition, they charge an absurd amount for my drinks. I know in Paris, drinks tend to be on the expensive side, but when I know I could get a panini and the same size coke at another place nearby for the exact same price, it adds insult to injury. Their staff, while not necessarily rude, don't give the same level of hospitality as other places I have visited, and while the ramen itself is alright, it's nowhere near some of the better ones I have had. Unfortunately, I can't see myself recommending to anyone. Too many parts are just mediocre and there are not enough good points to outweigh the cons. read more

I ordered the shoyu ramen. I'm quite surprised at how high this restaurant is rated on Yelp. I thought it was an average bowl of ramen at best. I found the noodles to be too thin and we're way over cooked. They came out a tad too soggy with very little bite. The slice of chashu pork was also cut too thick and was very hard to chew through. I actually struggled to bite chunks off because it was so tough. The saving grace for the ramen was the broth and the extra egg topping I ordered. The broth had more dimension than I was expecting, it wasn't simply salt and soy sauce. The egg was perfectly cooked and still had a runny yolk. I lined up about 40 minutes at approx. 8 pm. Considering the long wait and the price for the ramen (14 euros) it's just not quite up to snuff. read more

Ramen was excellent. I'm assuming that this place is modeled after an authentic Ramen restaurant in Japan. The decor is amazing, but it's super small and cramped. Didn't help that it was 100 degrees outside when we ate there. The food is excellent, because it's so popular it felt rushed. When we got there around 2200 there was a line outside the restaurant. Small place makes me feel like I'm in Tokyo. I asked for a English menu, unfortunately they did not have one. The waitress was more than welcome to help but I know they are busy so went with the classic. Really good taste. I asked for some chili sauce but it wasn't spicy at all.
