​I really liked the painters, but the owner Jason Morton is the reason for this 1-star review. Because of bad weather and my restricted schedule, Jason tried to change our payment terms a month into the project, asking for material money upfront. I didn't feel comfortable doing that because the only guarantee I had that the job would be completed was holding the payment until the end as agreed. ​His response was completely out of line. He became defensive and told me, "I see what kind of people you are," simply because I stuck to our contract. He took his past frustrations with other customers out on me, accusing me of being upset with him because of weather, when I had been nothing but patient. He wouldn't calm his demeanor, and he kept yelling and insisting on payment. My husband had to intervene because of how he was speaking to me. We ended up having to hang up on him. To top it off, when we received our initial estimate, we were told several times that some small rotted boards would be replaced, but at the end, he just said "we don't offer that service". It's a shame because the house looks good, but no one should be insulted or yelled at for sticking to an original agreement.​ I read your response. Your team does quality work, it's the owner with a horrible attitude. Jason, its sad that you have to lie just to save face. Your team at kodiak painting definitely painted my house and they did an awesome job. You though, Mr Jason Morton should really check your attitude. You are being dishonest and not holding yourself accountable for your behavior. I don't like being called a liar. After those text messages, I called Jason to get some clarity, and that's when the disrespectful conversation started. He tried to push me into paying for materials up front. I've lived in my home for over 15 years, and the exterior was in dire need of a makeover. Kodiak Painting was one of several businesses I found and contacted based on recommendations from a local Facebook page. Jason was the most straightforward, responsive, courteous, and reasonably-priced of them all. Jason was awesome! I found him on help and went with him because of the good reviews. I was not disappointed! I only needed a little touch up on the outside which include some stucco patches, painting the shutters and up and around the outside fireplace. This was mainly due to the HOA sending me a letter that the home needed some painting. I thought "oh my gosh, I can't afford to paint the whole house!" But they weren't really asking for that, only that it needed some painting, so anyway, Jason made it look like it was brand new. Still waiting for the HOA to say it looks great, but I am sure they will. It's amazing what just a little bit will do to make your home (this was a rental) look amazing. On top of that, the price was extremely reasonable. Just get a quote from and you will see for yourself. Note, we are getting that window fixed next week. He know how to walk on roof tiles too! Jason and his crew painted the outside and inside (including cabinets and banister) of our new to us home. Jason is always quick to respond, prompt, polite, knowledgeable and professional. He is a very kind person and wants to ensure you are completely happy with the work he's done. Jason was instrumental in helping us choose colors that we love and that all work really well with the lighting in the respective rooms. He has a good sense of what colors will work and what might not and is very open to sharing his thoughts. We have received so many compliments on his work from friends and neighbors. His prices are competitive and the quality of work is high. I had a painter come to the house who was working with the person I hired to install the crown mounding and he loved our kitchen cabinets and told us the finish was done very, very well, asked the color (again recommended by Jason) and told me I should be very happy with the workmanship and that he was going to consider re-painting his own cabinets the same color. We were not expecting to invest as much on painting initially, but Jason truly changed the entire look and feel of our home. When he and his crew completed the painting I was sure it was the best money we spent! So first off, when me and my wife purchased our new home, we realized that most builders go with cheaper flat paint. Granted that we spent so much money in our new home, we wanted to upgrade our paint to an eggshell or satin. In addition, we were in a time crunch because we wanted to have the walls painted before we moved in. I called several companies, including Kodiak. The owner, Jason answered right away and came out same day to get me a quote. Granted that during our move we were already hit with unexpected expenses that come along with moving, I was hesitant to hear what the quote would be. Jason gave us a more than reasonable quote compared to sone of the other bigger paint companies. Jason also accommodated our short notice and came out the next day to paint. The job was done much better than I would have done. And he used Sherwin Williams paint. The borders/trim was clean and I am definitely pleased with it. Lastly, the past several days, my whole block has been getting hit with tons of companies (construction, security systems, solar, etc.) trying to sell us stuff while we're literally moving. Moving is already stressful and the last thing I want is for someone to stop me to give me a sales pitch on why I should buy something. Jason essentially told me that he didn't want to be that guy that does that to new homeowners and would prefer being referred by word of mouth.
