Been a member here for years , always a good time having great wine with the great people that work there. Check out my last visit here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C64kSxcSibk/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Follow as I check out more spots in the 805.

I loved this place. My daughter's friend is a wine club member. We were there on a Sunday morning for a tasting. Unfortunately the famous Dan was off. But owners' son gave us a fabulous tasting. Dry Riesling so good. I am an oaky girl but loved their steel Chardonnay and bought six. Oh the reds! They have emus! Such a pretty laid back place. Why I love the Santa Ynez Valley so much--another cool winery!

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon about 11:30am. There were several groups of people already in full swing. What's nice is that you don't need a reservation. They have LOTS of seating spaced out all over. We shared 1 tasting which gets you 6 tastes of your choice. I forgot to take a picture of the menu. (oops, my bad) I think there were about 12 or 16 wines you could pick from. So... lots of white and red options. We ended up liking several of our tastes so I ended up getting a mixed case. If you buy 12+ bottles... you get a case discount and they comped our tasting. And they ship in case you don't want to lug a case or more of wine around. Shipping charge for my case was $22.... so really reasonable. They didn't seem to mind if you brought your own snacks, lunch as we saw a couple of groups at the picnic tables had coolers with them. I could see spending a few hours here enjoying wine and snacks/lunch. The setting is park-like and really lovely. Oh and they are dog friendly as we saw a couple folks with their dogs.

A great place to bring a picnic and enjoy their wines. The outdoor space here is spacious and beautiful. With lots of picnic tables all around the property. We always have a lovely time here. The best part is you don't need to have reservations, they will happily welcome you to enjoy their winery. A family friendly place, the kids love it here.

Koehler has one of the most beautiful grounds! They are very family friendly and you can bring your kids and dogs so everyone can have a great experience. My kids had a blast looking at the Emu and sheep on property. Dan is the absolute best!! He is so funny and knowledgeable. He explains all the wines so well. We enjoyed everything on the tasting menu, so many options. Our personal favorites were reserve Chardonnay, rose, GSM and Dan's favorite Sangiovese. Can't wait to return!

    An excellent rose!

Pretentious, this is not. I've been lucky that every visit I've made has had Dan working, and he's always great! I went here the first time as part of a tour that included two other wineries as well. This is was the only one I enjoyed so much that I joined! The wine is great, and not so high in ABV that it overtakes the flavor. I love their Sangiovese, and their rosé is perfect for these hotter summer days. No reservations needed; just drive in, sit down, and they'll take care of ya!

Koehler Winery was our first stop this past Sunday on a day filled with wine tasting, in part because they open early at 10 am. We arrived just a minute or two before they opened and enjoyed the area outside by the parking lot where an emu (or ostrich?) was hanging around. We also enjoyed the friendly cat that was hanging out both inside and outside of the tasting room. Service here was definitely unforgettable. The guy pouring the wines when we were there was very funny and sarcastic, yet knowledgeable. The jokes gave way to both a fun and unpretentious atmosphere. Overall, I thought the wines were all decent, but honestly, not my favorite. Definitely not bad, and as a plus, I felt liked the pours were pretty generous in size. I'm a big fan of Foxen Canyon in general. If you get the chance, definitely visit this area of wine country. I find the drive much more beautiful than some of the other mainstream parts. I would not hesitate to come back to this particular winery, and certainly would recommend it to others, especially animal lovers. The wines are good, service is great, and the location has a lot to offer.

We came here on our way to our final destination. It was open early on a weekend and we called first to confirm that we didn't need reservations. We were excited because they said they walked in and they also had emus! We were pretty excited as we drove in. The tasting was done outdoor which was a big space with different areas that you could sit at. We loved the emus. We weren't limited to what wines we could taste which was nice and we picked among a selection of whites and reds. The whites were very tasty.

This was winery #2 on a 3 winery wine tasting tour. Would be 5 stars for grounds, lots of picnic tables and ambiance, but Dan's sense of humor came across as stinging and ridiculing toward my husband when hubby wanted to try a red wine first. Dan "jokingly" chastised him and told him he wasn't a true wine drinker if he dared have a red before white, and continued to "jokingly" harass him. It was off-putting and actually made me a bit mad. Hubby likes red wines, plain & simple. Why should we be subjected to ANYONE'S scrutiny for liking what we like? In customer service, perception is everything. Our perception is that Dan thought we were uneducated country bumpkins who he needed to enlighten. We spent $600 on a case of red at winery #1, and $1400 on 2 cases at winery #3, but there was NO WAY we were spending a dime at Koehler after being treated like that by Dan.

Really enjoyed our time at this winery. While so many if the wine options is Los Olivos are in the downtown tasting rooms, this was a breath of fresh air. The outdoor space was lovely. Lots of green space, grass, trees, and even an emu farm! There's tons of space for seating as well for all party sizes. There happened to be families , a bus full of people, and couples all over and everyone fit swimmingly. We brought our own food there and ate it while we did the wine tasting. Wine tasting was $20 / person and included 6 tastings. We were able to revisit a few of the wines as well. The service was super friendly and for being so busy they were able to pour the wine and describe it quite efficiently. Definitely a spot worth visiting!

Crappy service, disgusting furniture and walk ways Rather kind of unkempt and the seating was dirty Asked for a simple recommendation on the wine and the worker/owner , simply responded "I don't care, I don't know what you like..." Weird vibes and ambience , will not be back

This is a nice winery with a beautiful setting. The owner was funny and friendly and the wine was pretty good, we bought a few bottles and did a tasting as well. They open at 10 which gives you a early start for visiting the winery's. Give them a try.

It was the first of five tastings we did during our weekend in town, and the wines were, admittedly, the least impressive. They went down easy, though, and we had a pleasant visit. We checked into our hotel on Friday around 5:30 and quickly realized that all the wineries on our list were closed. We asked the receptionist where we might be able to do a tasting, and she said Carhartt was our best bet. It was quite open when we walked in, almost intimidatingly so, the live music loud as we rounded the sidewalk outside the enclosed patio. Jack welcomed us into the tasting room and suggested we do a vibe check on the patio before deciding where to sit. We peeked outside and it seemed fun in a way we weren't looking for, a bit of a party atmosphere with a live band and a lot of people. We took our seats in the quieter tasting room, where we were able to enjoy the music from a distance while we drank some wine. We both did the house tasting, which came with five pours of Carhartt wines: the 2024 Top Branch, the 2022 Sin Nada, the 2022 Sangiovese, the 2022 Rebel Roan, and the 2020 Northerly. Jack also gave us a taste of the 2021 Graciano. They were all nice wines, but we particularly liked the Sin Nada, the Sangiovese, and the Graciano, and took home two bottles of each, getting one $25 tasting fee waived with each purchase of three bottles. Jack was a great host, and he told us all about the wines and winery as we went along. (He pre-empted our first question, saying that yes, they were the same Carhartts as the Carhartt clothing label, but not the same company. I guess just the classic generational wealth to winemaking pipeline.) It was a helpful introduction to both the Carhartt wines and Los Olivos, and Jack was good company. I said Carhartt was the least impressive of the wineries we visited, but it's also worth noting that it had the lowest price point. Carhartt isn't gunning for Robert Parker ratings. The wines are accessible and tasty, and I have a feeling we'll go through our bottles very fast.

The place is casual and not tiny, but it definitely fills up. I don't think they were taking walk-ins while we were there. The tasting room--or tasting patio, I suppose--was really pleasant, a breezy outdoor space in front of a charming brick-red house with a strong Los Olivos aesthetic. My only complaint is that the bathroom was a porta-potty, though it was the nice kind, with running water. We got our own table and a friendly, knowledgeable young server brought us our wines and explained what we were drinking. He was busy, so this was one of the less in-depth tastings we did on this trip, but the experience was easy and enjoyable. There were two tastings on offer, the classic estate flight and the "fresh and esoteric." Since this was our first visit, we both went with the estate, and it was a great introduction to Stolpman's wines. We tried the 2025 Sauvignon Blanc, the 2024 Chenin Blanc, the 2024 La Cuadrilla, the 2023 Sangiovese, and the 2024 Angeli, the label's flagship Syrah. They were all excellent and very well priced--the Cuadrilla goes for $26. It's also a delicious wine with a cool provenance, a red blend made by Stolpman's vineyard workers on a designated block, in what looks to be a successful profit sharing project. The tasting fee was $25, waived with a three-bottle purchase. We snapped up three each of the Sauvignon Blanc and the Sangiovese, which cost $24 and $36 a bottle. Tremendous value for such outstanding wines. I have a feeling we'll go through these quickly, and may be tempted to join the wine club if we do. Either way, though, I hope to go back to Stolpman.
