If you're a fan of Rhône style wines, this is absolutely a spot worth visiting. In my opinion, Andrew Murray makes some of the best Syrah in Santa Barbara County. Just a heads up, if you're looking for lighter, more delicate reds, this probably isn't your tasting room. The focus here is definitely on bigger, richer wines, although they also make a fantastic Chardonnay. The property is beautiful, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and overall it was a really enjoyable tasting experience. I'm not sure I'll be joining the wine club, but I'd definitely come back for another visit. My only minor suggestion is that some of the younger Syrahs would benefit from a bit more air before being poured. The current releases are still quite young, and when a bottle has only been open for a few minutes, the wines can come across as more closed than they really are. Given a little time in the glass, they become much more expressive and show a lot more of their character. That small critique aside, the wines are excellent and this is definitely one of the better Rhône focused tasting experiences in the area. read more

Solid choice for a wine tasting up in the beautiful Los Olivos wine area. We called ahead and made our reservation a few days before driving up. Plenty of organized parking when you first get off Foxen rd to the vineyard.. Inviting hostesses and great customer service awaits from the moment you walk up to the tasting outdoor area. The area sits under a beautiful shady oak tree area with an adequate amount of clean tables to sit at. The indoor space looks beautiful and renovated with modern features. Time was limited so we only had a outdoor glass of wine instead of trying the full tasting menu. The winery has plenty of wine choices to choose from and you won't be disappointed. Definitely hits all the notes for the traditional SBwine choices. Overall a great choice to spend a few hours at enjoying. The Syrah lot glass of wine we had was simply fantastic. What an amazing venue to visit and wine taste. I have been here many times and the weather is always nice (lucky us). They have a large area outside under beautiful Oak trees for small parties or large groups. They have small rooms inside for tastings and restrooms as well as a photo machine that takes still and short videos for fun mementos to send to yourself or share for the public page/wall at the winery. Came here for a taste and let me tell you thr grounds are spectacular. Very cool taste outside. It was nice and shaded. Wines we didnt connect with as much as we would have liked but there was some good ones along our path. What really made our experience was our server Michelle. She did an absolute wonderful job of measuring and keeping up with our pace. Beyond friendly. Our group all walked away feeling like because of her we would return to show off the area to folks. One of my favorite wineries in Sant Ynez Valley. I came on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving with my family to do some wine tasting. I had made reservations a week before to avoid any issues since there were 7 of us. We were seated right away with no problems and loved our time here. We ended up getting bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon cause it was so good. The winery is beautiful. Both indoor and outdoor seating area are amazing. Had a phenomenal experience wine tasting with friends a few weeks back. Despite the weather being rainy, they were able to give us a great experience inside. While very home feeling, it was extremely well decorated as well. Each setting was just far enough from other people so you can focus on one another. Izzy in particular made our experience one that we were grateful for. She was extremely knowledgeable about each wine as well as the vineyard itself. We asked tons of questions and she knew everything off the top of her head as well as giving us a detailed and interesting answer. When making your list of wineries to visit when you're in town, don't forget Andrew Murray Vineyards! It's a super relaxed place, which a lot of seating inside and out. I particularly enjoy the outdoor section under the big oak tree. Both times I've visited we had the pleasure of having Thomas as our pourer and he is always excellent. This is a great mix of fantastic ambiance, friendly staff and excellent wine! I particularly enjoy how their tasting menus are a little more expansive than most others, giving you more opportunity to taste a larger variety. They're also very kid friendly here! Inside they have a FREE camera that can take stills, gifs and more that are displayed on the big screen inside but also emailed to you for free. A wonderful keepsake that the kids love. Very nice, relaxing, casual ambiance - and CHOCOLATES! My friend is the wine drinker. I didn't mind coming along to tour a couple of wineries, but the libation is lost on me, so I just listen to the descriptions and watch her enjoy and give her opinion. When we got to AM, they had snacks, a few gift shop items to peruse and CHOCOLATES to purchase. I enjoyed a dark chocolate with peanut butter center, while relaxing in a comfy chair with one of the warm provided blankets to enjoy. My friend bought a few bottles and, when checking out, was told she could purchase a $5 ticket to their Los Olivos tasting room, E11even, and get an additional 5 tastings, so she opted in for that. Where we were staying in Solvang they gave us a list of wineries to try. It was two for one tasting so we picked this place to go to. On our way home. Very glad we did as the wines were pretty good. Isaac helped us and he was very informative and helpful. I ended up buying a Esperanto and a Rose. Their Syrah was also quite good. Prices were reasonable, even though we were not club members. We loved all the wines that we tasted. We bought two bottles to take home. If we didn't belong to so many wineries, we would've actually become members of this winery. Loved this place and the wines were amazing. They have a a super nice outdoor area shaded by trees where you can enjoy a tasting, glass or bottle. I had the tasting and loved all the wines so much that I joined their wine club. I received my first shipment the week after I arrived back home to Texas. Shipping is only $25 and totally worth it. My two favorites so far include the roasted slope and the Syrah estate. They sell snacks too. We had cheese and crackers with our wine. Parking is available on site. read more

We had a very nice time at Andrew Murray, as they were very busy, I was ready to to turn and leave, but they were really accommodating. As Dex is a small dog, he is unsure of large dogs, we were able to use a smaller room, and were basically given a private tasting by Jordan. Everyone was really sweet to us. Esperance Rosé and Viognier were a nice way to start, the reds and red blends were a nice way to finish. I enjoyed the Grenache, which is nice and dry enough for my taste. We picked up a Late Harvest Viognier which we both enjoyed. read more

I really enjoyed the wine and the beautiful venue. Perhaps we arrived at a bad time or day but I felt like we were a burden. Our server really didn't seem to care that we were there and when one of my friends tried to make a friendly connection she really didn't care. Perhaps it was the end of a very long day and she was just done. That said, this is a beautiful venue and even though it was a hot day their patio is perfectly shaded and breezy so we were comfortable as we drank their delicious wines. This 30 mile road winds from Los Olivos to Santa Maria and is home to some of the most accomplished winemakers in California. Andrew Murray Vineyards is one of the best places to stop in this area, due to the large outdoor picnic spaces with beautiful views, great wine, and friendly helpful staff. We visited yesterday afternoon on 3 recommendations from other winery's. Place was maybe half full with a large table leaving. It Looked to be about 4-5 people working. Took 10min to get a seat and that's after a girl who was off work got up from her friends to help us. Didn't help that we witnessed a patron catch a mouse with his bar hands and toss it just outside the seating area. We had one guy pour a first wine for a tasting never said what it was and said someone else would be assisting. Waited another 15-20min went to the bathroom never got a person to help us so we left. As we were leaving the guy who spent 20min trying to get the heaters to work was now in helping someone who walked into the inside bar area. So unfortunately we cannot rate the wine. we had been to a couple other places that were way more busy and less staff and had great experiences and even joined their clubs. So your winery lost a potential customer. read more

5 Stars for Andrew Murray -- and his wine! Came during Covid on a sunny Monday in November (so no crowds to worry about). BIG space and perfect for an outdoor picnic -- just buy some of their wine or do a tasting. We bought a bottle of the Esperance red blend which was very good. I like the fact they have two levels of outdoor seating and lots of room if you want your privacy. Andrew Murray Vineyards is right next door to the famous Firestone winery. It's located in the old Curtis Winery tasting room. I loved all of the wines I tried at Andrew Murray. They had a rose on sale which wasn't the greatest but the other wine was pretty impressive. They had some delicious candy and wine on tap. A few customers came in and filled up their growlers. The tasting room is very modern. They have large windows that allow in a lot of light. There is a separated area behind glass with a large table for wine club members. The grounds outside make you feel as if you're right in the middle of wine country - vines and towering trees everywhere. There is outdoor seating which is super nice. If you're headed down the Foxen wine trail; Andrew Murray is a must!! read more

A beautiful terrace garden wine tasting area that could really use some heaters but warm yourself up with some of the fabulous wines. You cannot bring food, but there are some snack options (chips, crackers, cheeses, salami and olives). The wines are outstanding, and the service is very good. I am pretty familiar with Andrew Murray wines and visited the tasting room in downtown Los Olivos several years, but never the winery. So a couple of weeks ago I made a tasting reservation at Andrew Murray Vineyards, and yesterday the family and I headed to the Santa Barbara wine country for the day. Our reservation was for 10:30. I know what some of you reading this review are thinking....who drinks wine at 10:30 in the morning? This guy, that's who, and let me tell you why. The Santa Barbara wine country is approximately 40 miles inland from the coast. The weather can be brutal in summer and early fall. Temperatures can easily get up into the 3 digit range and since wine tasting is taking place outdoors now, drinking wine in excessive heat is just horrible in my view. Hence, why I book early in the day. Andrew Murray was the first of two wineries we were scheduled to visit. We arrived around 10:20, found a shady spot to park, and made our way to the winery. We walked through the small picnic area at the base of the winery and then over to the outdoor terrace where tastings are held. The terrace is scattered with rustic, yet stylish, tables and chairs. Each table adorned with a beautiful arrangement of succulents. There is a giant oak tree in the center of the terrace that provides shade to almost the entire area depending on where the sun is at any point in the day. Some tables have umbrellas to add additional shade. Overall a very earthy, comfortable and laid back environment for wine tasting. Jordan poured for us and did a great job at explaining the various wines on the tasting menu and answering any questions I had. The wines being poured were: 2020 ROSÉ ESPÉRANCE 2019 ENCHANTÉ ESTATE GROWN 2018 ESPÉRANCE ESTATE GROWN 2019 GRENACHE ESTATE GROWN 2019 SYRAH ROASTED SLOPE 2018 SYRAH ESTATE GROWN The Mrs. and I enjoyed a glass of Grenache to round out our tasting and purchased three bottles to take home. Aside from the tasting terrace, there is an indoor space which houses the merchandise area, restrooms, as well as what I think used to be the wine club lounge and other seating areas. Honestly, it is a beautiful space. I can only describe it as sleek and sexy. As our tasting was wrapping up, a guitar player showed up to provide music to add to the tasting experience. There was also a hotdog cart that was setting up just below the tasting terrace. Hotdogs, wine, and the great outdoors, what more do you need? The other members of staff we encountered were very friendly and courteous. Whomever trains them does an excellent job. From what I heard around me, there wasn't one wine related question that came up that staff couldn't answer. read more

We had a very disappointing visit to the SY tasting room. The wine was good, but the staff were so unfriendly and they constantly complained about the number of people there. We ended up going to another spot after one tasting. It's unfortunate for the winery that the staff gets so flustered performing what should be a fun job. read more

The wife and I first made our foray in to santa ynez valley wines a year ago during a quick trip up to the area from LA. Andrew Murray was our first stop and, from that first experience, the winery we decided to become members at. In many ways the tasting area made the decision for us, as our dog loved the picnic tables and shaded grass areas in front of the winery. When you throw in the fact that the service has been excellent every time we have been up, and their wines have been real tasty, at least in our book, we are big fans of this place. I've taken my parents and my grandma up here too and...they are all fans. Keep up the good work! read more

Our outstanding experience on a Tuesday afternoon in May at Andrew Murray was the epitome of friendly hospitality! We stopped by to see whether they sell wines by the glass and if they had room for us, since we had not made a reservation. The hostess was extremely welcoming and said they had room for us, yes they sell by the glass, and would we prefer to sit indoors or out? We chose to sit indoors because it was a bit overcast and chilly. The comfy sofa with abundant fluffy blankets added to the warmth of the tasting room. After experiencing the exact opposite of this earlier in the day at another winery just down Foxen Canyon Road, this was a welcome oasis.
