I hate that the men shoes have so few choices. Especially when it comes to getting a wide width shoe fit. They have none 6/15: seconds visit , This time to buy a birthday gift for my son. They wouldn't honor the 30% for the cologne gift set because it was a "premium " brand. I'm officially done w Kohl's. To the kohls rep who reads this: .... take the company line of " we are sorry about your experience" ... blah blah... etc , blah blah... and stick it.. This should be a review to Kohl's as a whole not just this store. I had a charge account with them and set up automatic payments, which I was not on! This went on for 4 months straight where I called the company when the payment was not taken. Step by step over the phone we setup and confirmed auto pay. NEVER Worked! Paid it off and cut it up. Don't get a charge card with them! read more

This store is disorganized and dirty. Went in with a shopping list in mind that I saw on their web page, and it said the items were available in this location. No one was able to help me. Than I went looking for a coat, they had a ridiculously small selection. So sad! read more

I have had nothing but great experiences with this store since they have opened. I find the help wonderful and extremely accommodating. Years ago my elderly mom drifted off in the store and I was frantic being she was not well. I went to an employee and within seconds about 10 personnel came running, they locked the doors and searched the store for her. I was so grateful for their kindness and caring, she was found and luckily she was all right. I shop in the store quite frequently and have nothing but good things to say about my experiences. read more

I have shopped in this store since it opened. Kohls has nice quality clothes at good prices and the %off coupons make you feel you are getting an even better deal. Add in kohls cash back and you feel you are stealing the clothes from them. That being said, there has been a noticeable change in the Newton store over the last year or so. The appearance of the store is starting to look like the lower class chain stores..notice how many clearance racks there are. I think there are more clearance out of season clothes than in season racks of clothes. I get trying to mark down last seasons' clothes, but the markdowns aren't that great overall, and the shear number of clothes on those racks is mind boggling. Some of those markdowns I swear are even from a year ago. Dump the stuff if it hasn't sold in a month or two. Every department is jammed. Work on finding some lines of womens clothes that have up to size 18 or 20. 0X and 1X are cut different and most of the things in that size look like they are for older mature women. 1 out of 5 employees may say hello, or offer to help you. It didn't use to be that way, in fact if you had any interaction with any employee there was always a smile and a "what can I help you with?". It just seems like everything is getting sloppy. My only other issue is the % off coupons. Have you gotten a coupon in the mail and then looked at the back to see what is not included in that sale price? Practically everything. I mean I swear the list of what you CAN'T use your coupon on is longer than what you can use it on. There is room for improvement- mostly customer service and clearance racks that overwhelm the regular stock. Carry more womens' clothes in 16-20.When you get in those larger sizes (especially 18 and 20 you are lucky if there are two or three pieces in that size-yet you will find six or more each of the smaller sizes. Make the shopping enjoyable, work on the friendliness of the employees-we want to still shop in an actual store rather than on line. read more

I've been shopping here since this Kohl's opened, and finally decided to leave some general observations. The store generally has a lot of good deals on quality clothing that's at the same material quality and in-style level as a mall department store, but without the status-labels or high prices. I can't think of anywhere else which leverages a come-back discount as effectively as Kohl's. As usual, there is no free lunch, and the good deals come in exchange for competent customer service. The clothing areas are typically disorganized, and might receive a partial cleanup once a week at most...at least that's how it looks any given day. As for the overall store, I've noticed that this Kohl's location, along with all the other big-box stores in Newton, has recently fallen into cramming lots of products, some of them very dollar-store-esque and useless, into the floor space as tightly as possible. At certain parts of the store, there is no more than 2 feet of clearance between the racks...isn't there a fire code that directs how close shelves and racks can be? This makes for very tight and uncomfortable shopping experience when its just moderately crowded. Most of the workers also appear to be indifferent about working there - my wife had a basic question about checking in-store for a specific size and color of a clothing item - after waiting in line at the Customer Service desk to speak face-to-face with a customer service associate, my wife was rudely re-directed to just order the color and size from the computer kiosk. Why couldn't this 'customer service' associate just do her job, and help my wife check on the clothing item? After that little interaction which I witnessed, this Kohl's now officially receives the badge of low-standards like all the other big box stores in Newton. Congratulations. read more

Prior to shopping at Kohl's in Newton, I had visited the Morris Plains and Ledgewood stores a few times. My experiences at those locations were less than satisfactory. Those particular stores were always crowded and the merchandise did not appear to be attractively displayed. The Newton location is seldom ever crowded, merchandise is displayed neatly and the store is cleanly maintained, in particular the restrooms and fitting rooms. The personnel are helpful and the hours are very convenient. read more
