An order of rice with a side of fish
    Vi L.

If you love waiting as much at Disneyland or Universal you're in for a ride. Enjoy a comfy bed of rice per each bite and never make it past round 1 before they close. My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday night at 6pm with two other tables dining here already (pretty much empty) and I swear they have the most slowest service ever. The server of ours is an asian lady with short hair wearing a red shirt and she didn't bother to check in with us after like 30-40mins. Instead of catering to the guest eating here, this server lady would rather just go to her colleagues and flirt with them. She needs to be trained again and hire someone else who is more attentive to work here. It took a whole hour to even get our simple orders ready which was just a couple rolls and nigiri's. Aside from that with such slow service, 3 front running staff are all taking a break so no water service or any service??? I have never seen this happen in my entire life and I don't know if that is even possible (SEE PICS) The food here is bad and dull and they add way too much rice which honestly was very unnecessary (SEE PICS)

My go to place for quality affordable sushi. Best salmon skin salad ever tasted. Sad to see them close on Sunday.

    Fried oysters! Sooo good!

We went here on a Wednesday night for AYCE sushi. We were definitely happy to find this spot. The food was yummy and fresh. Service was pretty decent. I would say this place is actually better than AYCE sushi at Little Sakana in Mira Mesa. Pretty spacey inside with chill music. We will be back soon!

The fish ratio to the rolls were insanely small. Unfortunately the sushi just wasn't delicious. I hate to speak like this about a mom and pop but this is the rare occasion that this sushi simply did not hit. It's sad because our waitress was fantastic! We tipped well to reflect that, she was very attentive and very sweet. The restaurant looks nice and it wasn't busy when we went in. Me and my hubby were traveling through San Diego and stopped here on a whim. Unfortunately, I just don't think this was their night. We liked a couple rolls okay, but their volcano roll, our go to roll, just wasn't delicious. We under ordered on their AYCE just because each roll was disappointing ranging from "okay" to "bad". Probably won't return :(

Cute small sushi spot in the plaza. Service is quick and friendly plus they have an awesome happy hour! My favorite items were the cowboy roll and the garlic edamame which was AMAZING and nicely coated in the sauce. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

A banner for Koi Sushi hangs on the front of the suite below where the Yi Sushi sign used to be. Perhaps permanent signage will be added soon now that the new management has been in place for over a month. The inside had plenty of seating, but customers were lacking during my visit. One party was leaving as I arrived, and a couple of third party delivery orders were picked up while I ate. The place was empty the rest of the time which tells me they need to step it up in advertising and promotion. The menu had no cover, just eight pages of listings including pictures. Most of the items were the standard ones you would find at any local sushi spot. What stood out was two pages of Koi Special Rolls that featured 30 different varieties. I ordered two of these rolls, Kobe and Fish Lover, for my meal along with two sets of nigiri, bluefin tuna and scallop. The rolls were cut into 10 pieces each and neatly plated. The Kobe Roll consisted of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, cucumber, and jalapeno on the inside topped with seared steak and a special sauce. You don't find a specialty roll very often with cooked beef and raw fish so this was rather unique. The beef added more texture than flavor to the roll. The Fish Lover Roll was made up of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and white tuna mixed with cilantro, jalapeno, and scallions wrapped with soy paper. I am partial to rice-less rolls because they are less filling. This one resembled a rainbow roll minus the avocado and rice. The two types of nigiri were straightforward in size and quality. I have tasted better bluefin tuna belly, but these were satisfactory. The service from the waitress was good. She had no other tables to wait on so I expected nothing less. I gave my dining experience at Koi Sushi a 3.5 star rating.

Koi Sushi took over under new management of it's former sushi restaurant, Yi Sushi. The storefront hasn't changed that yet but there is a banner that has the Koi Sushi title in front. Their menu was pretty extensive and offered a range of appetizers, sushi rolls, and cooked entrees to choose from. Plenty of seating was available and it has been a week since their opening but not too many people were here for Friday night. Our waitress was very nice and attentive and I ordered a few things to try. Jalapeno Poppers (4/5) - I would prefer the tuna to be raw instead of cooked inside the jalapeno because the reddish color looked a bit off putting, but they were crispy throughout our meal and was a great appetizer. Nigiris (3/5) - I got Yellowtail and Red Snapper nigiris. The cuts were nice but were just ok! Sake Sake Roll (3.5/5) - I liked how they didn't use a ton of rice and they were big rolls. Presentation was nice but could use more. This is an all salmon roll and they put a lot! Not too much of a fan of the sauce though Overall, I give this place a 3.5 stars but everything was satisfactory and reasonable for the price!

Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi. Didn't look to appealing but the fish was fresh.

Went her for a quick lunch meeting. Fish tasted fresh which is always good. Tried the volcano roll which wasn't my favorite. Two different types of sashimi. A mixed portion and the yellowtail appetizer. Overall the service was good. There was only a few other tables being waited on. They do offer an all you can eat for lunch or dinner, would maybe come back to try that to try the variety of their rolls but I wasn't overly impressed by the taste of their rolls or the presentation. There's plenty of parking which is a plus as well but on a busy day you might be looking for parking or park a little away.

Came here when it was empty, I was the only one seated. I opted for the ayce option and I should've known what I was getting into, when the server repeatedly pointed at the, "must finish all food" rule. I know every ayce places have the same rule, but this place is the only place in SD, that puts a TON of rice on their nigiri. After the server hands me the ayce menu, he then points at that rule, I submit my first round, server double checks my order, then POINTS at the rule again...I get it, you have to finish the food, don't need to tell me twice! First round came out pretty quickly, only nigiri was ordered. The second round took about 20-30mins. Not sure if they're just trying to run down the time, so you get full. Again, I was the only one seated. But, the second round came out separately. First set of nigiri was brought, then they waited until you finish, for them to bring the rest of the round out. Thought it was kind of annoying for them to time the food out, so you can get full. But, I can see why they do that, so they don't waste food. On my last round, I was waiting a while for them to make the order. The server took the menu, then told me the chef was going on lunch(waiting game again). I saw the chef walking towards a few tables away from me, to eat. So he couldn't wait to serve the food, then close me out? Considering, I was already on my last round. Thought restaurants would rather flip tables quickly, so they can be ready for people come in. Other than them serving ayce rice, the fish was pretty bland, nothing to rave about. Would rather drive up north for better ayce options.

What a great choice for dinner! The sushi here is delicious. Our waitress was amazing too and there were so many menu options. My kids loved it here too. A must try when you are in National City.

love the ACYE sushi offer! quality of sushi was great, and taste was amazing! the menu has a few options and variety to choose from for each round! service is OK, the server my bf and i had doesn't really engage in conversation.. lol very blunt and straight forward, can be viewed as rude for others but it is what it is! overall still highly recommend this place if you need a quick sushi fix!

Came here for some take out and they were quick to have the food ready which was a plus! Rolls were good and they have a good variety of special rolls! Also will be trying their happy hour next time when dining in.

Found this spot when we were shopping in the area. This place is a hidden gem. The service was great and they offer all you can eat sushi. We opted for the all you can eat sushi and got a sushi boat with our five rolls in it. The sushi was delicious and super fresh. This is now one of my favorite spots for all you can eat sushi. Can't wait to go back again and try different options.

TEMPO roll, delicious sushi with california rolles, grilled chicken, mochi desert in mango and green tea.

They only have a few selections on their menu. They specialize in the beef rib bone Cambodian…read morenoodle soup and they have huge spring rolls. The meat on the bones was so tender, it fell right off of the bone. Their broth is so delicious. Don't forget to taste that before you put in that bomb ass house chili oil. And to all the Cambodians from a Cambodian, it tastes better than most of your momas house, j/k, but I'm not, lol. The chili oil sauce is spicy, but that's how I like it. And oh, that sugar cane drink completed the whole meal. It was good and not too sweet, just the way I like it. The owners were great. They were so sweet and welcoming. Don't forget to order some of their Chili oil house sauce for the house. I would definitely come back again if I am in the San Diego area. I highly recommend this place. First let me start with the customer service, it was great, from the door to getting seated to the waiters checking on us & the cooks smiling & the speed & quality of the service was all great. And the prices are very reasonable, they don't open till 5 tho, for dinner basically, weekends can get busy so get there early. The food was very good, I got the Chula Vita Ramen & I'd get it again, very filling & flavorful. The sushi was very fresh & good & filling as well, Abre La Boca Mucho was our fav roll, it can be shared with another person for sure, Viva Chula Vista was a good roll too. Miso soup was ok & no garlic edamame they have lemon butter edamame, if you like lemon & butter flavor you'll like it, it was ok but it lack a bit of flavor for me. My fav item here was the Jalapeño Popper as an appetizer, 8 pieces & man let me tell you, it was mouth watering & on point, it's a must to start with. Overall I good little spot & we come again for sure, keep up the good work Naruto & see you soon :)
