This awesome company called me back and that alone I have to give them 5 stars. By the way, these guys were featured by KHON2 6pm news on March 19, 2026! (Even KHON2 mentions that only two companies returned their calls, Alakai being one of them). Tisha from Alakai Services and Roofing called me back right away on the same day I called. Honestly, I didn't expect anyone to come out on the same day when we were in the midst of this Kona low storm but they did! Tisha was an angel who was warm, friendly and understanding. She patiently listened to what we were facing at home. I was a nervous wreck especially since one problem area was in my room right above my bed! She reassured me that she will check their schedule and see when someone could come out. A few minutes later the owner Manny himself called me to say by chance, he could squeeze us in and he will send the guys to inspect the roof to give us a free estimate. His daughter Tisha went to bat for us and told her father that we really needed help so he sent his guys to check it out. Thank you Tisha, you're an angel! Julian and Eddie came about an hour later. Eddie was kind enough to fix the leak above my room during the inspection. It must've been pretty bad for him to take action. He did me a solid, because if we decided not to go ahead with it, it would've been for free. Julian and Eddie worked diligently and thoroughly to inspect the roof and came back with a fair and reasonable estimate and to my surprise told me that they could do it that same day! These guys were so awesome, because they came with a smile and worked through the rain that never stopped!! Most companies I'm told will not work in the rain. So grateful we found this company! Alakai Services and Roofing apparently has huge contracts with government, state and other commercial businesses. But they make sure to take care of the residential people like us. Manny informed me that he grew up in the business with his father and his father also took care of the local residents too. I can't stop singing their praises and again truly they were the angels sent to help us. Thank you Jesus! A huge thank you to Manny, Tisha, Julian and Eddie for being there to rescue our home. Now we can sleep peacefully knowing we are safe under our roof. I highly recommend Alakai Services and Roofing. However, they have not sent me any kind of quote. 2nd roofing company - 3/4 inspection, 3rd roofer - 3/23 inspection and last roofer - 4/1 inspection. ALL 3 no quotes. Oh and I contact another roofing company on-line twice in April with no response. They all came out fairly quickly to inspect, however, no quotes. Carson came out on a Saturday to do the estimate. Explained our timetable to him, and he said he would have the estimate to us in 2-3 days. After a week, I called, got their answering service, and asked when I would receive the estimate. They assured me the message would be relayed. NO CALL BACK. Another week passed, called again, and requested same. AGAIN, NO RESPONSE. Its since been nearly a month and I've yet to hear from them. Even sent a message on their online site, still NO CALLBACK OR RESPONSE. This has been a totally disappointing experience and a lack of courtesy. So sad for a local 'family' business. Its not possible to get anyone at the company on the phone, they dont return messages left, their email on the site comes back 'domain not found'. It seems Murakami roofing does not want to have contact with customers. Finding this out now may be a blessing, what if there was a roof leak later?

Apparently there were many cracked tiles, probably when panels were put in, tenting and/or neighbor's avocados. He checked for this type of tiles and the color. Recommended extra tiles because not many in my color which I did want. Rob and his helper went straight to work for many hours (in the hot sun and no breeze) due to the tile being slippery, not to cause further breakage and must do one at a time). They then carefully brought in the extra tiles for storage. Very happy with the work of Rob and advice on the care of the roof.

He was straightforward and honest in identifying that the leak was coming from the hot water heater panel joints--not the roof itself. Only one other responded by text on Monday, and another didn't call back until four days later. Rocky's responsiveness and professionalism really stood out.
