Chicken dumplings and bbq short ribs
    Alyssa L.

Tried this place after my brother recommended it and it did not disappoint! The overall look of the restaurant was nice and clean and the K-Pop videos playing in the background were a nice touch. I love Korean food but my mom had never really tried it. So we stayed safe and ordered both the chicken and pork dumplings which were delicious. She had the bbq short ribs and although they were a little tough to chew, the flavor was really good. I had the black bean noodles and they had a great flavor and nice chewy texture. I loved the yellow pickled radish too. I also ordered the beef bulgogi so we could both try! I asked for them to make it spicy and oh boy, that beef was SPICY! We love spice but eat with caution! It was still all delicious! Mom was a little disappointed they didn't have fried rice but I enjoy steamed rice with the beef and the kimchi. I love kimchi but this one did have an odd fishy after taste that I couldn't get past. The pickled radishes were tasty though! I just wish we would have had some broccoli or cucumber for my mom to try. We're not huge fans of any kind of seafood so we didn't try the calamari or fish cakes but they looked tasty if you're into those dishes. Our waitress was sweet and attentive but we wish she had been a little more knowledgeable about the way the dishes were prepared. Overall the experience was nice and we both enjoyed the food! Will definitely come back again and try their spicy pork bulgogi and maybe their loaded fries!

I haven't been to very many Korean restaurants. I've only been to one other in south McAllen and I LOVE it. We gave this one a try and it was ok, for me. It didn't taste as authentic compared to the other place I've tried. We ordered several dishes. The dumplings, the stone bibimbap, spicy pork bulgogi, beef bulgogi and loaded kimchi fries. The fries and the beef bulgogi were my favorite. The pork was good also, and just a little spicy. There was an event going on the day we went so service was really slow. We kept waiting on the bibimbap. We had already finished all the other dishes and were left waiting on that one dish. The waitress was friendly but never really came by. But again... the event. There was a crazy/strong smell of maybe paint, or varnish. Reminded me of Brasso, the metal polish cleaner. Maybe because this is a new spot but the smell was driving us nuts. They haven't been open too long so maybe the staff just needs to get into a better routine. We all said we would come back and try this place out again.

I'd give them more stars if it was an option, the kimchi is the freshest I've had here in the valley. We ordered the corn cheese, the stone bibimbap(always a hit) and the beef rib soup. So good and so filling. I think I've found my new favorite Korean spot

Service and atmosphere is great. As a Korean I want to give some honest opinions. The galbitang had great flavor and well-cooked rice, but the jjamppong missed the mark, likely because it's a Korean-Chinese fusion dish that's tough to perfect. The bibimbap was a letdown due to mushy rice and a stone pot that wasn't hot enough, which really undermines the core essence of Korean cuisine.

I had a takeout. Food is fresh, authentic, and delicious. It's not greasy, which is important to me. I will definitely return.

This is a sampler plate with fried dumplings.

Do not skip on this place. This was a breath of fresh air in Korean food. The owner is very passionate about what is on the menu. The decor is very cool and modern. The beef bulgogi is by far the most tender I've ever had. And don't skip on the loaded fries. I did have mine with the kimchi. Can't wait to be back and try the rest of the menu. Omar

Woah! This might be the best Korean food outside of California and the east coast. Damn I could have eaten two meals. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Awesome place, give it a try!

Every bite was delicious, fresh and a layered flavor of amazing textures and fresh taste! We will be coming back! Often!! Thank you for a healthy and fantastic dinner Kokiri Korean Bistro!!

Outstanding food and service. I am not a fan of kimchi, but there's was great and the rest of the meal was even better.

The worker was kind with her willingness to help me order since it was the first time. You order and pay on kiosk. You then receive a text of them receiving my order and then in a few minutes, I received a text that my order was ready for pick up. Because I didn't like the option drinks, I went to the store part and bought what I wanted. My husband ordered a stuffed potato with smoked turkey slices. My husband stated it was good but he removed some of the meat, it was over stuffed. I ordered a poblano & cheese sausage link sliced which came with 2 slices of bread, pickles, onions and bbq sauce; elote bowl and Serrano cornbread. The sausage was not spicy but with a little kick. The elote had pickled red onions on top and plenty of cotija cheese on top, with a lime wedge. The cornbread was not spicy but flavorful and moist. When I picked up my order, it was missing the trimmings for sausage but I walked over to the counter and let them know and they immediately made it right. We will be back to try more on the menu.

This Mexican BBQ master griller is hidden in a residential & business area by it's location and proximity to an auto mechanic you might just pass it on but man they can grill & Q. The owner came to my car and apologized cause they were almost out of meats but I was hangry after my gym and needed my protein!!! HUGE servings I got 1/2 lb of beef fajitas but I think she gave me a whole pound and a quarter chicken!Meats were so delicious and seasoned well very tender, came with in-house made corn tortillas, yes in-house made they are so soft and tender with the meats in them they were very delicious. Green hot sauce and tomato cilantro salsa kicked the whole thing up to the sky. Charro beans very juicy and a hint of heat, rice fluffy good! The pollo asado, be ready to lick your fingers on that one. The fajitas (carne asada) come mixed with some sausage that gives your tacos a flavor that will make you want to smack your momma for not cooking this good. The frijoles a la charra have an awesome bold spice and the Mexican rice is the best I've had that isn't out of my mom's kitchen. I ordered enough food for eight people...eight BIG people and we ate till our bellies were full. They all took leftovers and I still had enough to eat a full lunch with still more pollito to spare. All for $62 bucks. Easily one of the best spots I've found in El Valle.
