    KOKO

This is LA (Los Angeles) vibe sushi great fresh rolls and sashimi by far the best in Louisiana. The Bartenders Krystal and Cynthia are the most gracious and attentive never leave you with an empty glass and beautiful smile. Don't visit Monroe without going to KOKO, keep the bar high.!!!!

What a gem of a new restaurant! Kōkō's ambiance is inviting, modern, and upscale. Every bite of food was perfection! Our server Gwendolyn was wonderful. Highly recommend the sushi and the gin and tonic. Looking forward to returning soon.

We went to KoKo on a Saturday night and despite it being packed out the service was wonderful. started with the shishito peppers and the gyoza, and enjoyed both options. The peppers provided a kick without being uncomfortably hot and the miso carmel glaze was top notch. The gyoza was juicy, savory, and seared to perfection. My husband enjoyed the o-toro nigiri, however he would have preferred it without the light searing. He loved his Alaskan roll, and was able to ask for no cucumber so he appreciated that! I ordered the Pork Belly Kimchi Fried Rice and would give it two thumbs way up! Succulent and saucy pork belly that melts in yo ur mouth on top of a thick purple rice. I personally didn't mind, but it is worth noting that this isn't a traditional "fried rice" flavor like you would get at a hibachi steakhouse. We ended the night with the mochi flight and the plum dessert sake, it was the perfect way to end the meal! I also tried the purple pain killer cocktail and I was so happy I did. It reminded me of fruity pebbles.

It was late and we just wanted some Asian foods the last minute so we ordered a lot. We got: - Calamari tempura: Crispy, but a little too chewy and batter to somehow taste like onion. But still good with the spicy mayo. - Spicy Tuna: got as accommodation and surprisingly the best of the night. The perfect combination, crispy fried wonton, spicy tuna, avocado and sliced onion. So gooood. - Tom Kha: I usually would order Tom Yum but that night I was craving something creamy, so I got Tom Kha with seafoods. They loaded that thing up with a lot of meats. Wr did ordered Thai Spicy level but it is basically just level 1 to us, we didn't send back because it was late and we don't want to bother them. If you could it spicy go ahead and try Thai spicy level. - Beef Panang: They again loaded that thing up with a lot of beef. Flavor and creamy. You also can try Thai hot with this one. - Spicy Kani Rolls: Come with 8 pieces (but my husband ate 2 lol). A decent sushi rolls, good that we tried. Everything was good, the owner and staff were super nice and friendly. They also have a lot more of different varieties, definitely comeback and try more.

I also wanted to try the mango with sticky rice, but they did not have it available. It is likely a seasonal item. However, I will not be returning to this restaurant. When I arrived to pick up my food, I discovered they add a mandatory 15% automatic gratuity to all takeout orders. This unexpected fee was not made clear upfront. While the food is decent, forcing a tip on a carryout order without prior warning is a policy I cannot support.

Now I don't know if you know this, but Louisiana isn't exactly known for their sushi. Still, this place had good reviews and he was craving a spicy tuna roll like no other. The restaurant is located downtown, right down the street from Northwestern State University. The area is adorable and Hana has a really nice spot. We sat at the bar and were treated to a delicious crab and cucumber salad. We ordered 5 rolls, all averaging from $5-$10. Being used to New York City prices, this was a steal! The rolls came out about 5 or 10 minutes later and they were amazing. This place could easily rival any other expensive place I've gone to in the city. My favorite was the Tiger's Eye Roll. It had smoked salmon, cream cheese, and jalapeno covered in rice. The Spicy Tuna roll was very interesting. It tasted like the chef had rolled the tuna in jalapeno juice. It was too spicy for my liking but my boyfriend liked it a lot. We had another roll (maybe the rock and roll?) that was stuffed with snow crab, cucumber, jalapeno, and topped with tuna and crunchy. The pieces were so big they were hard to fit in my mouth! Regardless of the size, this roll was delicious. The Crawfish Roll was my boyfriend favorite. It had crawfish tempura, snow crab, and avocado. The sauce that was on it was amazing and the crawfish was absolutely perfect. Our check came and it was only $40. The only problem was we ordered 5 rolls but only received 4 rolls. Our waitresses had changed, so the new waitress didn't know quite what to do. The chef insisted that he gave us 5 rolls but unless two of the rolls only had 4 pieces (as opposed to the typical 8) then we only received 4 rolls. My boyfriend tried to explain that the other roll we ordered had shrimp tempura in it. Clearly, there were no tails leftover on our plates therefore we did not get the roll. The waitress was flustered and said the chef said he gave it to us. Finally, we told her to just run the card. So much for the customer always being right. The place was super dead for a Saturday night. The restaurant itself was so cute and charming, definitely a perfect date spot. The service is meh. We weren't there that long yet we had two or three different waitresses. Plus the whole debacle with the missing roll. Could've been handled better, for sure. All that being said, if I ever find myself in Natchitoches and craving sushi again, I will definitely be hitting up this place.

Had to go back out and find an employee, the people on the patio said they thought she was the only one working. Had a $14 Bloody Mary that should have been more like $6, just mix and vodka and a couple of olives. Didn't taste bad but pretty basic for $14. Had another down the street for $10 that was so much better. Plus, the server seemed like she would prefer we weren't there. Won't be back for sure.
