I'm a big taro milk tea guy and was happy to see they actually had some (I've run into a lot of places that do taro + something else but never just taro). The taste of the tea is alright. It's nothing special and could definitely be a bit sweeter. What killed me is the boba. The pearls were sometimes okay, sometimes tough, and sometimes too chewy. So let's be clear that this place wouldn't get 4 stars in a place that has a strong boba scene but for a boba spot in the middle of downtown? You could do a lot worse. First off, their menu is far more limited than the pictures on Yelp. They don't have a specialties section, just milk teas, smoothies and fruit teas. They do have non--milk teas but it's just not on the menu. The staff was pretty nice and they have a wide variety of topping options. I got the jasmine green tea with a 1/4 sweet and boba. The tea was fragrant and good. I liked the 1/4 sweet level (I don't like super sweet stuff), and the boba was chewy and not overcooked. Originally ordered a lychee green tea with tapioca, lychee jellies, and pineapple jellies and it came out to $9.65. I looked and it was $1/scoop of any jelly or boba. $1 for a little scoop ?!? The website looks like it's still under development, but my walk-in order was finished in under 2 minutes. Credit cards are accepted, but I believe other electronic payments still are not (example: Apple Pay). The menu is pretty straightforward. New bob tea place right at the circle- how cool! I am a boba tea lover and stopped at this place to try theirs on a Saturday night. The boba tea was great, but the service was very slow. It was probably 30 minutes before closing and there was only one person working. There were about 7-8 people ahead of me. What felt really odd to me is that he would just keep taking orders without making drinks for the customer that had already paid and were waiting. Instead he would just keep taking orders, about ten of them including mine, all while the first customer was patiently waiting. After he finished taking more than 10 orders at a time he finally started making drinks- I thought this would be a quick stop to pick up a boba tea but it ended up about 20 minute wait. I regret not going somewhere else. they probably need at least two people on weekends. One is definitely not enough. However the person working there was very pleasant and the tea was great. I love bubble tea and was so excited to try out this new place in downtown Indy! The other two tea shops on Mass Ave are both great so I wanted to see how this one compared. Sadly, it did not. For $7 I was expecting a higher quality tea. I wanted to get the Brown Sugar Boba, but they were out of the tea for that. I got the Taro Milk tea. The flavor was okay, but it had a powdery flavor towards the bottom. The real issue is the Boba. The boba had no flavor and had a very bad texture. I actually couldn't eat any after the first few. The outside of the boba was so soft it just broke apart and the inside was hard like it was not cooked! There was no Brown Sugar flavor in them either. Very disappointing. I will give Koko Tea one more shot to see if maybe I came on an off day. I love the location so I really want this place to be the best. The quality of the cup and lid were spot on though. New boba shop on the block! Tons of cool flavors and mixes I haven't seen elsewhere. While the price is a little high, when you factor in the extra charge from boba usually, it comes out about the same. I got the earl grey brown sugar milk tea at 75% and it was still a little too sweet for me so I would get 50% next time but the boba texture was great and I loved the floral coming from the earl grey. The boba cups are nice quality and could definitely be reused. I would love to see some kind of cup recycling program. And they had a machine for contactless ordering though it was off when I visited. Unfortunately I have to take a star off because one of the baristas played with a customer dog and didn't use sanitizer or wash her hands before going back to the bar.
