The kolaches here can be really good if you catch them fresh out of the oven early in the morning. However, if you come a bit later, they often taste dry and like they've been sitting under heat lamps for too long. Selection is also very limited closer to closing time. read more

Great location and tastey food however lately there is a huge issue with the employees parking right in front of the entrance! The parking lot is limited and these four employees are parking their cars right in the spaces in front of the door. We need more Kolache Factories scattered throughout Indianapolis. If you've never been to one you're in for a treat. They have sweet or savory Kolache's. They're loaded full with great ingredients and have a very light bread surrounding the ingredients. You can have your Kolache's warmed up if you want or served room temperature. This months "Kolache of the Month" is the Cheeseburger Kolache. Those are so good! They have so many different types of kolache's to choose from. I have had the sausage and gravy kolache and liked it as that's my favorite breakfast food. Anyway, that was a side note. The Philly cheesesteak one sounds really good! The staff member behind the counter was very nice and fast. You can have your kolaches warmed up if you choose. They have a few booths but not much seating. Most people order to go but not all. I wanted to try several different products since I have never been here before. Brought the home to share with hubby. I likes the Chipotle chicken one the best. The bread is so soft. I also had one with egg and potatoes. That one could have had a little more flavor. Had a apple filled one that was really good and the long cinnamon stick. (Maybe even today!) They have a KOTM... this month was Mac n cheese! It's phenomenal! I could eat an entire bowl of it! It's was spicy, cheesy, with little bits of brisket. Not for young children...the jalapeño is the star in this one. My 10 year old raved about it...I passed it to the backseat and it never returned. He smashed it! I'm sad it's ending at the end of the month...this should be a regular. We tried the philly... it was just okay. Great flavor, but for me...It needs more cheese. We tried the cream cheese... good. It's got little curds of cheese in it which might be a texture challenge for some. I prefer smooth cream cheese. We tried ham n cheese croissant... yep! It's ohhhh do buttery good! The ham is minced inside so you get lots of ham in each bite. We tried the mild and hot polish... saving those for later, but I'm hoping they are just as delish as their other flavored friends. The line moves quickly. They have microwaves under the register and will warm your treats, by request. Open at 7. They close at 2. Decided to try out the Kolache Factory after receiving a buy 3 get 3 free coupon in the mail. Never having a Kolache before, basically these are sweet or savory filled dinner roll like pastries that taste much better if you eat them warm! For our selection, we got potato & egg, sausage & egg, bacon & egg, Florentine, chocolate and cream cheese, and strawberry jelly...basically way too much food for 2 people but for the sake of the coupon why not try more. These Kolaches were good, but I don't see them as my go out of the way to buy them again good. I was looking for a little more flavor in the savory options...maybe some seasoning to kick up the taste. The strawberry jelly tasted like a dinner roll that someone put like Welches jelly on...very good but I could do that myself. Personally the standout flavor was the chocolate and cream cheese. I would say it is worth it to try them out, seeing that it is a unique and different breakfast option than the typical donut or breakfast diner, but just not an option I would personally go out of my way for again! read more

My husband spent some years of his childhood living in Houston and has fond memories of mornings filled with kolaches (kolache shops are everywhere in Houston!). I'll have to give it another try but the experience was meh and the Kolache was a-okay. I have stopped by the Kolache factory on multiple occasions and usually get take-out, but today I decided to sit down inside and enjoy them. Most people get them to-go, but they do have a small seating area inside with some tables and booths. For starters, the Kolache factory caters to breakfast, and as such they open early and close by 2pm. They have several breakfast options (sausage egg and cheese, bacon egg and cheese, sausage and gravy, etc), but also have unique flavors like bbq beef, italian chicken, polish dogs, and pizza. They also always have a "kolache of the month", which for January 2020 happened to be "country breakfast", which comes with eggs, sausage, gravy, hash browns and onions. I usually get two different kinds and am pretty full, but today I decided to get a third to have for later. The flavors are always delicious and the dough is always soft and sweet. They have microwaves under the counter, and will heat them up if you want (highly recommended). Most of the kolaches cost between $2-3. They also serve coffee, juices and sodas. Kolaches have quickly become one of my new favorite foods. My go to is the sausage egg and cheese. Every. Time. I have branched out and tried others- 2nd favorite is philly cheesesteak. I did not like the steak and eggs at all- way too much pepper flavor but only available during its featured month. Other options that are enjoyable are the egg and cheese, italian chicken, and spinach and cheese. But, rarely will I choose any other option over egg and cheese. You should definitely sign up for their emails if you enjoy coming here. They will send out coupons usually at least once a month to use to get some free. I'm a fan of the chain, but this location was below standard. The cashier offered to warm up the kolaches, but when we sat down to eat them; they were barely warm. No fresh creamer or milk for the coffee, Limited options on other drinks and wouldn't even give me a cup of water: after we drop almost $30 here on a bunch of them to sample for breakfast. The icing of the mediocre experience was the cinnamon twist; which didnt taste fresh at all. So my chance to introduce my son to this chain on our way to IU was a big disappointment. read more

I love kolaches but the experience leaves something to be desired. We usually eat them there, but maybe it's best to nuke them at home. Between the two of us we had a total of six Kolaches: ranchero (somewhat spicy), 2 egg/cheese/sausage (sausage heavy on the sage), pecan pie and cream cheese. The pastry is so unique and it tastes good with everything. Disappointed they didn't automatically give my companion the ranchero/coffee combo price but it was only .20 less, so not a big deal. They have done away with the soda fountain and now serve only bottled Coke and Prairie farm products. Katz coffee is self-serve from big air pots. I found the giant napkin dispensers on each table too functional; made it feel like Sam's club. read more
