The cashier withheld my coin change without my consent and failed to provide a receipt. When I noticed that later, I considered it completely insignificant and not worth returning to the store for such a small amount. My only intention was to inform them that withholding even a penny without the customer's consent is not acceptable, and I had absolutely no intention of creating conflict, so that I called to inquire. The cashier herself aggressively stated, "Sorry, I forgot to tell you we don't give back cents in this store." When I objected to taking a customer's money without permission, even if it was one penny, saying in Arabic, "ما أُخذ بالحياء فهو حرام" (which means what is taken without permission is forbidden), she shouted a vulgar insult ("Eat sh*t!") and hung up the phone. When I called back immediately, the owner answered, but he allowed the same cashier to scream loudly in the background, using highly offensive and derogatory cultural remark against me. She literally said in Arabic, "بعرفش اتعامل مع النَّوَر", which is a deeply offensive meaning "I don't know how to deal with low-class people." The owner did absolutely nothing to stop her or reprimand her. After all of what happened on the phone, I returned to the store to demand my receipt as proof and legally recorded the interaction for my safety. On camera, the employee proudly admitted to cursing at me over the phone. When asked to apologize, she aggressively refused, saying "In your dreams (فشرتي)." The owner refused to hold her accountable and only offered a hollow apology himself. This whole experience makes me seriously wonder: Do they have any hiring standards at all? Do employees receive any customer service training whatsoever? Anyway, I have submitted all the evidence I have to the Ohio authorities. (P.S. In case you wonder why I didn't ask for the cents before leaving the store, I literally didn't notice the shortage until I got home because I was completely distracted with my daughter, who was a little bit fussy at the register, so I honestly didn't catch how much change she handed back.)

A great ethnic grocery store with a wonderful deli counter!…read more This place has the best hummus in town, bar none! It's always fresh (they sell tons of it, so no worries about it being old), never oily, extremely smooth without any dominate flavors. It's simply amazing! they have amazing salads, falafel, kabobs, etc. They have fresh pita bread every day, a real treat! Oh, their kafta pies are outrageously great! Honestly, they're all great, but I love the kafta. Perfectly seasoned, perfect pastry, etc. If you want feta, they always have at least 3 choices, and the prices are better than anywhere else in Toledo. Their produce is usually great. Once in a while you'll get something that's a little older than you'd like, or it's lacking flavor, but produce is all natural, so these things can be hard to control. They have great shelf-stable things like olive oil, spices, grains, etc. They have a great olive bar, refrigerated/frozen items, nuts, dried fruits, etc. Need puff pastry or phyllo, no need to go anywhere else. My only quibble is one of the guys working behind the butcher counter isn't always that friendly. I try to wait until he's busy and then get served by one of his co-workers. The place is always spotless and it's in a very safe part of town! I can't recommend this place strongly enough to anyone who loves Middle Eastern food! OMG, I think I need to go there for lunch today!

At the latter, you can order different types of baklava by the pound - it was good! There's a freezer/fridge section, with bread, meals, and more. Several rows of dry goods, including many imported sweets, teas, coffee, and more! Customer service was very friendly. I look forward to returning!

Middle East Market - What kinda milk?!?! If it wasn't sold out, I would have tried some. I'll give you a buck if you take a sip.
