My husband, son and I had a private 90 minute ride with Morgan this morning. We had been riding at a Tanque Verde ranch all week in the beginning half of our vacation but I have to say without a doubt that this was the best ride of the week. It is well run, the horses are healthy and the ride was not a nose to tail ride. Morgan was a great wrangler and we were lucky enough to see several coyotes and the resident herd of wild mustangs. One of the best riding experiences!. I was a bit nervous since it has been so long that I have been on a horse but Blass, our guide, was very helpful and provided tips. The scenery was absolutely stunning and I got to see a mock sun!. During our ride, Blass was very entertaining and I learned a lot about the land and history. Please read until the end. This was the best trail ride experience I have ever had. I have been riding for 13 years. I wanted to ride while on vacation in chandler, and had no idea where to go. I found koli online. I booked myself a private solo ride a day ahead of time, which was decently priced. It was worth every penny. I took an inexpensive uber there. I chose to do the earliest ride possibly, and it was totally worth getting up early. The heat wasn't bad at all, and there were plenty of animals out and about. My wrangler was very experienced and knowledgeable. He taught me all about the history of the area, native plants and of course the animals there. He gave me a wonderful horse to ride, I was very happy to have a sensitive horse because I am an advanced rider. The wrangler took me off into the desert and within several minutes I had my first encounter with wild horses!!!!!! I will never forget this my entire life!!!!! They came right up to us! I was five feet from a herd of mustangs. We saw two herds of wild horses, and several babies. It was incredible!!! Absolutely one of the best riding experiences I have ever had!!!!! Amazing! A group of colleagues and I went on the early morning ride after we finished an event that we had in the area and it was just want we needed after a long weekend. The early morning ride allowed us to be with the horses at the start of the day and allowed us plenty of time to ride before leaving Phoenix. The morning was crisp and bright. We went on a ride as a package deal from Aji Spa. One of the guests in my group had two awful experiences on horses in the past and was extremely nervous to join us. The guide did a great job selecting a very calm horse for her, and regularly checked in that she, and the rest of the group, was comfortable. They were awesome. My girlfriend made a reservation in advance for their margarita sunset ride. Our guide was very helpful, as I had never been on a horse before. The ride ended up being just the three of us, and he did a great job of keeping us entertained. He knew a lot about the land around him and the history, which he shared with us. It was very interesting. He even stopped to take our pictures, which seemed like it was pretty routine for him. I'm not a big margarita fan so I can't tell you if that was good or not, but the ride, facilities and staff were great. read more

We are a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children, ages 7 to 16). We had a fantastic experience at Koli. We arrived late due to our own mistake, but Chuck was so friendly and accommodating. We had an amazing time! The landscape was beautiful and Chuck was informative and very fun to ride with! It was by far our best riding experience as a family. The 1.5hrs just flew by and the kids didn't want to leave their horses :) They're asking to come back to Arizona again, just so they can go riding at Koli! read more

GOT ENGAGED ON HORSEBACK!! My birthday is Monday, January 14th and my boyfriend (now fiancé) surprised me with a private guided tour on horseback the Saturday before. In the middle of our tour in the beautiful desert on the reservation he proposed, I had no idea. It was an amazing experience, we got to ride very well trained beautiful horses, even saw many wild ones and other wildlife. Our guide Robert made it such a great time, very knowledgeable and friendly, and our photographer for the moment lol. After the tour was a surprise party at the center with our friends and family. The outside covered patio area where we had our engagement/ birthday party was very well kept. They set up tables and chairs, very green grass and trees were great for all our pictures. Games to play and horses to visit with, they offer guided tours, private or group, horseback riding lessons, parties and more. Was a great time will definitely be going again and possibly often, was so much fun riding horses, what amazing animals. Thanks KOLI!! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton on this property and came across Koli. I signed us up right away. We were pretty lucky, there was only the 2 of us by fluke. Both of our horses were great! My husband's horse, Ringo is actually a rescue and we were so sad to hear his story however the work and effort that Koli's staff have put in to heal him was amazing to hear. Unlike other tours, you don't need to ride in a line, the horses know the trail and all walk beside each other which allows for great conversations with your fellow riders. The trail through the desert, with the mountain views and the beautiful weather is absolutely breathtaking. We saw many jack rabbits and learned about some of the common desert plants. If you forget to wear sunscreen, Koli has an array of different ones available to use at no charge and upon coming back from the ride, they provide cold bottles of water. The shuttle from the hotel was free as well. I would highly recommend this excursion from beginners to seasons riders. read more

Horrible customer service. I purchased three discount coupons through Enamor for trail rides, and tried to reserve dates/times for us to go ride several times through phone calls and emails. Each time I was either not called back or not emailed back. In the end, the vouchers expired without having used them due to never being able to schedule a time to ride. I wish someone would have at least attempted to help me out so I could take my kids for the trail ride, as it seemed like it would be a lot of fun. Due to not being able to experience Koli in its entirety, I cannot review the actual facility or trail rides, but I know that they have to work harder to keep their customers happy. I even contacted them to try to get my money back, and they have not responded. I hope someone else has better luck with them. read more

Went for a group ride with colleagues. We were put on horses that were for experienced riders when most if us were not. We expected a "butt to nose" trail ride. This was a free for all, horses switching leads ride. That made things dangerous because some horses would get too close to others and the horse I front would get mad. That and we had to keep from hitting each other. The "trail" was hilly, dusty and full of holes the horses tripped over. We were also informed that the helmets offered were more for the potential golf ball striking us. The commands we learned were left, right and woah. When the horses decided to trot, I couldn't hold on or stop my horse. That being said, it was clean, horses well cared for, guides nice, but do not go unless you have experience with horses. read more

I had such an incredible experience here. This was my first horseback riding experience, and I'm so thankful I picked Koli Equestrian! First off, the price was very affordable. $50 for an hour ride. Secondly, we picked the best time to go riding. It was 6 PM, and the land was mostly empty of other riders. We caught the sunset, and the amazing changes of light in the desert sky. The landscape was unreal. We were on the Gila River Indian Reservation, so there was natural, undeveloped land for miles. It was perfectly picturesque fraught with magical wildlife and desert flora. The ride was slow and easy. Our guide was incredibly charming. He was young, but very mature and knowledgeable. He introduced to us the history of the Reservation, some of the basic beliefs of the Pima and Maricopa, and he had great insight about the plants and animals we occasionally passed. The horses were obedient and kept with the slow consistent pace. They respond immediately to cues, which was important to me since I am not an experienced rider. Overall, this was just a magical experience and made my trip to Arizona very powerful! I highly recommend this place. read more

I had booked a private ride. I have been on horses over 25 years, I own my own horse. I emailed the place before and told them I was looking to only trot the horse on a private ride, because I am an advanced rider, I prefer not to be walking the whole time. It is pretty, but it gets boring to me. I received a response of 'Once you demonstrate your ability, the staff member will set the pace of the ride. We do not run our horses. You may be able to do light trot / canter. This is due to our desert terrain and wild life that burrow in the ground.' My wrangler was amazing (silvia), she was sweet and nice and from the Res. so she knew a lot about the land and horses and she was amazing. We went out to the wild horses and it was great and so neat to see. I got the impression that if I had asked to trot the horses then she would have let me, but I also got the feeling that she knew nothing about my email and nothing about the response. The horses were great, very nicely broke and not follow the leader type horses at all so that is great. I would probably go back, but it is not a place to trot your horse, because like the email said, there are a lot of burrows in the ground. But if you are looking for a chill and relaxing ride, with wonderful horses and great staff, then this is your place by far! read more

My husband and I took our two children 7 & 9 on vacation during the Christmas break to Wild Horse Pass in Arizona. It was our first time to Arizona and our dream to ride in the desert. We booked two trail rides. The first was with the group. There were all different level riders and all age groups. Having been on trail rides before and having served as a guide in my youth, I was very impressed at the level of professionalism. They put the safety of the riders first, with a guide placed closed to the youngest and least experienced riders. They let nothing get past them. Everyone came back with nice things to say, happy and laughing. Our private ride was even better. We were taken out on a different trail in search of the wild horses. We spent time chatting with the guide and learning about the reservation and the creatures that inhabit the land. We trotted as much as my 7 year old requested and at a safe pace. I am a cautious person when it comes to horses and I felt very secure especially with the guide who never left my 7 year-olds side. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and horses at Koli Equestrian. We came away feeling like we have gained new friendships and cannot wait to go back so we can ride every day and add private lessons to our agenda. read more
