At check in the lady was really nice, accommodating when showing us on a map what was around, etc. Card was asked to put on file for accidentals. At check out, I got my deposit back within the next day. There is only one entrance and exit. It's the same door, and the entrance can definitely be missed if you're not looking for it. Entrance is on 7th St not Broadway. Once we got to our room we noticed it was basically an open concept apartment, equipped with a kitchen, full size fridge with ice maker, full size sink, full size dishwasher, and full size stove/oven. Pots/pans, utensils, etc are all provided inside the cabinets. Upon booking a 1 bedroom with two queens I assumed it would be both beds in the same room, but it wasn't. The room had one queen bed and a walk in closet. No tv. The other queen bed was in the open concept living room area immediately upon walking in the door. Both beds might've been the same mattress but felt different. Both were very comfortable though. Restroom had two parts. You open the main door and it's the shower/tub combo and then you walk into the next room and it's the sink & toilet. No issue with our overnight stay of 4 women. The only complaint was the hallway to the floor we stayed on reeked of weed. Elevators worked, workers were nice and accommodating, even when we asked for more pillows and towels we just had to go down the desk and grab them. I should mention that on other review sites that it states this hotel has a rooftop bar. It does NOT. There is a bar, and it's literally at the check in desk. The lobby is very small and it doesn't support a whole lot of people in the room. Also hotel is not equipped with a pool. Another note, this hotel is smack dab in downtown. There's a lot of characters, a lot of funky smells, and things that go bump in the night during the day. So if you don't want to hear sirens and random characters yelling or what not from outside...this place ain't for you.

The area is busy, like any downtown, but we felt safe the entire time. The building has secure entry, friendly staff, and thoughtful safety measures like key card access for the elevator. Our two-bedroom apartment was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. We also enjoyed the rooftop and gym. Some reviews mentioned being close to Skid Row, but we had no issues. Overall, a great experience--highly recommend if you're staying in DTLA!

The staff in particular is phenomenal and extremely responsive -- front desk, back office, plumbers, electricians, security guards, absolutely everyone we've encountered. They take their jobs seriously and it makes all the difference in how this place feels to live. I use the pool, hot tubs, and gym regularly and having them is a big quality of life improvement. The building also hosts social events to help people get to know their neighbors, and everyone I've met here is really lovely -- it's nice, especially in a big city, to regularly get to run into people e.g. out on dog walks who you actually know and have a chat with them! Our apartment is clean and pleasant with great views of the city, and really well-located in terms of grocery stores, pharmacies, coffee shops, etc., as well as public transit, which I rely on primarily. The Met is an older building, so we've definitely had a few maintenance issues during our time here, but our work orders have always been responded to immediately and taken seriously and the issues we've encountered were always dealt with promptly by friendly and professional staff! If you're looking for a well-priced place downtown, I would highly recommend checking it out.

The grounds and public areas are always well taken care of at this complex and the street overall is quite beautiful. Abel and his maintenance crew were always efficient and kind whenever I needed them for a fix or a quick replacement of apartment features (screen doors, air filters, paint touch-ups, drains cleared, etc.. There is ample parking per-unit in the two basement levels with elevator access. If it weren't for employment reasons, I would have gladly stayed longer and will certainly take with me some great memories of my time there. Nadia and Christian are both wonderful, friendly people who always have time to hear how everything is with you and your apartment. I have to say...anything you may read in any negative Yelp reviews must definitely be coming from problematic tenants who did not care to follow the basic common-sense rules that make all the tenants able to live in peace and with respect for everyone. Honestly, that is all that I can think it must be. Nadia is a very kind, understanding, generous and amazingly patient person and I will miss her and all the staff of The Chateau! These are true lofts (mix of owned and leased residents) with high ceilings and exposed ceilings, concrete pillars, and industrial windows. My unit faced the courtyard so it was super quiet. Neighbors for the most part were nice and courteous, but since the pandemic, the quality of tenants definitely declined, as it seemed some of these owners just wanted someone to fill their units. Neighborhood watch is active and present, which I really appreciated since I'm a single girl living alone in a sketchy area literally bordering Skid Row. Neighborhood wise, I won't comment on much since the building literally borders Skid Row. However, come inside those gates and the building itself was maintained well. I always saw housekeeping staff tidy up common areas, neighbors weren't afraid to call out messy neighbors, and there was definitely a sense of community which is rare these days. Some units come with two parking spaces (there is a huge 5-story parking lot adjacent to the lofts, with plenty of guest parking, totally unheard of in DTLA). I was one of the few lucky ones with two parking spaces, so I used to rent one out to a neighbor. There is a small gym with the essentials, don't expect Equinox. I think I used the pool and jacuzzi a handful of times. Barbecue grill is also available, but only used it once and it worked just fine. Can't really comment on HOA since I leased, but the concierge manager, Robert, was amazing. He was always responsive and courteous. Security staff were a hit or miss, but they were always friendly.

*** BEWARE OF BED BUGS ***…read more I moved to LTL back in August 2013 and it has been nothing but a nightmare. We actually paid for an extra 2 weeks of rent to have enough time to clean and paint our place to have it ready for move in at the end of July. When we first came over to clean and paint the place everything looked okay and I noticed there were some dead bugs around and didn't think too much of it, I picked one of them up and it looked like a tick. It was dead, so I never really thought anything about it, I just thought maybe the previous owner had a dog. We finished moving in and maybe about 4 weeks after the move I kept waking up with bites on my body, which I thought were mosquito bites. That went on for about a week, one day I was giving my friend a ride and he is an apartment manager and asked what was all over my arms and I said mosquito bites. He looked at them and told me that those were not mosquito bites and they looked like bed bug bites, he told me exactly what to look for and to go home and look for them on my couch and bed (mind you I have never seen what bed bugs look like or had any contact whatsoever). I came home and didn't have to look far, they were nesting on my tufted headboard. I went downstairs and talked to the community manager and asked her if there was a bed bug problem in the building, she was busy so she casually said "oh, yes. We have had that problem for a while, I'm busy right now so I'm going to ask that you please email me and I will get back to you." I got back to my place and wrote her an email and she took 10 days to respond and sent me the letter where it detailed there is a bed bug problem since 04/2013 and asked for me to call an exterminator. I worked things out with the unit owners and they have been nothing, but helpful and accommodating during this whole process. We have spent countless hours prepping, lost sleep over this and keep waking up in the middle of the night to check if the bed bugs are there. We were finally able to pack the whole place in December and had the place fumigated and the problem stopped for 2 1/2 months. Last week I was on the couch and got a bite on my hand and went to look for the little bastards and they are back. I contacted my unit owner and told them what was going on and that the bed bugs are back. The owner tried to get the community manager involved and she is trying to wash her hands and state that when our place first got fumigated there was no evidence of bed bugs and that I was possibly making the whole thing up to try to break my lease without having to pay a lease breakage fee. She also implied that we might have fleas and that all the bed bug reports have came back negative. If there were no bed bug problems, why would they have sent out the letter back on 04/25/2013 indicating there was a problem. I have pictures of the bed bug bites and also pictures of the actual bed bugs which I have sent to my landlord. She had the audacity to state that I asked the pest control technician to lie on the report to help me get out of my lease and that the information could be verified by calling the pest control company. I called the pest control company and was told that they never told her that and confirmed that I never asked for them to lie on any reports. This has turned into a nightmare and do not wish this upon anyone. Keep in mind the negative feedback is for the building management and their way of handling this issue and not the owner or the facilities. If I could do it all over again, I would go spend a little more money and rent somewhere else. Simple requests such as adding someone to a lease or getting clarification on contracts can take weeks for management to respond to, if they respond at all. To make matters worse, I was sent important lease documents the same day I moved in, which felt rushed and unprofessional. Communication throughout my tenancy has been poor and frustrating. The property also does not feel secure or properly managed. There are frequently homeless individuals directly outside the building, creating an uncomfortable and at times unsafe environment for residents and guests. Despite the premium pricing, the overall living experience does not match what is advertised. Management is extremely restrictive and difficult to work with. Residents are treated more like liabilities than valued tenants. Even basic situations, such as attempting to replace a damaged car window in the garage, became unnecessarily complicated instead of being handled reasonably. For the amount this building charges, I expected professionalism, responsiveness, and a safe living environment. Instead, the experience has been stressful, poorly managed, and disappointing overall. I would strongly recommend future renters carefully review all policies and consider other options before signing a lease here.
