I booked through Priceline a 2 queen bed in a 1 bedroom suite so I had to do a pre-payment which probably helped during check in. At check in the lady was really nice, accommodating when showing us on a map what was around, etc. Card was asked to put on file for accidentals. At check out, I got my deposit back within the next day. There is only one entrance and exit. It's the same door, and the entrance can definitely be missed if you're not looking for it. Entrance is on 7th St not Broadway. Once we got to our room we noticed it was basically an open concept apartment, equipped with a kitchen, full size fridge with ice maker, full size sink, full size dishwasher, and full size stove/oven. Pots/pans, utensils, etc are all provided inside the cabinets. Upon booking a 1 bedroom with two queens I assumed it would be both beds in the same room, but it wasn't. The room had one queen bed and a walk in closet. No tv. The other queen bed was in the open concept living room area immediately upon walking in the door. Both beds might've been the same mattress but felt different. Both were very comfortable though. Restroom had two parts. You open the main door and it's the shower/tub combo and then you walk into the next room and it's the sink & toilet. No issue with our overnight stay of 4 women. The only complaint was the hallway to the floor we stayed on reeked of weed. Elevators worked, workers were nice and accommodating, even when we asked for more pillows and towels we just had to go down the desk and grab them. I should mention that on other review sites that it states this hotel has a rooftop bar. It does NOT. There is a bar, and it's literally at the check in desk. The lobby is very small and it doesn't support a whole lot of people in the room. Also hotel is not equipped with a pool. Another note, this hotel is smack dab in downtown. There's a lot of characters, a lot of funky smells, and things that go bump in the night during the day. So if you don't want to hear sirens and random characters yelling or what not from outside...this place ain't for you. read more

Loved Our Stay at The Haas! Great location in the heart of downtown LA--close to restaurants, shops, museums, and nightlife. The area is busy, like any downtown, but we felt safe the entire time. The building has secure entry, friendly staff, and thoughtful safety measures like key card access for the elevator. Our two-bedroom apartment was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with a full kitchen and two bathrooms. We also enjoyed the rooftop and gym. Some reviews mentioned being close to Skid Row, but we had no issues. Overall, a great experience--highly recommend if you're staying in DTLA! read more

Stayed here for 3 nights mid week. We liked out unit - a loft with two beds. The building is cool. Pauline at the front desk was excellent checking us in and answering questions. The floors were clean - it passed our test of not making the bottom of our socks filthy (like many places do!). The cleaners missed some spots like the backs of the tvs. The plumbing is old but is overlookable due to the charm. Would definitely stay here again. read more

I had to circle around 3 times before getting dropped off to find out where to park. ---There is a parking garage directly across the street at $15 per day when you enter. Cash only! The Ugly.....On the day we checked out, as we were trying to fit the garage at 11am, a young girl with fake lips asked for $15 to leave! Talking about the entrance fee we paid for was only good from 6am to the next day 6am and that signs were posted. They never asked us for payment anytime we left otherwise. I never have cash but lucked out this time with my son having cash. There is a locked entrance with a doorbell. They have to buzz you in or you use your door key. FYI: You can't check in before 3pm. It was about 2pm and I asked to checkin to drop off my luggage before I headed to my event and they said absolutely not, not until 3pm. It was frustrating because I made a special 40 minute trip to do so. It's a small lobby area. The room was very spacious and clean. We got a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and bath. It was well updated. The workmanship was subpar though. The bed was creaky. Made so much noise when I moved. They have blackout blinds. At night you can hear emergency sirens which makes it hard to sleep. There are plenty places to walk. 10 minutes to Grand market for a variety of food. Walk right out the building. 15 minute walk to Santee Alley. They had their annual Broadway Night Lights going on this weekend so it would be a prime spot for that. very disgusting and disappointing service. ginger dude told me it was okay to have a party, but then backed out cause he would "get in trouble" If you knew it wasn't allowed then you shouldn't have said okay. Then all of a sudden he said only 4 people can be in the room when I was not told that at first. I am an event planner so I know how this works, he just underestimated my knowledge cause of my age. He wouldn't allow my friends to come inside the building and wait for their ubers even though it was homeless people outside yelling and harassing them. Then proceeded to tell me he's been working here for serveral years and they'll be "fine" even tho i'm à LA native and know how downtown is. While my friends and I was moving to a different location, my other friend needed to use the bathroom. I told her we can go to my room (it was only 2 people up there, so that'll make 4) and had security make her use the lobby restroom even tho it was my PAID room and she had every right to use the restroom. My guest was not loud, ghetto or causing a ruckus. I completely understand the whole "no party" service when it comes to certain locations, but if I ask you constantly, double check, repeat what you said & you say okay and then randomly back out cause you scary? you shouldn't have approved it in the first place . This Hotel is a shit show and needs a-lot of work! I rented a "skyline View" $600 for two nights Fri -Sun... they say to park at a parking garage across the street so iI went there and they said $20 until 6 am but u can not come and go.... ummm vacation means we wanna come and go. So we go to the second one the recommend and same thing I find a spot caddy corner that allows me to come and go but is surrounded by homeless people and a smell so terrible ( truly heartbreaking) but also unsafe. Upon arrival I ask about my service dog and if i need to pay its fine but that it was very confusing because it says on the apps they allow animals and Service animals and then when you sign the paper it says it's a $250 fee to have them on property if you're caught but then they offer upon check-in, a $25 a night stay for the animals so really just all around confusing information. The lady looks at my dog's card and says no worries. We're not gonna charge you anything and there will not be a deposit because I can see you were texting our person inquiring about it and they were not giving information so I get the key and we all go to the room..... once we get in we realize we are looking at a parking garage and there's maybe two buildings that could possibly make for a Skylin view of two buildings. It's really just not a view and so I go down and I ask the lady if she's sure this is my room because I paid a lot of money for a Skylin view and so she moves me up exactly 2 floors from 902 to 1102 so we're just higher up off the parking garage and we really cannot see crap. Upon getting in the elevator, the first time the door just closes rapidly and hits one of the girls. This happens quite a few times during our stay and the elevators are very slow to open once they stop it almost makes you feel like they're not gonna open at all. They really need to be serviced. They hit multiple kids as they were just trying to walk in the elevator. The staff was not helpful at all, and the rooms were just completely unclean. Do not say at this hotel, it is definitely not a true Wyndham hotel. It is falsely advertised and needs a lot of work. read more

I really want to give a better review because my room was good and they allowed my cat to share the room with me. However, they overcharged me $150 for the pet rent. I was told by the front desk clerk it was $25 per night and I stayed 2 nights. They charged me $100 for each night. There is a $50 credit on the bill reversing a pet charge but the 2 charges for $100 remain on the bill. I have called the front desk, the manager (Saul) and continue to text the manager with follow up requests. He has told me on the phone and via text that he will issue a refund but it has been 3 weeks since I checked out and I have requested the refund 3 times. I have contacted my credit card and placed a complaint and a request for the $150 credit. I am waiting for a reply from the manager. read more

Such a great find downtown. We had an event to attend at Union Station and looking for a place to stay in DTLA that is safe, hotel-quality, and affordable is virtually impossible, but I would definitely recommend The Haas. The front door is always locked and you have to be buzzed in. There is someone there to do so 24/7. We had no issues getting in and out anytime of the day and the staff was super nice and made re-entry hassle-free. There are quite a few places to eat and shop that are easily walkable. We had toddlers with us and I felt totally comfortable walking them down the street to Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen every morning for breakfast! The room was so much nicer than expected, considering the price. It was actually really spacious! The kitchen is fully stocked - great for an extended stay. You have all the linens and basic bathroom necessities available. The TVs are ready to go with all the streaming services, and we never had an issue with the WiFi. The only downside is the parking situation. They don't have their own parking lot so you have to find an off-site lot and pay the fee. I'd recommend unloading in front of the hotel, and then moving your car because you'll have a bit of a walk. There is one lot directly across the street, but it's a little sketchy and it's cash-only (and the elevator was out of service when we stayed). A much nicer parking lot is about a block and a half up at St. Vincent Ct, but it's not open 24/7 so if you are arriving late, you may not be able to park there. Overall, great stay. We felt comfortable and had everything we needed - except parking - but anytime I need to stay a couple nights in DTLA, I'll definitely make this place my go-to. read more

First, what was excellent: Checkin was easy and fast as we were up in our room in no time. The loft we got had a bed in each bedroom (2) and a sofa bed. Kitchen was outfitted for use, plates/bowls/utensils/pans and all the appliances worked. There were tabs for the dishwasher as well. If you don't like eating out for every meal when you're traveling (like us) - with a quick shopping trip (groceries within walking distance) you'll be set. TVs in each bedroom and one in common area. Eating/work table, AC that worked, WiFi, and windows that opened. The cable provided was even better than average! Beds comfortable, plenty of pillows, remotes worked, bathroom towels decent. Toiletries in the bathroom were of good quality and the decor was pleasant. Make sure you have the glass shower door closed as tight as possible or a water puddle will end up right outside. My complaint (and it's one I have for many hotels I stay in) is the shower. I'm used to minimal, barely acceptable water coverage, but this set a new low. I know why hotels do it, but it's depressing when rinsing takes forever because of the shower head. (Sigh) This hotel is in the heart of downtown, is quiet and comfortable- and a good price, even more so if you make use of all the available beds. Close to plenty, and in walking distance of dang near everything else. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat and without reservation! (Pun intended. ) read more

This is my second time staying here! I really enjoy how nice and clean the building is. Very fancy looking! The staff is very nice and helpful. The elevator seems to oddly always smell extremely good. I always book with them through Airbnb. Our room was very nice! Great views of the city the higher up you are. It's very close to everything, the globe theater is down the street, exchange LA is also down the street. A lot of great food spots and bars! There also is a parking garage across the street. We stayed in the Haas building for a bachelorette party. We were supposed to be able to check in to our Airbnb at 3 and stood around in the very tiny lobby until 3:30. It's conveniently located near Exchange Nightclub and lots of bars. It also looked like there were some good restaurants nearby. There's a security guard who copies everyone's IDs when they arrive at the building so it felt safe for being in downtown LA. The building does not have parking, but there are a few lots less than a block away that felt safe to leave my car overnight. read more

I get it, it's a cool downtown vibe, and it must have been affordable for my group to stay there, but it was so gross and dark with no open windows, NO AC?! and not to mention they were about 15 minutes late letting us check in. That's kind of unacceptable when most hotels let you check in early. The lobby and elevators are so small and cramped and hot. They have no staff to assist. The rooms are barren and cheap. And location is horrible. Close to skid row, sketchy people harass you right outside, and you have to park your car in a random lot one block over! I was a bit skeptical about the area but I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. 24 hour front desk but do not call just go down it's a lot faster. On Saturday night it was loud due to events happening downtown but the suite was impressive two full rooms a full bathroom and half bath, living room, dining room and full kitchen equipped with dishes, stove, microwave, dishwasher and full size refrigerator. It felt like home. I was able to order grocery delivery right to the lobby which was so convenient. Like most places you have to park in the surrounding parking garages, luckily a lot of places are in walking distance so that wasn't too bad. There is onsite washers and dryers in the basement and front desk will give you change for the machines so you don't have to leave the hotel to find quarters We would definitely stay here again. read more

It also is in a pretty bad area lots of homeless and you have to park in a parking structure across the street. If it was in a better location I'd stay there again but now I know better. Parking fee starts at 6 AM and you have to pay $10 in order to leave. The hotel itself is very clean and friendly very informative when checking in on how to use the showers head. safe since they need to allow access into the hotel itself. unless you request room service, no one does go in your room. You are in charge of taking out your own trash. There is a trash chute at the end of the hall. during winter/fall I can understand being here, temperature was doable. During the summer I would die since temperature is not allowed to go below 72, It gets extremely warm and humid in these rooms. slow Internet don't expect to get any work done unless you have your own reliable Internet. Kitchen comes with basic pot/utensils. They provide you with dish soap or tablet if you wish to use the dishwasher. Bathroom provides shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in case you wish to use their amenities.overall not bad price. Smells Gross...looks dangerous... it's too close to skid row. My cousin booked this room for a girls weekend and it started off on the wrong foot. We were instantly harassed by a transient woman as soon as we got out of the car because they don't offer parking and we had to park in a public lot a block away. It was really sad to see so many unhoused people outside the building. The lobby was super small and there was nothing luxurious about it. The pictures online are a complete catfish situation. We got to the "hotel" an hour after check-in and it still wasn't ready. The cleaning team was cleaning but it didn't smell clean at all. Instead it smelled like a dirty, cigarette-filled building. It was so bad that we didn't even sleep there. They wouldn't refund my cousin her money either. read more

My wife and I visited LA for a week while I worked at a customer facility 3 miles away. When we arrived driving in from Phoenix, we were pretty worried as we approached the Haas Building because of so many tents on the sidewalks of homeless people. It was sad, disturbing, and eye-opening to see so much poverty and sadness. It was a little scary, too; we don't often see that first hand. I called the Haas Building and asked about parking and where we can unload. I believe the gentleman I spoke to was the manager or owner, and he explained how to manage our check-in and all. He was so helpful and explained how there was a loading zone and where the safest place was to park. I was so grateful for the personal attention we received. Upon checking in, the receptionist said it looked like we were given an upgrade to the room. I was so surprised when we walked into the apartment room....it was incredibly laid out. King bed and very well remodeled. You have to realize the Haas Building was built in 1915....it was so well decorated and fixed up. We were so impressed and loved the safety and comfort we felt in this little home away from home. Safe, convenient, and comfortable. We loved our stay. Concierge is staffed 24/7 and the one bedroom deluxe was very spacious! When we walked in it smelled freshly cleaned but that smell wore off. Most everything is updated but no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. The blinds were old, dirty, and broken (couldn't rotate, pull up, or roll down). Baseboards/corners had dust and black accumulations on them. The designated parking lot across the street is only $20 but does not allow in and out throughout the day which makes it inconvenient to stay there more than one night. There is very little street noise heard from the 8th floor which is always a concern for downtowns but it was not an issue at all. Overall, this was fine for a short stay but would probably look for something else next time I'm in DTLA. read more

As time goes on and I experience more and more of this building, I'm inclined to remove a star from my initial rating. There are a few reasons for this. Management is horrendously slow at fixing problems with the units or the building. We have had two wall mounted air conditioners replaced and "fixed" so far. But only after months of waiting and sending multiple emails. Our dishwasher never worked right and it was like pulling teeth to get it replaced. The lights in the trash chute area either went out or broke entirely and it took 3+ weeks and multiple complaints to management and the handyman before it was begrudgingly repaired. I was recently doing a photo shoot in my front doorway and was confronted by the building manager mid-production in front of clients and informed that my front door is a common area and I had to get permission from the building to use it. Lack of professionalism aside, that kind of behavior is certainly not friendly to creative types working on projects. On a non-managerial note, if you're planning on living here or anywhere along 7th St. downtown, be aware that a major fire station is also located on 7th a few blocks east. This means that fire trucks and ambulances will go right past your window with sirens blaring all day and night. Higher floors are a bit better, but not immune to the street noise. I write this as my time at Haas comes to a close due to a job opportunity in Austin, TX. I'm leaving L.A. after ten years and leaving the place I've enjoyed living the most since I moved to L.A.. I looked all over downtown and everyone told me I'd just know when I found the place, but after three weekends of hitting the pavement, having my keys and license locked in one building's office, finding out after wasting my time that parking is an extra $200, encountering leasing agents that just couldn't be bothered, etc., I was left completely wary and frustrated. Then I started talking to Julian who I dug immediately. When we finally met, he showed me one unit, I knew IMMEDIATELY, and walked out an hour later with my place secured and excited to move in. It was a combination of the building, the features of the unit, the very cool tenants, and Julian's awesome energy. No competition. The day before I moved in, I went to get my keys and do a quick walk-through, there was an issue with the unit looking slightly different than the one he showed me. They didn't just say they'd fix it, they made a STRUCTURAL change for me right then - in less than 24 HOURS!! I was blown away. Since living there, I've got to know about 1/3 of the building. Everyone is so unique and cool and friendly, but you definitely still maintain a very strong sense of privacy. And Julian is so easy to communicate with and the staff is always professional and beyond accommodating. It's never noisy, the building is so well insulated, I've barely had to run my heat all winter. And I love the mix of a historic building with the modern features we all love - walk-in closets, stainless appliances, heat & A/C, and garden spa tubs. When I got a new job and needed to relocate, Julian and I worked together to try and sublet my place. He was incredibly professional and we came to a very accommodating agreement I was very happy with (and I hope he is, too). I can't recommend this place enough!! read more

I just moved in and I'll definitely be updating my review as the year progresses. I love the Haas, it is hands down my favorite apartment I've ever lived in. The lofts themselves are beautiful and totally for my personal aesthetic. I love all the different lighting options possible in the rooms, and the color changing LEDs on the walls. The street noise is not that bad at all. I expected worse living on a busy street. All the negative reviews about that are from people who probably have never lived in a busy city before (I'm a transplant from New York..). If anything, I find the street noise to be inspiring and exciting. My move was relativity smooth. Make sure you call the DWP to turn your electricity on a week before you move in. I learned my lesson when I was without electricity for 3 days... Overall, I'm so happy with my move to the Haas. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else in Downtown, and if you get the opportunity to rent here, I think it's certainly in your best interest to take it! read more

I have had the privilege of calling the Haas building my home for the past 2 and a half years. Boris and Zuri have been nothing short of being the best landlords I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The Haas building is located in the heart (historic core) of LA, so for any of the other reviewers to be complaining about homeless people, they don't understand that every major metropolitan downtown has homeless people. If you don't want homeless people, you don't choose to live downtown where it's densely populated (hence attracting homeless people) and you go live in a sparsely populated suburb. The building was beautifully remodeled and it's very difficult to find interior decor like the Haas building. All my New York friends have shared that the exposed brick-feel in most of the units feel like New York and provide a lot of warmth and history to this truly historic building. The building has been retrofitted with a massive concrete column going through the core of the entire building which adds a modernness to the building with the obvious benefit of earthquake proofing. 24/7 front desk security. Ernie has been there the longest and is one of the nicest people! Ortega is the on-site maintenance, fix-all manager and is very helpful and responsive. A year ago (2016) they installed thicker sound-proof windows on the Clifton side right after Clifton's opened. There are a lot of musicians, composers, DJ's, creatives who live in the building so be accustomed to the possibility of some sounds during the day. Everyone is very respectful at night to turn their things down. This is not to say the walls are thin because they are definitely NOT thin. Being an old building, most of the building is just pure concrete, providing a lot of sound proofing. Keep in mind once again, you're choosing to live downtown where all the action is. Expect to hear ambulances, fire trucks, and noise. The Haas building is located in the busiest part of downtown between Broadway and Spring street on 7th, which is also the busiest East/West street in downtown. With all this in mind, I loved living downtown. I love the liveliness, I love the noises, I love the people (even the homeless). I loved the convenience of walking 10 minutes to Whole Foods, 15 minutes to Grand Central Market, and access to endless restaurants and bar/lounges downtown. Downtown is now the IT spot to go to, so it's a privilege to be able to live in the revival of Downtown LA! Parking is provided in the building next door. But if you want to live downtown, you should adjust your lifestyle to just walking around and biking. read more

I've been living here for over 2 years with my wife. We love it here! Boris, the manager, is great. Always available and eager to help. Ortega, the building maintenance man, is amazing. When we first moved in, we left a message that one of our ac units was acting up. This was a late afternoon mind you. He called us no kore than 10 minutes asking if it was too late to go and replace the unit that day! Being empathetic, we told him it was ok to come the next day. This is not a rare case. Everyone loves how available he is. The security is amazing. They have cameras in all the hallways that are monitored 24 hours a day. We also have a keyless fob system and visitors can call us on the intercom. Our basement has a small gym, but has a pool table, football table, and ping pong table. It also has a flat screen and an oversized couch to lounge in. The basement also has a full laundry room. Our unit is very spacious. The kitchen has stainless appliances and counters. We have exposed brick and a great view of the west side and Broadway. We have one parking spot included for the price of the rent, and we paid for an extra one for a nominal fee compared to the surrounding spots. The building always stays full, and our neighbors on our floor are all long time renters here. Needless to say, we love it here. read more

My wife and I live here from 5/2009-4/2012, let me put this as simply as I can, this place is amazing. I'll be the first to say that I had PLENTY of reservations about living in DTLA. We must have looked at 8-10 buildings before choosing the Haas building. The building is beautiful inside and very modern, which is what initially lead us to choose it. Had we known how great Julian (the manager) was going to be as well as the the all of the building staff (security and maintenance), not to mention the great people in general that live here, I would have never had any reservations. This place truly feels like home and everyone that works at the building make you feel like family. Without going into personal details, my wife and I had multiple occasions where the team went above and beyond to assist us and we'll forever be appreciative for there help. I've seen concerns in other reviews regarding the noise from 7th st, this is a DTLA concern and not a Haas building concern. You're going to have this wherever you are in DTLA. While we noticed it at the beginning you'd be amazed at how you adapt to it. Rent here is very fair and it includes a parking spot! Let me say that again, it includes a parking spot!!! Not only do you get to live in a great building with great people but you also get a parking spot, which very few other buildings include in DTLA. My wife and I recently moved out of DTLA (we had a child and needed to be closer to family). Had it not been for the addition to our family, we would still be at the Haas building. So far I can tell you that we miss it tremendously. Other reviews mention many of the other perks of the building (events, filming etc) so I won't dive into them here. To wrap it up, all I can say is that if you are looking for a place in DTLA make sure you consider the Haas building, you won't regret it. Just as Justin S said in a previous review....this place is loud as hell if your unit faces 7th street. If you are a person who enjoys the sounds of sirens going by constantly throughout the day and night, give it a shot. And if you think you will avoid the sirens by living on the top floor, believe me you won't. Maintenance isn't very good at fixing things either. Most of it is done very sloppy. The interior of the apartments are nice, except for the puke green wall in the kitchen. The noise level between unit walls was OK but watch out above if you have a clunky neighbor living over you. You will hear every footstep above your head. The ceilings are made of thin drywall. And the neighborhood of 7th and Broadway is a real downer....unless you are looking to get a good deal on cheap socks. read more

The Haas building is the kind of building that makes Downtown a better place. We lived in one of their corner, bigger units for two years, and I only have great things to say about the apartment, the building and its management. Moving in was hassle-free and felt like moving into a brand new loft. The price was very fair for the space, and in a market were prices for lofts can be simply ridiculous, the way the owners deal with newcomers is very enjoyable. Jose, the on-site maintenance genius, does an incredible job at keeping everything not only clean, but functioning, which is much more than what you can say about 99% of the buildings downtown (all SB properties, if you didn't get the hint)... Not to mention that he was nice enough to accept to mount our TV on the wall of our loft, including hiding all the cables in the wall, and do some small electric work here and there. He is, also, an incredibly nice guy. Special kudos to Julian, the building manager, who is great at his job and always willing to please. Moving out was as easy as moving in, and his honesty was unwavering including at the end, when we got our security deposit back. All in all, I would recommend the Haas building to anyone who wants to live Downtown in an upscale loft building that will not be all smokes and mirrors, but an actually great place to live. Our place was very quiet, considering the fact that we were in the heart of DTLA, and the mix of bricks, marble and modern amenities really set the lofts apart. Laundry on site, but you can also choose to rent a washer/dryer combo from the management hooked up directly in your unit. Small gym in the basement, bike parking there too, dry cleaning pick-up/delivery service... what else can you ask for? I have lived in the HAAS Building for two years before making my final decision to head back to the Westside. Undoubtedly, the HAAS Building is quite beautiful. It has a contemporary feel mixed with concrete and bricks. I looked at a lot of lofts before deciding to move in and this was by far one of the nicest units I've seen on the market. I lived on the 9th floor and had an amazing view of the city; a three dimensional landscape of urban downtown. Inside the unit are upscale and modern appliances. I loved the look, the feel and space of my loft. On the downside, I lived facing 7th Street and this was probably the biggest reason for leaving the building. The units do not have double-paned windows and although, I was on the 9th floor, I could hear the traffic noise as if I was on the 1st floor. The penthouse, which is up three floors, is often rented out to party-goers and the music goes until 12 -1 am in the morning. The public transportation buses tend to park at the bus stop below and I could hear their exhaust pipes and engines for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times throughout the night. The parking is across the street and at night, the streets can be quite dangerous. HAAS does provide security to meet you at the corner and escort you to your building and 24 hour security in the building is a plus too. There is a jacuzzi up on the roof, but it's reserved for the owner of the building, so tenants are not allowed up on the rooftop to enjoy any of the amenities. The building does come with water, gas, and internet -- so that compensates. All my New Yorker friends who came over to visit, LOVED my place and traffic never seemed to get on their nerves. I think I'm just a Westsider at heart and enjoy my peaceful nights and quiet neighborhoods. If the exterior noises don't bother you, you will love the designs of these units. Pure lush! read more

The Haas Building is home. My boyfriend and I moved into this building in March. This apartment is the embodiment of where I imagined living in my twenties and thirties. Our apartment has gorgeous exposed brick with accent lighting. The unit has high ceilings, stainless steel appliances, and a unique layout. This apartment has given me such an appreciation for living in a building with history. The light fixtures, cabinetry, and frosted glass doors have made me fall in love with industrial chic style . There is great lighting for doing makeup in the bathroom and the style of the sink makes you feel like you're in a spa. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There are video cameras in every hallway that are monitored 24 hours a day by the doorman (or doorwoman). The sense of security and comfort are strong in this building. While searching for apartments, finding a quality place that allows pets was becoming discouraging. The Haas Building has some mystical thing about it, because every dog that lives here is exceptionally cute. It's fun to see the dogs use the elevators and interact with each other. The tenants are delightful. I have yet to have a poor experience with any of my neighbors. Amenities: There is air conditioning, one free parking space, on site laundry, security, stainless steel appliances, large closets, modern bathrooms, and full kitchen. You also have the option of paying a small fee to have a two in one washer dryer installed in your apartment. The parking garage is across the street. There are a few of the essential work out machines and free weights in the basement. The staff encourages you to use the couch and flat screen to watch movies with friends. There is a pool table, bike rack, and storage in the basement as well. The view of the Eastern Building is a huge plus! The Cons: As expected, downtown is extremely loud. It feels like there are constant sirens and street noise. The neighborhood has a lot of interesting characters. It takes some getting used to. The workout room is subpar. You receive one free parking spot and an additional parking spot costs $150. read more

I booked a room for 3 days and ended up extending to two weeks. Staff is super nice, friendly and helpful the building is very quiet and well taken care of the set up in the room was very clean and very spacious. TVs have Netflix and all other streaming apps. Our stay was great and highly recommend this place if you're staying downtown. read more

Moving to DTLA? It doesn't get better than The HAAS Bld'g. I've never taken the time to review ANYTHING...but it's so damn good at the HAAS...I had no choice but to comment on my experience living at 7th and Broadway for 3 years. Where to begin? At the top with the management. The place is ran like a family. You live at the HAAS, you're family. The tenants are the dopest diverse creed in DTLA, from famous DJ's and Artists, to VC's and Tech kids. If you have a problem, just talk to Julian the building manager and you'll get sorted. They will work with you on any issue. The building meistro Ortega. This guy is your bff at HAAS. For me, if I ever needed anything for my unit Ortega hooked it up. From simple light bulb replacements (cause the lighting is premium at the HAAS) to hanging pictures on concrete wall and brick. Unbelievable building maintenance as this place was built for-sale units but now is a rental building. So every detail in design was retrofitted. For instance, the building owner didn't sell all the marble to pay for the renovation, they used it all over the place. Kept the original floors and used the excess as trim in the units. SICK! The two best door dudes in DTLA, Morgan and Ernie. These dudes are like my brothers. I can't tell you how many late night talks we've had out there on 7th Street just chillin and watching the urban drama unfold. I'm really gonna miss that the most about this place. You treat them right, they'll treat you right. I think that about raps it up. 5 star people, 5 star joint. I've looked and know the area better than most. Save yourself the time, trouble, and application fees. Hit Julian up and try to get into the HAAS. You'd be surprised at what can be accomplished at the HAAS. Cheers. read more

The Haas Building, which has also operated in the past as a short-term rental under the name of the Rosemary, but now its own name, is also a rental apartment building - solely, until it started converting a couple of years ago. To drive tenants out, management raised rents and stopped including a parking space in the rental fee. For us, it was a 13% increase at one time. Then, since Covid-19 hit, the building has been almost completely empty, except for the handful of remaining tenants like us. This summer, the manager approached my wife personally and told her they wanted our apartment, to work on it for when they could offer short-term rentals again. They offered us another apartment, but it didn't meet our needs. We got the message, though, and quickly found another apartment. The management took half of our security deposit for our not giving THEM 30-days notice, to cover "idle days" for the apartment. The building is empty - we were asked to vacate our apartment. We were excellent tenants for four and a half years: we were never late with the rent, we gave the multiple front desk staff Christmas presents every year, my wife baked them all cookies for the holidays. We thought we had a friendly relationship with the manager, Boris, and owner, Zuri. We wrote Boris to express our objection to their withholding the money. He ignored us and never responded. That's what we got for our good tenancy, after we were asked to move. They took the money because they could. As you can see in reviews elsewhere on Google, they took the money of short-term renters who had to cancel because of Covid19. Apparently, that's what they do. We were long-term tenants, and we were treated no better in the end. read more

Rented a nice corner unit on the 4th floor on the Haas Building for several months. Would've stayed longer but had to relocate to NYC for a new job! The property manager, Julian, is a class act. Despite having to leave my lease early, he was very understanding of my situation and we worked out a mutually beneficial arrangement. The management and staff was quick to address any issues with the apartment and the common areas were always kept clean and well-maintained. Highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking to checkout the Downtown LA area. Close to some good restaurants and bars! One word of caution, the apartment does get a bit loud sometimes, depending on where your unit faces, so if you can get over that it truly is an ideal place to live. read more
