Other than that, it has absolutely everything you could possibly want in terms of equipment. It's clean, perfectly lit and the people are friendly. I love that they have a large artificial turf area, great for stretching and active strength exercises.

It's a fun playground where I go to play, to process, to express, to connect, and to release. From day one, this space has felt safe, welcoming, and grounding. What stands out most is the community. I deeply value connection, and as a new member, I've genuinely appreciated the friendliness and openness of the people here. The gym-goers I've met have been kind, encouraging, and warm! I feel right at home! Of course...creating this kind of culture doesn't just happen. It's a reflection of the incredible staff who hold the energy of this place. Special shout-outs to Eli (manager), Anthony (sales), Diana and Elias (welcome desk), and the entire team, from the amazing front desk to the cleaning and maintenance staff who keep everything squeaky clean and running smoothly. Your care and effort are felt! Deep gratitude for this gym and for everyone who contributes to making it such a welcoming and uplifting space. I'm really thankful to be part of this community!

Unfortantely, I had to stop going and processed a cancellation of my membership. Some how the process never finished and I was getting charged. I was able to get help from the location manager (Lou) and she was really understanding and respectful. She was able to get the situation resolved pretty quickly and I remembered why I fell in love with the place. You can always replace equipment and courts but you can't replace great client experiances. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a sports gym to check out the Hub Alameda

I personally just buy the day passes here and come during the weekend every so often, and stay all day (since they have in n out privileges) to make my pass worth it. I remember the good old days when day passes were just $25, but now it is $40! A bit too much for me, if you are looking for a free court with good opponents, you can play at Mitchell park in Palo Alto. Also, during rainy days is very busy so be mindful of that if you are coming because you can't play outside for free, because everyone else has the same idea! Other than that, when I do come to the hub, I always get good games in when I play in the higher skill levels

It's a great spot for your classic gym work-out's, but also as a change in pace for those who work from home (there's a separate work space where you can also rent out private room). Noise level is typically lively. Parking in the main lot is difficult especially after work or at noon (during weekday's) and is generally packed during the weekend - of note, there's an alternative parking lot to the side of the main lot for Bay Club-specific parking (approximately 5min walk). SERVICE Service was friendly, overall, as you're typically greeted by those at the front desk, which is lovely. I'd say there is room for improvement for my tour/meeting with the membership director when I first looked at Bay Club Courtside, as it felt that my question's were more of annoyances and that he wanted the meeting to be over with sooner than later. STANDOUT DETAIL What stood out most to me was the overall atmosphere and vibe - it feels like I'm going on vacation to a resort everytime I enter (rather than a gym). I've never paid a monthly fee for a gym until now, and I'll say it's absolutely worth it! Overall, I'd highly recommend Bay Club Courtside!

*sigh* I feel sad to drop my rating from four stars to three. But issues have come up as a result…read moreof a big push to increase membership that are making certain pain points more painful for members. Parking Lot: This has been a big problem for a while. While I get that they "have plans in the works" to help remedy the issue, what I don't understand is why they block an entire row of parking spaces - including a handicap space(!!!) - all day for kids summer club drop off and pick up. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a better solution that doesn't include removing the availability of so many parking spaces. At peak times it's like The Hunger Games trying to find a spot. They've been very aware that the parking situation is bad, but they pushed to increase membership numbers without a plan in place first and now everyone is being inconvenienced. The other issue is the members themselves. I'd say the vast majority are wonderful and polite, but since the push to increase membership I've observed more rude and gross behavior. Members getting in verbal fights with other members, classes being overcrowded and causing aggravation because of space issues, etc. Locker room behavior ranges from people behaving like slobs and leaving towels on the floor versus putting them in the bin when done to cell phone conversations in the locker room to using hair dryers to dry underwear on the vanity countertop. These are things I'd expect at a budget gym, not at Courtside. I know they can't police poor behavior and hygiene but this is the result when you allow adding more members at a much lower rate to a main member's account. I get that it's expensive to operate these kinds of facilities. But for what I'm paying I am beginning to wonder if the grass is greener (and less expensive) elsewhere...

SJ Express is an excellent program to have your kids start water polo. Much of the coaching staff…read moreis younger with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The club administrators do a great job of sharing the schedules of both practices and games/tournaments. We joined SJX after some bad experiences with other clubs and were happy to see our child enjoy going to each practice and make some great (hopefully lifelong) friends. The only knock, and why not a five-star plus experience, is that the club is popular and has a lot of kids. This leads to coaches working with larger groups. They do their best, but there are limits. One reason the club is so large is that they are the best option in the critical phase when you are starting and quickly developing as a player. Another downside is that if your player progresses to a high level, it would make sense to look at other options where more high-level teammates and tournaments accelerate and improve chances of playing at the highest levels. But this only really applies to those "star players" and likely not to those writing and reading a Yelp review before joining.

Water polo has had a profound impact on his life and character. It has taught him discipline, teamwork, and has greatly strengthened his confidence. Water polo is far more than a sport. It instills values every growing child needs to learn, experience, and carry with them beyond the pool. Coach Nicole(10U) is truly exceptional--sharp, deeply committed, firm when needed, and always willing to go above and beyond for the kids. She lives and breathes the game, and what our son has gained under her guidance has far exceeded our expectations. If we were asked to make the same decision about SJX today, we would do so without hesitation--just as we did three years ago.
