Unfortantely, I had to stop going and processed a cancellation of my membership. Some how the process never finished and I was getting charged. I was able to get help from the location manager (Lou) and she was really understanding and respectful. She was able to get the situation resolved pretty quickly and I remembered why I fell in love with the place. It's a great spot for your classic gym work-out's, but also as a change in pace for those who work from home (there's a separate work space where you can also rent out private room). Noise level is typically lively. Parking in the main lot is difficult especially after work or at noon (during weekday's) and is generally packed during the weekend - of note, there's an alternative parking lot to the side of the main lot for Bay Club-specific parking (approximately 5min walk). SERVICE Service was friendly, overall, as you're typically greeted by those at the front desk, which is lovely. I'd say there is room for improvement for my tour/meeting with the membership director when I first looked at Bay Club Courtside, as it felt that my question's were more of annoyances and that he wanted the meeting to be over with sooner than later. STANDOUT DETAIL What stood out most to me was the overall atmosphere and vibe - it feels like I'm going on vacation to a resort everytime I enter (rather than a gym). It'll really come together, I'm sure, when the pool deck gets redone this coming winter. Our cabana club was a bright spot of exercise and fun during the pandemic -- they worked so hard to make sure members could get some safe pool time in all season, even extended the season! The club administrators do a great job of sharing the schedules of both practices and games/tournaments. We joined SJX after some bad experiences with other clubs and were happy to see our child enjoy going to each practice and make some great (hopefully lifelong) friends. The only knock, and why not a five-star plus experience, is that the club is popular and has a lot of kids. This leads to coaches working with larger groups. They do their best, but there are limits. One reason the club is so large is that they are the best option in the critical phase when you are starting and quickly developing as a player. Another downside is that if your player progresses to a high level, it would make sense to look at other options where more high-level teammates and tournaments accelerate and improve chances of playing at the highest levels. But this only really applies to those "star players" and likely not to those writing and reading a Yelp review before joining.

It instills values every growing child needs to learn, experience, and carry with them beyond the pool. Coach Nicole(10U) is truly exceptional--sharp, deeply committed, firm when needed, and always willing to go above and beyond for the kids. She lives and breathes the game, and what our son has gained under her guidance has far exceeded our expectations. If we were asked to make the same decision about SJX today, we would do so without hesitation--just as we did three years ago.
